Glad youβre not in charge of the operation. I would probably be dead from drinking.
To paraphrase a quote we heard in politics this year---
"Today's the day MLF really became MM"
+ Crosby made it.
- we were down by 8...not 3
Just think...if the Packers had drafted a new kicker instead of a backup QB that FG would have been worth 9 points.
- Going for 2
- Kicking a FG
- Single high with 6 seconds left in half
- No PI all day except last drive of game
- Savage play
- Adams dripped TD
- Redmond dropped pick
- Jones fumble
Just another NFCC where everything goes wrong. At this point, our era is worse than the Jim Kelly Bills era

Stephen A. Smith:
As if drafting Jordan Love wasnβt bad enough, you just told
βI donβt trust you.β If Iβm Rodgers, I couldnβt even look at him. LaFleur is now that that Off. Coordinator with the 27th-ranked offense who didnβt deserve this job. I donβt care right now.#Shameful
This is a good team. Keep it going.
I hope this doesnβt stunt MLFs progress. It was a mistake made by a coach wh otherwise made choices all year long that helped us win. Unlike MM, we didnβt have to overcome his game management, he contributed via game management.

I guess this guy didnβt watch the first half when Pettine went single high with 6 seconds left.
Horrible decision to go for two probably influenced his decision to kick the FG. One bad decision causes another.

With all the potential probably 12.

He choked badly in the biggest game of his life.
Going for points with 40 seconds left on a 2nd and 18 from their own 30 in the first half.
Chasing points in the 3rd quarter on the 2 point conversion.
Leaving Turner on an island against JPP.
The FG attempt was just icing on the cake to a terrible game by MLF>

I had no issue with the call. We were really struggling at the goal line
They are who we thought they were. Shitty D and ST have plagued this squad ALL SEASON.
If there is not a change with one of those units at the top, we have a fucking problem.
This offense was plenty good enough to win this game.
FUCK YOU MURPHY!!!

How about the GM that decided to redshirt their draft class this year so they can go 8-8 in 2023?
How about a coaching staff that continually left King in situations he wasn't going to succeed in?
King was terrible, but no one knew his limitations more than the Packers staff and front office and they decided, nope I'd rather have Jordan Love.
I can't wait until we get a 20-plus page thread on going for the FG the way we did with not going for two against Arizona.
Wow, somebody decided to do a silent killer on my entire post.
That might go down as the worst call in the history of playoff football. 3 points was meaningless. We still needed a touchdown to win.
MLF has some explaining to do.
If you told me Brady would give us the ball 3 times, I would have no doubt we win by 17 minimum.
In the words of the late Denny Green, βThey were who we thought they were...and we let βem off the God damned hook.........WE LET βEM OFF THE HOOK!!!β
All that hard work this season and all weβve got to show for it is 1-4 record in the NFCCG and the 30th pick in the draft.

We're not there yet?
One other problem in this game. Tampa's offensive line and defensive line played better than our offensive line and defensive line. That's why we lost this game.
Positives:
Love got great experience seeing a real life NFC Championship game.
Negatives:
Kevin King convincing Pettine he could play, and Pettine forgetting Kevin King can't do a god damn thing.
MLF chasing points when he doesn't need them, and then ignoring them when he needs them.
MLF--instead of putting the game in Rodgers's hands--putting the game in Pettine's hands against Brady where a first down ends the game.
Pettine.
Special teams.
Another year wasted of Rodgers's career, which was statistically one of his best.
No sense of urgency in franchise leadership with the end of an era fast approaching.
Yes, they won one-on-one match ups except for Clark vs. their back up guard. Z. Smith was invisible today
I don't hate the FG more than I hate the two-point try.
It's hard to hate a call more than I did the two-point try.
It's hard to hate a call more than I did the two-point try.
Punting in the 2003 Philly game instead of going for it?
FUCK YO FIELD GOAL!
Really a perfect summation of this franchise over the past 10 years.
Led by a GM that does almost nothing to improve the holes in the team. Continually drafts for the mythical team of 3-4 years from now. Makes a rare leap in to Free Agency - has it show actual dividends - and then backs off of doing it again for god knows what reason. Feels like he does it once just to avoid the questions from the press/fans "but I did utilize Free Agency with [Woodson/Z Smith]!"
A Defense that depends on opponents making mistakes. A scheme that is good enough most of the time, especially vs the rest of the NFC North. But, against very good teams more often than not can't make the stops it needs to. Way too many 3rd down conversions, can't pressure the QB often enough, and has gaping hopes in the middle of the LB corp that just will not be filled by a franchise that seemingly doesn't value that position at all.
A Special Teams that continually is at the bottom of the league. That has ZERO ability to have any success returning the ball, that far too often gives up big returns at the most inopportune times, and makes enough mistakes every game that the best you can say about them is "Well, they haven't cost us a game yet". Until they do.
And an offense that is led by the best QB in the game and is so goddamned good that he single handedly is able to bail the team out more often than not. But, it's an offense that for the last 5 years has 1 talented WR, and a bunch of inconsistent guys that against very good defenses can't get open. And then they can't get open, it puts pressure on the OL. And that OL is generally up to the task, but when they aren't...
And a head coach that outsmarts himself. No idea why you're chasing points down 5. And I get, in the abstract, the idea of "get 3 here, force them to go 3 and out and win the game in regulation", but I mean with this D?
But at the end of the day for me - if the General Manager of this franchise has no desire to try and improve the team NOW and try to win NOW and try to take advantage of the window they have with AR, then there's no reason in the world for me to be bothered by the loss for more than 10 minutes. And, finally a hearty fuck you to Mark Murphy who cares more about saving money for his real estate deals than letting MLF hire the ST coach he wanted to.
It was absolutely clear where this team had issues after getting curbstomped by SF last year. ILB, WRs, DL. And, Gutekunst did zero to address these needs in any significant fashion. I guess you can say he got unlucky that Funchess opted out, but I mean, if that's your bold move... He spent 2 draft picks, including the 1st, to draft the 6th rated QB in the Mountain West. He drafted a 3rd string RB in the 2nd, a position that can be filled in later rounds seemingly every year. He drafted a 4th string TE that most had rated 2-3 rounds later in the 3rd.
Fire Pettine and Menega or don't. Do something in FA to upgrade the holes on this team or don't. Whatever. Being good enough and running a real estate business are the priorities of this franchise. For their sake, they better hope that Jordan Love can be "good enough"
@Herschel posted:I don't hate the FG more than I hate the two-point try.

That call was questionable but the play should have been executed.
Jaire with two picks and the offense going 3 and out on both of them.
@Goalline posted:I had no issue with the call. We were really struggling at the goal line
It looks bad now that we lost but we also needed to get that two point conversion. Essentially we needed to get into the end zone on back to back plays.
Rodgers definitely forces the ball to Adams, especially in the red zone.

Walmart thinking. I think McVince coined that.
Hard to knock MLF in either situation honestly. With the 2 pt try youβre trying to even the score and you put the ball in Rodgers hands...something everyone is bitching about him not doing with the FG. On the flip side your QB has missed 3 throws in a row and the defense has definite momentum AND your own defense has picked Brady 3 times in his last 7 passes. So youβre riding your own defense with the idea that your D will get a stop and Rodgers will score 7 and win it. If you miss the 4th down or you donβt get the 2 pt conversion then youβre in the same situation anyway, get the gimme points instead of chasing 8 at the very end. Chasing 5 is better than 8.
Didnβt hate the FG. You score you still need 2pt conversation and you give Brady 2 mins to get a field goal and then you still need to win OT if he doesnβt.
And the plan would have worked if the refs hadnβt decided to throw the first fβn PI of the entire game when they hadnβt called the 20 ones before that. They let the guys play... until the game was in the line. Absolute BS.

Hard to say. I will defer to him.
If Pettine and the special teams βcoachβ arenβt fired in the next 24 hours then Gute and Murphy need to step down immediately.
The defense has been a shit show for several years now regardless of talent. I donβt think weβve had a decent return guy since Roell Preston 20 years ago and our coverage units suck. Mase is awesome but thatβs it.
I thought that last drive was do or die. So if we dont get it our defense is out there and possibly holding them. Just don't get it or why AR didn't run for it.
