Here’s a weird “what if” scenario: the draft is loaded at RB so teams may feel they can wait. What do you do if Ashton Jeanty is on the board at #23? He’d easily be the proverbial “Best Player Available”, so would you draft him regardless of need?
I doubt he’s there, of course, but the same could hold true for someone like Malachi Starks at Safety. If you truly want to compete for a championship now, how much need and “positional value” are you willing to overlook?
RB Bijan Robinson was the last "generational" RB available in the Draft. Gute passed on him, meaning, he did not move up to get him. Robinson went pick #8, to Atlanta, in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Packers drafted Van Ness at the 13th spot, in that draft.
Remember the Aaron Rogers draft when the cameras kept watching him squirm as he was passed over time and time again?
I’ve decided I want that and MORE to happen to Shedeur Sanders this April. I’m just so sick of the Sanders hype machine. The kid hasn’t played a single snap in the NFL and he’s already demanding that teams listen to him. It’s just so annoying. I can just imagine what Vince Lombardi would have thought of him.

The media is complicit in this sham. Were he just another athlete, not from the loins of Deion, he wouldn't be getting near this amount of hype.
But someone is going to be dumb enough to take him in R1. Then we will hear for the next 5 years how nothing is his fault. It won't happen because they just got their next bust, but there was never anyone that was more destined to be a Bear than Shadeur.

Oh I think Vincent Lombardi would have had no reservations passing on him if he didn't think he wouldn't fit in the "team".
One tried and true thing about the draft is that one team will believe the hype, is dumb historically, or the organization is desperate for a QB in order to save jobs will take him. The first 3 teams in the draft TN, Cleveland, and NYG all need a qb and one of them I think just might pull the trigger.
He and his family may be a handful but from what I have seen, read and heard he has plenty of talent. Risk , reward situation.
Whoever drafts him might need to bring in Johnny Money as a QB consultant to tell Sanders how it is.
35 guys ran a sub-4.45 this year, with a few more who didn't run likely to break that at their Pro Days.
Packers have a lot of potential receivers in today's drills: Fast as heck and hands of fucking stone.
Jack Bech is fun to watch, though.
Never heard of this guy but he appears to fit Gute's parameters in terms of size and RAS....and supposedly no drops last year.https://www.msn.com/en-us/spor...419cd20c71&ei=38

What round does he project?
Round 6-7, probably. He's really raw and has short arms. Did have a good Senior Bowl, though, so someone will probably throw a pick at him.
Another guy they could be interested in on Day 3 as even a bit taller version of MVS is Dont'e Thornton from Tennessee. He ran faster than I thought he would with a 4.30 40. He gives effort as a blocker, though he wasn't really beefy enough to move non-DBs.

Jayden Higgins probably made some money this weekend. The big question was sufficient speed and he ran a 4.47.
Antwan Wells probably lost money. He was a 'cock transfer to Ole Miss and didn't have a good year. He was maybe a "his best year wasn't his last" candidate but he measured in at 6'1" and ran a relatively poor 4.58.

You mean there is such a thing?
Swinson seems awfully light for a Gutekunst edge. I'd love a bendy guy but Gutekunst seems more enamored with stout edges who are 270# early/with resources (Preston, Z'Darius, Gary, Van Ness, even James Looney late).
That kind of leaves Jared Ivey, Jordan Burch, Sai'vion Jones, Elijah Roberts and Tyler Batty with Burch and maybe Ivey the only early round guys.
Even Shemar Stewart was #267.
Ohio State churning out the centers it seems.

BPA at that slot...I wasn't just going to pick some shitty safety from Iowa there.
7th round pick....Right down the Medrano

I keep wondering if they’re going to part ways with Kenny Clark after this season. He turns 30 this season and has a lot of mileage (along with a contract out after this season) , and he did have kind of a down year last season, but every time I look at a first-round DT like Grant I almost feel, I don’t know how to describe it, guilty(?), like I’m unfairly predicting his playing demise, or something. Guy’s been a mainstay on the D-line since he was 20.
Another First Rounder to keep an eye on is Harmon DT from Oregon. At WR Higgins make the most sense, but idk if the Packers will have him valued high enough at 23, and he may not be there in the Second Round.
