Is Oakland his only other option? Does any team with a good QB and a decent chance of winning want him ( other than GB)? I am not a cap/salary wizard like some of you guys but how about the Donkeys? They just saved a bit on Manning, are perhaps losing J Thomas and Welker is fragile to say the least. Cobb to me would be a great fit, but again I have no idea how the money would work.
I'm not going to get mad at Cobb, if he goes for the dough. I think he'll stay with the Packers, but who knows. If he does go to OAK, he probably won't put up the numbers, but OAK is on the upswing, IMO. That division, is for the taking, Peyton = done, SD = crapshoot, KC = smoke and mirrors, OAK, has a potential good QB, maybe Cobb, a good D, the GM is from the TT branch.
If Cobb does go elsewhere, Pack will be sitting pretty with plenty of cap room. Maybe they make a run at a big FA or 2...
...Nah
They have too much cap room to not sign someone if Cobb goes. Unless they just decide to give House the stupid money that is being rumored for him instead, they're going to have to bring in a FA.
Thanks, Goldsty.
I am sure there are more teams interested in Cobb. But they are run better than OAK or JAX so we're not hearing about their interest.
According to Pro Football Focus, opposing quarterbacks completed 63-of-98 passes (64.3 percent) for 743 yards and eight touchdowns against Williams' coverage for a 101.7 passer rating, the highest of his career.
CB's sadly is one of those positions where the wheels can fall off very quickly. I understand the low ball offer (if it's true) with Tramon. It'll be interesting to see what offers he gets in FA
And yet, according to Pro Football Focus, Williams still graded out higher than Shields and House.
None of those three had stellar years. They were all up and down so whoever is first or last among them does not surprise me.
I'd sign Julius Thomas. He's still just 26. You now have your Finley type TE back.
Put Adams in the slot.
Leave Jordy on the outside.
Either develop Janis and Abracadabra as your 3rd or draft one in a rather rich 2015 WR class.
Then re-sign Bulaga.
With Lacy to the mix as a good receiving screen RB that's a lot of good options for the best QB in the NFL not to mention you leave a very good OL intact.
Me likey!

well, you never know...could be
Tramon Williams at age 32 is not a good thing.
Re-sign Bulaga and no one else. Sign a fee agent ILB and DT.
Draft a CB in round 1 or 2âĶdraft a WR early and a scatback like Abdullah will fall to us at some point. Another CB in the 5th or 6th round and not much has been lost.
By a healthy margin.

Suh is well suited to be a Raider.
Rumor is $58 million guaranteed from the Raiders. More than Rodgers?!?! No effin' way is he worth that kind of coin.
I think Reggie must've been sleeping through most of Ted's front office meetings.

Well unless the Raiders show significant improvement, this is Reggie's last year. Some thought it should have been last year. It's not his money, may as well go out and spend as much as he can to try and save his job.
It depends, there's not a lot to spend the money on in Oakland and they have to spend, so if there's only a couple of guys they want to bring in, front-load the guaranteed cash, and move forward from there.
a la Gerg Jennings.
He'll go to a ****ty team to make more money, his production will drop off and after a few years he'll be asked to take a pay cut.
They call me Nostradamus.
I like Cobb and hope they can resign him but Jordy is the more valuable receiver on the team. Cobb is a very good slot receiver period. Nelson can play the slot and outside adding more versatility in case of injuries. I don't see TT giving Cobb more money than Nelson this soon after Nelson's deal from just last summer.
What is Raji's status? I know he signed a 1 year deal last year, is he an UFA?
Yes, UFA.
Injured UFA who seriously under-performed in his last contract year.
Why did he under-perform in his contract year ?
Because he is lazy? ;-) Because the guy with the terrible combover was running the defense? ;-) There are other theories. I am not sure I buy them though.
What are the other theories, cause I am not buying the ones you offered
What else ya got ?
I think a lot of it was him being forced to play out of position. He is not a 3-4 DE. I think if he was able to play NT, you'd see a better player. I heard great things about him this last year, being on the sideline every game and being at the facility every day. That's not something a lazy player does.
excellent post CU
And not only was he out of position in the "old" defense, he was being asked to 2-gap when his better fit is as a 1- gap penetrator. They did this to accommodate Pickett who was a very talented NT.
Spill it Pickett !
Ok, add one trick pony to his resume.
Raji was ineffective most of his time in GB, chances are that will continue if they re-sign him. He was adequately replaced be the Viking reject Guion. Raji is nothing special.
He has pistons for thighs. As strong as a hippo & collapses the pocket. It sucks he couldn't play NT last year due to his torn bicep.
Raji will "adequately replace" Guion in 2015.
I'm with the boss on Raji. He's a natural NT, played out of position in GB for most of his time with Pickett around. Bring him on back.
Geddy is more of a baseball guy, but Neil likes football.
Raji as a true NT would have been an improvement over Guion, who showed flashes of being good but was never consistent. I think Dom was hoping Raji could move to DE and use his quickness, but the more area Raji has to cover it seems the less effective he is. He did pick off the pass in the playoffs on a drop, but even a blind squirrel... Put him inside in a small space where he can best use his quickness. I think he'll be motivated this year if they bring him back on a one year "prove-it" contract.
You get that from me thinking we don't need Kuhn and Raji is overrated?
Yeah, whatever. Who else have I criticized?
