Well the solution is a simple one. Stop getting injured. It took me 4 seconds to think of that. Why do MM and his coaches continue to struggle with this simple concept.
Seriously, if this line stays healthy all year, WATCH OUT, NFL.

You really know how to cut through the BS dontcha GL?
I think its easier on an OL when the defense doesn't know if you're running or passing.
That hasn't happened for awhile.
3rd and 1, spread formation with 5 Wide kinda takes the mystery out of it, even for a mensa like Torrance Marshall.

Given our heinous injury record, that's a big IF.
this
I would love to see Sherrod fulfill his potential. We do not have an olineman as physically imposing as him.
Agreed. Wouldn't see him dislodging Bakh as the kid is a natural LT with better feet, but Derek could be a road grading RT. Move Bulaga to RG and then we're talking.
Or deploy Sherrod as a sixth OL. U78 has a nice ring to it.
U78 has a nice ring to it.
And given Sherrod's wingspan and skill set, that would be a killer passing formation...
6 OL and 4 WRs.
Miss the old U71. Would love to see MM bring a variant of it back.
Big Fat Heavy ( BFH) package with Barclay at TE and Raji & Boyd lined up as inverted wishbone

Line Cobb up in the backfield to maintain the run option.
3rd and 1. Sherrod, Bak, Sitton, Tretter, Lang, Bulaga. Lyerla at FB. Lacy at RB. Adams and Jordy out wide. Pound that ball behind Colt, Derek, Bak, and Sitton. Right?....Right??? Unless the best QB in football spots an overload and decides his guy is better than their guy and a mismatch is a mismatch.
Yeah, Lacy for two. First down. Best defense is a team that gets that yard because they can.

Oh, by the way, which one's 'Big'?
6 OL, 2 TE, Rodgers, Cobb and Lacy. Here comes the choochoo. Go ahead and try to stop it. Here he comes. Have fun with this.
And if you try too hard to stop him, you get this...
That would be fun.
3rd and 1. Sherrod, Bak, Sitton, Tretter, Lang, Bulaga. Quarless at FB. Lacy at RB. Adams and Jordy out wide. Only this time Q motions out. Pound that ball behind Derek, Bak, and Sitton. Right?....Right??? Unless the best QB in football spots an overload and decides his guy is better than their guy and a mismatch is a mismatch.

Yeah, Rodgers to Jordy back shoulder for 25. First down. Because sometimes the best defense has no idea what's coming.
Ted has taken a 15-1 team off the heels of a SB win and methodically made it arguably deeper, better at RB, locked up their two best players on both sides of the ball (and possibly the best player in football at the most important position) long term, built what could be the best OL in years with old school scouting, fought through losing hand picked pro bowl talent like Collins and Bishop without hitting the FA panic button while staying $14 million below the cap.
Sometimes its hard to thank the guy enough.
You're on fire Chilli'.
A little early to get too excited about the O-Line. But if things pan out right the Packers could be load at Offensive Tackle in a league so desperate for tackle help that Allen Barbie got a nice contract.
I wonder if Ted would trade one if the Packers get through training camp with all their O-linemen healthy?
Buddy of mine who coaches HS football in GB said he was at the OTA yesterday and said Sherrod is jumping around like a 6'5" 320lb boxer looking to get pads on and truck someone. He also said Bakhtiari looks like he could rep Sherrod 15 times.
No way any of these OL are leaving GB anytime soon.
While we're here. He said House looks fast, healthy, and hungry and Lacy looks bigger but quicker. Not faster. Just quicker. Like he's finding his NFL shape.
But what if it was 3rd and 1?
3rd and 1.
Handoff to Kuhn.
Measurement.
Discussion.
Go for it on 4th and inches. Hand the ball to Kuhn.
Measurement.
1st down.
3rd and 1.
Rodgers hikes the ball.
Steps back.
Breaks his leg. Lacy trips over his fat feet and gets a concussion. Bahktiari suffers a basal skull fracture. Jordy gets the AIDS.
4th down.

Wow, that is awesome. If, if, if Sherrod ends up being a substantial contributor at tackle...
So let me get way, way ahead of myself here. TT did not pick up the option for Sherrod for a fifth year.
Let's say Sherrod shows promise this year. Bak continues to grow and locks down the LT spot. Bulaga makes it through the year uninjured at RT. What does TT do? Offer contract to Bulaga with injury history, or Sherrod with injury history? Glad I'm not TT...
House always looks great in OTAs. His problem is when he has to put the pads on...

Let them both walk, take the comp picks and re-load.... like he always does.
We all are.
Agree with H5.
We've still got my man Don Barclay to play RT.
My first thought when they didn't exercise the option on sherrod was "they must not be very confident in his ability to perform if they're not interesting in the final year of a rookie contract" although that's still, what, $1.75 million?

I loved that formation. Unfortunately, my lasting memory of it is the time it failed on 4th down in Philadelphia in the playoffs (the play where Ahman Green tripped over Mike Wahle at the goal line).
I don't get why some are down on Davon House? He's not that bad of a player. He's better than Jarrett Bush but worse than Sam Shields. For a 4th round pick I think he's contributed just fine. Sometimes he is really good and sometimes he gets beat, but to me he does more good than bad. He also does well on ST's. Just because he's not an elite CB like Shields or isn't producing like other 4th rounders like Sitton or Lang doesn't mean he's a bad player.

Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!
I'm not sure if Barry was on the field for that one Pack-Man...but in an effort to exorcise that demon, now I'm going to look it up. Thx for forcing me to relive it
Just typical expectations. He looks the part and flashes ability to get everyone excited so when he does "OK", it is a disappointment.

That's rather pessimistic. Lacy for 6.

Thanks for restarting my brain bleed. The first one took years to clot. I'll keep you posted on this one's progress. Guh!

Looks like you're right. The gamebook on NFL.com doesn't say that there was a tackle eligible in for that play (I think they usually make a note of things like that in them). The way I remembered it, Sherman chickened out on the 4th down attempt in the 4th quarter because his U-71 package failed earlier in the game. Turns out Sherman is an even bigger wuss than I thought he was.
