Going into draft where are we struggling to replace lost players?

OL Lost Lang and Tretter.  Lane has a year experience as a starter and the rookies are a  year smarter with a PS guy the team likes behind them.  Add a FA signing and Barclay a year further from ACL.  As good if not better than at start of 2016 season.

TE Lost Cook.  Found two guys that may be an upgrade over Cook.  Any luck at all Dick Rodgers only sees field on Hail Mary's.  Much Better.

WR Lost Aberederis.  To Badger alums an issue.  Nelson a year further from ACL. Adams and other kids a year smarter!  Janis?  Much Better.

RB Lost Lost Eddie Buffet Lacy and Starks.  Monty was WR until into season but has adjusted well.  Christine and Jackson can only be smarter.  Eddie and Starks were spectators most of season-Better and likely to add more.

QB A-Rod on Brady diet.  Two kids a year smarter.  Better

DL Lost Jones and Pennel.  Clark and the kids are all smarter and added a vet DT. Much Better.

Outside Linebackers Lost Peppers.  Perry has 2 arms again and Mathews gets to refocus.  Fackrell is a key along with can Eliott be a role player.  Even to slight lean better.

Inside Linebackers Everybody back and smarter.  Better.

Safety Lost Hyde.  Haha and Burnett are growing into as good a tandem as we have had in a decade.  Brice and some other kids may match or exceed Hyde.  Better.

Cornerback  Lost Shields who only played a couple plays.  The bigger question is dinged up Randle and Rollins.  Adding House is comforting.  Better health would make this group better without further additions.

Uncle Ted has removed pressure to plug gaping holes.  Need for another playmaker and overall depth on defense.  Nice place to be.

I still would like for us to try and trade out of the first and pick up the injured Sidney Jones. Good value pick in the early second round and still be able to get quality DE/OLB later in the second. Jones may even be ready sooner than later.  I know its a risk as the draft picking on the first day gets closer to our choice.

If no team bites then stick with our current plan.

No, they need to stay away from injured players PERIOD!!

Or just wait until they arrive to get injured? Injuries happen, we can get ahead of the curve on this one.

Seriously, its a chance to get a real game changer who recovers with our staff and can be a real game changer down the road.

Yeah, but with the Packers' medical staff?  I don't know, he may not get cleared for 3 years.  And with the injuries this team seems to get regularly, I'm not sure I would trust them.

Why not both? Always counting on tomorrow at the expense of today is a fool's errand, while only worrying about today often leads to lean days in the future. It would be different if he had a torn pectoral muscle, then you'd think "okay, even if it doesn't come back 100% it's no big deal", but an Achilles? There's more risk involved.

I guess that opens up the question of drafting players with injuries. As has been pointed out, some injuries are worse than others and a players injury history has to be factored in. Because this is a draft thread, its a legitimate question. Also, sports medicine has improved over the years. I remember when ACL injury's were considered a possible career ender. We just picked up a player with an injury history from the Bears. So, its a risk/reward issue. If this team sees a player in the draft who has the potential for a very high ceiling why not consider drafting him and waiting. I realize this goes against the "win now" attitude that many have. Yet I believe this team is one that always looks to the future and think that drafting an injured player is worth considering if the possible reward in the future is worth it and should not be dismissed out of hand.

I see stuff now about Fournette possibly dropping also. The idea being not many of the lower-drafting teams  need RBs and the QBs may not go until the 20s or later, meanwhile those later teams will likely be looking for pass rushers and cover guys , so early teams would rather have a Solomon Thomas and a Alvin Kamara than a Leonard Fournette and a Daeshon Hall.

I still doubt Fournette falls out of the top-15, but I suppose anything is possible.

The Patriots are already out a first-rounder. I wonder if they're trying to swing Butler for Sherman.

Then again, a first for Sherman is probably a lot since he's 29.

However, the Saints could go slightly lower. They'd essentially give up Brandin Cooks and the #42 (or maybe #76 if the relationship has soured that much) pick for Richard Sherman and the #32.

Then again, maybe a three-way (Butler to the Saints, Sherman to the Patriots, picks to the Seahawks). That would be fun.
