I think they'll bring back either Raji or Guion, and either Perry or Neal.  But not both.  I think Perry is a goner, even though I do like him more right now than I did last year.  He's become a solid 3-4 OLB (when healthy) but he'd be a better 4-3 DE and he has to know that.  It's probably more "does Perry want to be here" than "does TT want him to be here".  And I just can't see Neal getting much interest on the FA market.  He's never been more than a rotational player.

Raji and Guion will be interesting.  Both are good but inconsistent.  Raji has become an enigma; I just don't get what happened to him after 2010.  We've all chimed in but this was the year everything came together - he was back at NT, he had a fire lit due without a long-term contract, he was back in shape, etc.  But he was just ok this year.  Does he come back cheap?  Or does TT ignore Guion's off field issues b/c he's a slightly better player?  I think it'll come down to price and whether or not the off-field issues with Guion are real (some article was posted ripping Guion that the Packers said was a bunch of BS).

They just can't let all 4 go.  That leaves them with 2 NFL caliber OLB's (CMIII and Peppers), 1 NFL caliber ILB (Ryan......maybe), 2 NFL caliber DT's (Daniels and Pennel) and a tweener without a position (D Jones).  Elliott, Mulumba, Palmer and Thomas are all still huge question marks (although Elliott is closer than the others).  That is a thin front 7.

I think Perry is gone to a 4-3 team. Neal, Raji and Guion are all guys who should come at a decent price and could (should?) be back.

The Packers need more linebacking talent, regardless. As it stands right now, even if Neal returns, they don't have a single, full-time linebacker at any position on the roster. Position flexibility and depth is great, but so is having a couple of anchors who are available, accountable and don't suck rancid dingo kidneys.

Yeah I think he definitely targets front 7 early and often. Historically that's the area he goes to in round 1, especially when he has needs. Christian Ringo, even if he makes a big leap, isn't a starter but rather a rotational/situational guy. He's also not an NT and not built to be a run stuffer.

Unless Guion really wants to be in GB, I think another team offers more. Raji isn't what he used to be, but he's a serviceable space eater. Pennel will overtake him full time next year, but another body is needed for the future.

The "Gold"  uni against the unfrozen green tundra of Lambeau would be visually stunning. Not many teams can color coordinate the whole stadium including the turf like that.

And I'm being serious....although I'm sure there are some Luddites around here that will have conniption fits about it...as soon as they chase the neighbor kids off their lawn again.

The multi-cultural benefits are incalcuable. And we all know, multi-cultural benefits are all that matter in this world.

African Americans and Pollocks LOVE bright yellow. Dat's a fact.

Who else on the planet could bring those two groups together ...other than "Your Green Bay Packers"?

I weep with PC goodness emanating from my pores.

I like the green way better than the yellow.

That was an interesting rant.  Clever call on the yellow unis.  Other than looking like a bunch of highlighters, how will anyone be able to tell if a flag was thrown?

I don't know.  I see a lot of diversity in that picture.  There's Krauts, Polacks, Hebs, Micks, Wops, and the other usual suspects.    2-9-1 Season.  Last Place.  Go figure.

I'm guessing you have relatives with a junkyard in Manitowoc.

Other than that, I don't give two ****s about the uniforms.  The NFL is going to what they do, which is spin out more **** to buy.

Touche. Sissy boys always be obsessing over fashion. I don't give a **** what the Packers wear. Just hit somebody.

As plugged in to 1265 as anyone:

@RapSheet: While #Panthers & #Broncos  prepare for #SuperBowl50, the #Packers sit home after what those inside called the most difficult season in years.

@RapSheet: Key part of #Packers plan to return to dominance: GB wants Eddie Lacy to lose 30 pounds. He's committed to it, thru camp or fitness program.

I wonder why they think it had to be so difficult?

Losing Nelson and some minor OLine injuries shouldn't have turned things into the disappointment we saw this year.

That is what I am thinking.

After the preseason trumpeting of how MM was going to give up playcalling to focus more on other aspects of the team and then taking over the playcalling midseason and already announcing he'll be doing it next year says a lot about what kind of clown show must have been going on.

It wasn't that we lost A receiver, we lost THE receiver that allowed the whole passing game to work.  That group needs 1 guy to be a boundary/deep threat to loosen things up for the rest, as well as for the running game.  We unfortunately lost THAT guy.  Should an offense depend that heavily on 1 WR?  Probably not (ask DET) but there was a bargeload of other "smaller" issues (including coaching) that made it impossible to recover.

That group could have probably lost everybody but Jordy and it would have fared better with him, Jared and Janis than what we had.

I think that the fault lies with the receivers and tight ends. The lack of quickness and ability to get open was obvious to me. They really are not that good! (Except for Jordy of course). Add to that not being able to catch makes everything worse in my opinion. And one more thing... just exactly who is responsible for coaching them? Too many dual coaching responsibilities.

Agreed. And yet, almost everyone who was most directly involved will be back - Clements, Van Pelt, and Edgar Bennett.

The firings of the TE coach and RB coach seemed somewhat cosmetic.

Firing Fontenot because RichRod couldn't run and that he couldn't get some UDFAs to play at an NFL level seems unfair. Sure, Whitt did a great job with some rookies at DB, but Randall and Rollins were 1st and 2nd round picks.

Firing Gash because Eddie Lacy couldn't step away from the buffet lines may have been a little more fair if you consider Starks developing a fumbling problem and Harris obviously screwed up.

Still curious how they can bring Clements back after being demoted.

I think the coaches also fail to use Cobb to his fullest potential. Simply using him in the slot, which they did for basically most of the season, isn't getting the most out of him. Abbrederis can play the slot just fine, Cobb can move around and do a lot of things to create mismatches and use his skills to their best effect. Sure, he should be there some, but trying to run a spread pass version of the Lombardi Sweep never really worked. He can be a toy, use him as such instead of pidgeon-holing him. We started to see more of that again in the playoffs.

Mike has been ill (in fact briefly hospitalized).

Staff has been sun-and-funning it in Hawaii this past week.

Suspect other shoes will be dropping soon.

Speaking of Phat Eddie, I wonder if we'll see a thinner MM, especially after that illness. I have seen more then a few people who had to be hospitalized with stomach illnesses lose a lot of weight just from being sick and not being able to eat.

Coaching was a huge problem this year, just like the three previous.  Only this time is was the offense and not the defense.

Mike needs to get his **** together.
