All of them likely play Sunday except for Starks.
Hey Goldie, Dak played really well. I don't think anyone could say he played like a rookie. Of course, he's helped out with one heck of an Oline that we couldn't hardly dent and a great RB in Elliot, but overall, Dak is going to be really good.
But he'll never be as great as Rodgers!
I hope Rollins & Jordy can go on Sunday
DH13 posted:OK, for all the late comers that didn't see the injury reports several days before and leading up to the game: Randall had a foot injury.
He was clearly not at full speed as you could see him struggling to stay with anyone on routes.
Anybody have any questions about Adams' from last year?
Yes. Why did he change his name to Bob?
I officially dub Damarious as Ahmad.
He's hurt Henry & trying to gut it out.
I'm telling ya, he ain't right. When he gets healthy you're going to be surprised.
Hence his renaming.
I hope this year's GB/ATL playoff game results in Atlanta screwing up their draft to get another WR to keep up 28th the Packers.
Grave Digger posted:Falcons are beatable, not much different than the 2010 team: strong running game, strong group of receivers, same QB, suspect defense that plays hard....
Uh no. This Falcon team is loaded and playing at a higher level than 2010. Ryan is playing really well (MVP candidate) and they have added a few elite players since 2010. Maybe you've heard, Julio Jones is one of the elite WR in the game. Devante Freeman is an elite RB and Tevin Coleman is a very good tandem to him....they both can run and catch equally well. Adding Mohamad Sanu was a nice move by their GM too.
As mentioned Quinn seems to be a good coach, but I think the biggest difference maker has been Kyle Shanahan. He has their offense playing at an elite level. Will probably get a HC gig because of it.
Pack will have their hands full. Hopefully we can keep the offensive train rolling and somehow find a way to stop theirs.
One thing that ATL offense has right now is speed, and a lot of it. That's not a good recipe for our secondary. OBJ was the only guy with killer speed for NYG and DAL has more quicks that speed. Julio, Sanu, Gabriel, and all the RB's can fly. Need to jam them at the line and hope 42 is back. Brice's speed should help too if he doesn't blow any assignments.
I thought Julio Jones sat out the 4th quarter Saturday due to a turf toe injury or something like that?? If so, he might be a few mph slower.
Need some Domfusion in this game. ;-)
Okie dokie, this is where we're at.
Let's take a look at the NFC South Champion's regular season under the radar 11-5 record.
L - Buccaneers: 24-31 W - @Falcons: 35-28 W - @Saints: 45-32 W - Panthers: 48-33
| W - @Broncos 23-16 L - @Seahawks 24-26 L - Chargers 30-33 W - Packers 33-32
| W - @Buccaneers 42-38 L - @Eagles 15-24 W - Cardinals 38-19 L - Chiefs 29-28
| W - @Rams 42-14 W - San Francisco 41-13 W - @Panthers 33-16 W - Saints 38-32
|
The first thing that jumps out to me is the following: only three of the teams they've played made it to the Playoffs: Chiefs, Packers, Seahawks. Their regular season record against those teams this year is 1-2; beating only the Packers.
They beat the Packers you say? With 0:35 to go in the game on a touchdown pass on a magnificent drive by Ryan? Yes, they did, yet the Packers were withOUT the following players that day: Cobb, Cook, Matthews, Montgomery, Randall, Rollins, and Starks.
Sure, the Falcons took care of business against the Seahawks in the Playoffs, but I think this team is vulnerable to the Packers. The Falcons are on a 5-game win streak (with the only Playoffs team win coming IN the Playoffs: Rams, San Francisco, Panthers, Saints, Seahawks.
The Packers are on an 8-game win streak: Eagles, Texans, Seahawks, Bears, Vikings, Lions, Giants, Cowboys. What's the difference? FIVE of those wins are against Playoffs teams (with only two of those five coming IN the Playoffs).
Six days from now will be a game unlike anything the Falcons have seen all year. It should make Week 8 look like child's play. Am I terrified? Absolutely. I'm terrified. I have been since I can't remember when.
But GO PACK GO!
As far as I am concerned, Kentrell Brice has earned a starting spot on this team just based on the stellar hit he made on Dallas's Beasley. Here's hoping he can do more of the same to a few Atlanta players next week!

One TV announcer, Merrill Hoge(?), predicted that Jordy would be back after two weeks with those ribs as Hoge(?) played WR with a similar injury in which Hoge said he had broken 3 ribs. He went on to say the first 7-10 days it hurt just to breath, but by 14 days he was back to playing full time. Here's hoping we get Jordy back soon.
So you want him starting over Burnett, if healthy?

No, that's not what I meant. Brice's hit on Beasley is worthy of recognition. Burnett is the starter, but in Dom's world, there is room for a hard hitter like Brice in most of the schemes he uses.
Hodge played WR? I thought he was a RB?
And left the game due to concussions.
I love a big hit. Not a fan of celebrating a big hit after the big hit still results in the other team getting a first down.

2010 had a better OC in Mike Mularkey, who actually has the Titans playing their best football in years, and Mike Smith was as hot as Dan Quinn is now. 2010 Falcons had Roddy White in his prime, not in Julio's class, but still among the top WRs in the league. They also had pretty comparable depth, more veteran players but not as talented. They also had Tony Gonzalez who was still playing good ball. Michael Turner was every bit as good as Freeman is now, they had a strong running game that year. I think their OLine was every bit as good as this years line.
The thing that scares me is that we had key veterans on D that made plays...Tramon, Cullen Jenkins, Nick Collins all stepped up and made plays against Ryan who was playing great football himself.
This ATL has more speed at the skill positions.
So if the Packers can't stop Atlanta's offense, how is their defense?
The Packers will make ATL's defense look like the Packers Defense makes everyone else's offense look.

As long as he doesn't go for the highlight and let the TD get away from him.

Wow, you are way off again. The 2016 Falcons are producing at a much higher level. Starting with Matt Ryan, he has improved his game(unfortunately).
Ryan 2010 : 62.5 % Comp , 3,705 yds, 28 TD, 9 INT, 91.0 Rating
Ryan 2016 : 69.9 % Comp , 4,944 , 38 TD , 7 INT , 117.1 Rating
1200 more yards, much higher rating, and 10 more TD's, etc....
Scoring:
2010 Falcon team scored 414 points, 2016 team scored 540 points
Roddy White and Harry Douglas were plodders compared to Julio Jones, Mohamed Sanu, and Gabriel.
Rushing:
2010 - 1,891 yards, 2016 1,928 yards
I loved Michael Turner but he was pretty one dimensional(2010 : >1000 yd rusher but fewer than 100 yds receiving). Freeman and Coleman provide much more versatility - very good runners(2016: >1500 yds) and I believe they had over 800 yards receiving this year. Thats another big difference.
I think one of the biggest additions they made has been Alex Mack, he's solidified their line.
Sorry, saying the Falcons are "not much different than the 2010 team", is incorrect.
Eye opening....Still don't think they're much different, very similar teams. Just as beatable. Matt Ryan couldn't beat Rodgers then and he won't do it now.

ATL has more speed now at the skill positions. Is it ground hog day already?
Kentrell Brice was another nice UDFA find by Thompson and the Packer scouts. If the guy would have been invited to the combine he would have scored in the top tier of DB's, his measurables are that good. ....glad he was snubbed.
Guy has a future. Will be interesting to see how he fits in with Burnett and Dix manning the safety position.

Thanks....and I hope you are right about the "just as beatable" part.
The Falcons gave up a whole bunch of points during the regular season(27th in scoring defense). Gonna have to score a bunch !!
Honestly my only real worry right now is the hangover from yesterday and Atlanta's extra day of preparation.
What goes up must come down. Meanwhile Atlanta had a much easier game, no emotional bedlam and no plane rides to deal with, plus an extra day.
They sure don't get easier. Mike, Aaron and the boys pull this off they should get statues.
NFL news :
Atlanta defensive end Adrian Clayborn tore his bicep in Saturday's 36-20 win and will be out for the remainder of the playoffs, a source informed told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. He suffered the injury in the first half of the contest, and did not return after halftime.
In his second season with the Falcons, Clayborn finished second on the team with 4.5 sacks in 13 games. The pass rusher spent his first four seasons in Tampa Bay, racking up 13 quarterback takedowns over that span.
With Clayborn out, Atlanta will need someone else to step up and generate pressure alongside Vic Beasley next Sunday. Beasley accumulated 15.5 sacks in a breakout second season. Beasley and Clayborn, however, were the only Falcons with more than three sacks on the season.
Blood in the water, Aaron!
Grave Digger posted:If Peppers wants that ring he may well be the X factor for GB, these moments are the reason he got so few snaps early in the season.
Does anyone know how many snaps he had against Dallas? It seemed like a lot more than normal. I do not recall seeing Fackrell out there. And there's never any news on Jayrone Elliott.
Julius has dug deep and you cannot fault his effort, but more 4th quarter fresh legs would be nice. Let him rest a couple downs and come in there firing on all cylinders on 3rd down.
Didn't Reggie White play in the Super Bowl with a torn bicep?
