Shouldn't we?

We've got arguably the best QB in the NFL, and the 2nd most important position on the team is LT, for good reason. Shouldn't we have a good backup LT?

This response seems appropriate to re-post.

The real problem is the number of NFL teams. The impact of injuries would diminish if the talent pool wasn't spread so thin.

Marshall Newhouse is the starting RT for the New York Football Giants and he wasn't even good enough to be a back-up in GB. Breno Giacomini ? Starting RT for the J-E-T-S

Perhaps that speaks to the availability of "competent" NFL OTs...

I'm pretty sure they know they have a "competent" backup LT in Bulaga who would be better than anybody they could acquire at this point.  And trading a high pick from next year for that mythical LT?  I hope you don't run into TT at the grocery store.

There are plenty of "competent" third tackles around the league.

To put your above example into proper context, Newhouse is only starting because Will Beatty got hurt in OTAs. Otherwise he'd be the third tackle. Giacomini has developed into a pretty good player. It just took him a while. So maybe Vujnovich will be that competent third tackle for the Packers... in 2017.

Personally, I wouldn't count Marshall as competent, but I do agree on Guacamole, he turned into a decent player

Its not unlike having asbestos in your building - its simply cheaper and safer for everyone to live with it than to go through the hassle & hazards of trying to remove it

So, how did YOU get in here?

Remember this post in month.

That was today. Speculation from the media is he must be getting very close.

Funny you mention it. He returned to practice for the first time since the concussion today, watching from the sidelines. That is an indicator that he is close to finishing his concussion protocol.

Also funny because he probably cuts on a dime better than anyone still on the 2015 roster, besides Cobb. Hopefully, the kid can bounce back and have a nice career here in GB. I have the same doubts, but, would like to see him be a player here.

Word.

But you can't teach 6'5.

And you can't teach speed either.

Aside from a character issue (that'd be my only guess), seems quite odd he'd be cut. Even with Gerg on that roster.

I wish they would give someone else a shot.   Tretter or Walker couldn't be worse, could they?  Tretter was the backup T last year, at least let him compete for the job this year.

Barclay has been a complete turnstile.

I like Walker there a lot. Think he could do something. Ebbele has good feet and some technique, but is about a year or two away from filling out that 6-8" frame NFL style. Don't see Vujnovich there, but I'm sure we will see him plenty on Saturday. Who knows?

LT depth was one of my biggest disappointments coming out of this last draft.
