@AdamSchefter: Bengals placed LB LB Vontaze Burfict on IR; 49ers activated LB NaVorro Bowman off IR.

Surprised about Bowman. Wouldn't play him if I were the Niners. Let him get fully healthy, that was a gruesome injury.

They activated Bowman to try & give that team some life. Not certain it's going to do any good.

The Vegas line has moved substantially already from Seattle -7.5 to Seattle -10. I've heard -12 in some places.

LINK

1. I don't think SF is as bad as they have shown.

2. I don't think Seattle is as good as they have shown.

3. Jim Harbaugh would love nothing more than to stomp the ever loving **** out of Pete Carroll right before he tells Trent Baalke to go **** himself. Unless Baalke tells Jim that first...

I'd be absolutely shocked if SF went to Seattle and laid down. If it happened I wouldn't touch Harbaugh with a 10 foot pole either. I think he realizes this.

So he's going to miss the entire offseason and training camp, and IIRC it takes about a year after getting back to competition to get yourself back to what you were.  Some guys don't really come back from it at all.

Probably some nervous execs in Houston right now.  In a way it's too bad, because he and JJ 'not a fit for the 3-4' Watt would be fun to watch together.

Jamal Reynolds was an all-pro DE after his.

No surprise here. Given how much Cam was beaten up before in game action it might be a smart idea just to shut him down for the remainder of the season.

@AdamSchefter: Panthers announce Cam Newton is out for Sunday and Derek Anderson will start.

How many high picks have they had now? Jeebus. They are 2-11. Have none of these drafts where they pick at the top draft after draft gotten them any better?

Perhaps Matt Millen is still working after all.

Off the top of my head. Last few drafts, all top 10

Blaine Gabbert-bust

Justin Blackmon-Suspended, booze and reef--world of talent.

Luke Joeckel- Will be ok, missed most of last season with broken legg.

Blake Bortles-Jury out, up, but more down this year

No practice again today for Falcons WR Julio Jones.

After rewatching the game he took a double shot from Barrington and then Datone on his last catch. The Falcons ran the ball on the next play and then Julio came out. Datone with a hard tackle.

Don't forget the debaucle of Derrick Harvey and giving up on Monroe.  It's unfortunate that the Jags have missed so bad on their last 6 (1st Rounders), 4 of them aren't even on the team anymore.  You can miss on a couple of early picks, every now and then, but when you go through a 1/2 of decade of missing, it's going to take some time to dig your way out.  I think they are on the right path, hopefully, Bradley gets some time.

If only they could have drafted #15, all the Jags problems would be gone.

gonna be a long road for Clowney - I had no idea this type of surgery took such rehab.

---------------------------------------------------

As Sunday Night Football Sports Medicine Consultant Mike Ryan recently explained on PFT Live, plenty of players have had microfracture surgery, but they choose not to advertise it, due to the stigma associated with the procedure.  While the surgery and rehab have improved in recent years, one player who has had it believes the latest NFL player to get it will have a hard time recovering from it.

He’s screwed,” Colts tackle Gosder Cherilus said of Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, via Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star.  “His game is all about explosion.  That’s a problem.  I’m out there dancing.  I’m an offensive line[man]. That’s a different ballgame.  He’s screwed.  I’m just being honest.”

Cherilus also echoed Ryan’s description of the rehab process as long and grueling.

“The doctor said, ‘I’d be surprised if you ever play again'” Cherilus said.  “I was like, ‘My God.’  But I gave it a try.  We did rehab for nine straight months.  Three to five hours in the morning and then I’d come back and do some more later.  Think about that.”

Before the rehab, the player has to spend plenty of time off the leg.

“You see my leg right here?” Cherilus said.  “Imagine putting this on crutches for 10 weeks.  You lose everything.  The whole leg was dumb.  I couldn’t even walk.  We had to teach the leg to do everything all over again:  Taking off, cutting, everything.”

Wow.

Don't wish it on the kid, but will anybody have been more famous for "potential" than anything else, than him?

Bosworth produced in kollege at least.

@FootballPost: Broncos place Montee Ball on injured reserve, activate Danny Trevathan.

@MikeGarafolo: Broncos confirm RB Montee Ball going on IR. CJ Anderson's emergence surely a big reason why they decided not to wait for Ball.

Not sure.  I know he's averaging barely more than 3 ypc this season and it seems like he's been hurt constantly.  It doesn't help that it also appears that he's been surpassed on the depth chart by what's-his-head.

Maybe it's too early to call him a bust, but the other two guys taken in the same round last year in Lacy and Bell have obviously been galaxies better than Ball.

So, pretty much, huh?  Only a tie between the Pokes and the Iggles will keep them out.

That or a black hole opening up at Lincoln Financial Field.  Not sure how the NFL would handle that.
