BTW, those wondering who will be PUP'ed tomorrow, keep in mind players who report and practice tomorrow cannot be PUP at a later date. They either start off that way or they aren't eligible. As a refresher...

Players who are placed on the PUP list still count toward the 90-man roster limit. They can do everything but practice and participate in games with the team while they’re in training camp. They still have access to trainers and medical facilities and can take part in meetings. Players can be moved off PUP and onto the active roster at any time. Any player who practices on Tuesday will no longer be eligible for the PUP list.

Jordy Nelson, Jared Cook, Sam Barrington, T.J. Lang, Corey Linsley and Ty Montgomery all will start training camp on the PUP list es.pn/2a9Wlfx

The Packers also waived RB Don Jackson (non-football injury) and DE B.J. McBryde, which puts them at 88 on the... es.pn/2a9XvaV

Will be interesting to see when #Packers TE Jared Cook practices. Heard it may not be until second week of preseason, per league source.

What the **** do I know.

@jasonjwilde: Important scoop by @RobDemovsky: Jordy Nelson (and Jared Cook, Sam Barrington, T.J. Lang, Corey Linsley, Ty Montgomery) start camp on PUP.

@jasonjwilde: To clarify, Nelson, Cook, Barrington, Lang, Linsley and Montgomery presumably will all come off PUP during camp. Just not deemed ready yet.

A rich man's Walter Jones would make Spriggs one of the best tackles of all-time. I'd be thrilled with a rich man's David Bakhtiari.

Hard to compare eras, but you'd be hard pressed to find a player who played his position better than Walter Jones.  And we forget that he skipped OTA's and training camp three straight years b/c of the franchise tag, meaning he was part of an NFL team for just 17 weeks a year, and was doing his own thing for the other 35 weeks.  For three straight years.  Like DiMaggio's hit streak, Gretzky's points record, and Wilt's single game points record........I feel safe saying we'll never see a hall of fame performance three years in a row from a mercenary football player (for lack of a better word).

BTW, I just a live look/interview of WR Trevor Davis. He looks about 14-15.

Fu** I'm old.

I couldn't "like" your post but ain't that the truth.

How can you tell you're 50?
Friends and acquaintances around you are dying and/or getting diseases.  So this is what I get to do for the next 20 years or so if things stay status quo on my end?
Guess it beats the alternative but I ain't afraid of that either.

Linsey is least of our worries since Tretter is nearly as good. Disappointed in Cook being out. We were told back when he had his foot surgery that it was very minor & if done during the season he could have played the following week? Nelson is understandable. Monty is probably most concerning since his injury & possible return was a long drawn out affair last season, with the injury being more serious than first thought.

Agree.   It has to be something more serious than any of us know.  In 5 years, someone will write a book about the 2016 Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers and will tell us all the juicy facts about his injury.  Maybe he had an infection of some sort after the surgery ?

No long-term concerns with six players on PUP list to start camp

Posted by Mike Spofford on July 26, 2016 – 8:37 am

160726-montgomery-950GREEN BAY β€” The Packers placed six players on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list as training camp opened on Tuesday morning, including WR Jordy Nelson and TE Jared Cook, but Head Coach Mike McCarthy is not overly concerned with any of their injury situations.

The other players not practicing at the start of camp are WR Ty Montgomery, G T.J. Lang, C Corey Linsley and LB Sam Barrington.

McCarthy said that based on his conversations with team physician Dr. Pat McKenzie, none of the injury issues involving the six players is a long-term concern. He did not give a timeline on any players.

β€œI’m not concerned,” McCarthy said prior to Tuesday morning’s practice. β€œI think all six of those guys will come back at some point in training camp.”

Cook is the newest Packers player among the six, and he missed the tail end of the offseason program due to his foot injury, but McCarthy doesn’t believe it will take him long to get back up to speed once he returns to the field.

β€œHe looks good. Everything’s positive,” McCarthy said, regarding an offseason procedure on Cook’s foot. β€œHe’s a pro.”

As for RB Eddie Lacy, β€œEddie’s ready,” McCarthy said. β€œFrankly, I’m done talking about people’s weight … we all have things to work on, and Eddie’s ready to go.”

The Packers are beginning camp a few days earlier than usual because they are playing in the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 7, a fifth preseason game. McCarthy said that he’ll handle the veteran players appropriately with the longer camp and preseason, but the extended time is good for the young players.

β€œIt helps the evaluation process. I like the extra practice time,” he said. β€œWe’re a young football team, so we can’t have enough time. It’s something we’ll benefit from

@ByRyanWood: #Packers QB Brett Hundley zips a pass through tight coverage to TE Justin Perillo in middle of the field. A "Wow" throw.

@mikespofford: Hundley making some tough throws. Davis hauls one in on sideline, then Perillo over middle. Impressive accuracy #PackersCamp

@ByRyanWood: #Packers rookie WR Trevor Davis with a spectacular, leaping, one-handed grab of an Aaron Rodgers pass. Gets a nice applause from fans.

@RobDemovsky: Rookie receiver Trevor Davis is off to a fast start. Made an athletic move on a sideline catch and caught a contested deep ball. The fifth-round pick's speed has shown on the field.

@TomSilverstein: Rookie WR Trevor Davis with his third big catch of the day, bomb from Callahan over Josh Hawkins.
