I'd say this was more a lack of players. Bush not keeping containment, Hyde dropping the INT, Burnett not breaking quickly enough on the ball on Davis TD, missed tackles. They just have better players.

Too negative, a veteran safety and a good defensive coordinator would do wonders for the packers defense. Not that a good inside Linebacker would not help.

we need a change to have our new offense talents and a rodgers in prime match defense, nobody respects this defense - in the least, sf shows this when they went for it on fourth down, in our stadium...and got it.
We have seen Capers defense for years now, even during the super bowl year we seen the Packers defense have the same problem perhaps to a lessor degree , bad tackling, giving up big plays. Why if the Packers bring Capers back would we expect to see any difference.

Packers very undermanned on D all season. I trust TT will to do what's best (keep him or not), but it's tough to play with backups getting the amount of time they've gotten this season. Maybe the reason there seemed to be so much confusion on D so often is because a bunch of the players out there weren't ready to be out there.
I think it says a lot when a guy like Mulumba is hobbling out there on one leg and our superstar LB (Matthews) has a banged up finger and he's out for half the season. I love his effort and intensity but the bottom line is that he can't stay healthy - or at least that's what it looks like. I think he should have been out there today.
I doubt it was CMIII's decision to not suit up.

As far as Capers, I trust TT to make the correct decision. But I fail to see why he would get blame but others seem to love the defensive assistants. How good have the LBs been??? How good is the seconday, especially Safety??? Where's the improvement in the Dline???

Shields gone. Clay gone. What could we have expected?
With Shields they probably don't contain Kaepernick on those scrambles. With Jolly they maybe slow Kaepernick in the middle. With CM3 they probably keep Kaeprnick contained. But not having all three is a tough nut to overcome.

You don't fire or retain a coach based on one game, maybe not even one season. But face it, the defense has not lived up to expectations for at least 2 seasons, maybe 3. Since you can not replace all 26 players then the coaching is responsible. Time for you to retire Dom. I'm ready to move on. Not only with coaching but some players too. Raji, gone. Hawk, probably gone. Jones, gone. Wilson, gone. Jennings, gone. Bush, gone.
This is one game were the D performed DECENT. Giving up a the game winning drive is not exactly something I applaud. The fact that we are pointing to this game as some moral victory because we only gave up 23 in sub zero at home says it all.

Shields, clay and jolly were out there opening day. This sf offense just owns GB which, to me, is an indictment on dom.
If you're gonna replace Capers, you better have a replacement. Change doesn't guarantee success. If anything, they'll need time to adjust. Sure, point to the Saints, and I'll point to the Bears. I don't know if Dom should be fired, but anyone that thinks injuries did not play a MAJOR role in the defense's performance is not being objective. Look at the LB corp this season. Arguably the most important position in a 3-4 and which LB wasn't injured at all??? Hawk, that's about it.
Teams need depth to be successful. But when the depth continues to get hurt/miss games, no DC is gonna be successful.
