@edwerderespn: #Packers believe @JordyRNelson knee problem is tendinitis the result of overcompensating during rehab. Not viewed as serious currently.

Yup, we need more pics of the bike owning sweetie!
It is not uncommon for some one coming off of an ACL or MCL to have problems pop up elsewhere due to other parts overcompensating. Keep your fingers crossed.
Last year he was coming off hip surgery as well if I'm remembering correctly. I wonder if the tweak was before or after the draft.
Next man up.....already?
Greg Jennings might be available

Don't some players pick the same person's bike every year (at least until the kid gets too old)? And even get to know the kids' families a bit?
I've always expected him to get busted for being a kiddie fiddler.
He probably wanted to mentor Colin Kaepernick, too.
Leaner Richard Rodgers already seeing results

GREEN BAY – In the aftermath of last season, Richard Rodgers had a goal for 2016.
Going into his third NFL season, the Packers’ tight end was looking to trim down to around 257 pounds, his NFL Scouting Combine weight from two years ago.
Rodgers, who played anywhere from 270 to 275 pounds last season, understood what it could mean for his game and worked tirelessly to hit the target in the six months leading up to training camp.
The early returns appear promising. When the Packers took the field for their first camp practice on Tuesday, Rodgers looked visibly leaner and felt faster in his routes.
“It helps being lighter just getting in and out of breaks, getting to points faster on the field,” said Rodgers, who hopes to play around 255 this season.
“It’s not a huge difference but it makes a big difference with the timing with Aaron (Rodgers) and getting used to it. Being able to run full speed the whole time instead of three or four plays just running full speed. Now I can run full speed every time I run a route.”
This offseason, Packers receiver Davante Adams saw firsthand how seriously Rodgers took the challenge. The two Californians and close friends frequently worked out together at the University of California-Berkley. continue
Looks like we have a new contender for the worst nickname in club history:
Free agent LaDarius Gunter, the third rookie, was active 50 percent of the time and played only 39 snaps. When the Packers concluded offseason workouts six weeks ago, Whitt called it almost dead even among the three.
“‘Gunt’ came out of (2015) preseason playing better than the other two,” Whitt said. “Some things that kept him from being up were special-teams things that I think we have addressed now."
Not a contender. Winner.
Dari. It's not hard. It's Wisconsin.
Gunt has to stop. Fast.
So Richard Rodgers was 275 lbs last year? Did the coaches think that was actually a good idea? Or was it a Lacy situation, where he couldn't keep the weight off? Maybe the Packers should hire Tony Horton full time.....
I heard they wanted Rodgers to bulk up for blocking. It didn't help.
Wow. Whoever thought that should be fired. May as well just put Tretter out there as a 6th o-lineman instead of asking Rodgers to get so big he can't run. Really hope his struggles in the passing game were related to being 15-20 lbs overweight.
Rodgers had more catches same yards and more TDs his first two years than Finley did. Finley was a freak of nature.
I think Rodgers is much better than his numbers show. His catch % is up there. I agree he needs to play smaller. I think he's a pretty good TE though.
The guy has soft hands and does a decent job of finding space.
Where he is lacking is an inability to break tackles and an inability to gain separation. Obviously he doesn't have the speed but he also lacks quickness to get that little bit of separation out of a cut that would allow him to use his frame to get position.
Outside of his Hail Mary he had few impact plays. A typical game felt like 4 catches for 20 yards. I also felt like he wasn't used correctly by the staff. How many times did we see a 2 yard pass to him on 3rd and 5 where he makes the catch but got dropped immediately?
He had a game with 3 catches at a 2.3 yard average. Less than 3 freaking yards per catch, that's not productive. I'm not being critical of him, I'm being critical of the staff for not using his skill set correctly.

■ DT Mike Daniels lit up rookie NT Kenny Clark on the sideline for a mistake he made, saying after practice that he was going to be tough on him because of how much the defense will need him this year.
■ On the final play of practice, the defensive linemen mobbed Clark because he corrected the mistake he had made earlier.
Eddie Lacy and the Packers Ride Again
by Peter King 7-27-16How near his regular playing weight of 235? (He looked about 235 or 240, but we don’t know. No one here was providing answers about Lacy’s weight.)
Coach Mike McCarthy said Lacy could not play at his 2015 weight in 2016. In his office Tuesday afternoon, McCarthy was philosophical about Lacy. “The only thing he worries about is disappointing his teammates,” McCarthy told me. “He’s a great teammate, he understands football, and he’s ready to come out and play well this year.”
I asked: “But didn’t he disappoint his teammates last year, playing so heavy?”
“That’s a good question,” McCarthy said. “There’s great accountability on this team. Eddie has come in with a great attitude.”
Biggest pressure points: To me, if the starting corners are Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins (and vet Sam Shields will have something to say about that), they’d be starting a classic Ted Thompson, draft-and-play-the-kids-early group.
Typical, gutsy move by the Packers, playing so many kids. “I like playing young people,” said Thompson. “There’s such an energy to your building when you have a lot of young players playing.”
4. Great point, Tom Silverstein. In our post-practice Facebook Live chat, the veteran Milwaukee Journal Sentinel beat man told me the Pack will have great motivation this year, with about 12 key players on the final years of their contracts—including Lacy and three offensive-line starters. Love that point. They’ll be out for their next (and in some cases, last) NFL paydays in 2017, and that will benefit the 2016 Packers. continue

F*ck waiting, this kid's getting after it. If you watched any of the ribbon cutting ceremony this kid did everyone a favor. Some of the honorable insurance sponsorship guys were up there basking in their endorsement glory and making 5 minutes feel like 30 with prepared speeches and lame jokes. All the kids wanted to do was ride and the suits were sucking the joy out of a simple tradition with a heavy dose of corporate cringe. I think the lesson we all learned here is some opportunists aren't beyond exploiting the dreams of children in a half-hearted attempt to gain favor with a community and soften the image of a widely disdained industry. (It's likely the speakers are nice people and I'm just disgusted by businessmen turning the bike ride into another marketing campaign)

McCarthy fired both the TE coach and the RB coach.
bless that kid for tearing down that ribbon!! spot on, titm, corporate whores sucking the beauty out of a simple beautiful tradition. I'd buy that kid another bike for doing that. I had no idea this had turned into another corporate grab.

@ByRyanWood: #Packers coach Mike McCarthy said offense had 19 big plays in 1st practice. "So the production was high."

Shields was really good last season. Unless Ted trades for Peterson and Revis in the next few weeks, he's starting in week 1.
TomSilverstein:Sam Shields picks off Rodgers deep after Janis misplays it by trying to get underneath Shields.
IanRapoport:Update on #Packers RB Eddie Lacy: He just made a sweet catch and ran fast afterward. Related: Not fat, anymore.
Think Pete King has his head up the rong hole again. Shields is starting. Interesting to hear Packers are rotating Randall and Rollins inside and outside at times today
Also hear Rollins has spent time returning punts today. I don't remember him doing this before.

I would bet most of the struggles he had last year were due to being so heavy. If you watched him last year he looked like he was running in concrete he was so slow.

Aaron Rodgers and Jeff Janis with a miscommunication against the blitz. Rodgers threw back shoulder and Janis ran a go route.

Stop me if you've heard this before...
Impressive day at the line of scrimmage for Brett Hundley. He's earned 3 free plays with his hard count. Wonder who he's learning from...
Davante Adams makes a tremendous leaping catch deep down field on a free play. Jumped over Rollins, who collided with Randall. #Packers
Adams pushed off from what I read, and Whitt was pissed there was no flag.
Adams with clear push off on Rollins on free-play deep ball. Adams catches, official holds onto his flag, much to the chagrin of Joe Whitt.
— Tom Silverstein (@TomSilverstein) July 27, 2016
From Demovsky: Davante Adams caught a bomb from Aaron Rodgers but Adams appeared to push off, sending Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins to the ground. After no call by refs, coach Joe Whitt told the two corners to just "take him down."
Janis and Rodgers still can't find the same sheet of music. There was another tweet about Rodgers throwing a back shoulder while Janis was running a go. Maybe AR is confusing JJ with his little bro.
Wait. A WR gets away with a push off? That never happens during real games.
