I hear that foo schnickens. What Neal did with the position change and body transformation in such a short period showed that he is an unreal athlete. Seems like the type of player capers can let fly once he grasps the position entirely.

Opps somebody already posted this on another thread. But it is such gig news I am posting it again.

BIG BIG BIG NEWS

This should have a  forum all its own.

Bears jump on ' Jennings. RT : LM: have agreed to terms with safety M.D. Jennings on 1-year contract

Forget the season, just proclaim the Bears the champs. What you guy think 30 million for one year, plus roster and performance bonus.

And for the challanged

So far I like both players TT has decided to keep.. I hope that's it for that side of the ball though.

Next up, EDS on a short term deal.   It would be worthwhile to overpay him a bit because we don't know what we have in Tretter and we have zero depth at G / C.

Edit- Keep Latimore as well.

Bet Rodgers, Jordy, Cobb, et al, are excited about the MD Jennings signing!

I think Neal could be a far better player this year now that he has a better grasp on the position -- and if he stays healthy. The guy is an athlete.

So do you give the half mil, or cut him?

LOL that's chump change.  Hawk has seen the field more than probably any player in the last five to seven years.   He's done his job.  Not a flashy player but a stalwart.  Cut him...What are smokin dude?

bull****.  He's the most overrated Packer since AJ Hawk.  The sooner we upgrade the middle of the defense the better.

Neal isn't ever going to be a complete OLB but he did some nice things last year, particularly with pressuring the pocket.  I think he's a solid rotational signing.

I'm glad he's back. The problem is they need a couple more like him for Matthews' next hammy pull and Perry's seasonal yeast infections. A lot of the guys like him are also now signed elsewhere.

Seattle will take risks on guys many other teams won't. You have to think if he was even close medically they would have offered him a contract.

Packers announced they officially have re-signed LB/DE Mike Neal and TE Andrew Quarless.

Have to imagine they told Quarless starting TE job is up for grabs. Just don't have a good feeling GB will clear Finley..and if they don't do it, well, see Nick Collins

@TomSilverstein: Quarless signing makes you wonder if they brought in Owen Daniels yesterday to pressure him to take their offer. Just a thought.

Ted wouldn't do this, would he?

Love watching professionals at work

The Packers won a Superbowl with Quarless as the starting TE.

Quarless isn't flashy, but I think he is a good player to have on the team.  I am hopeful that his performance will improve being another year removed from his ACL injury.

I wouldn't put it past TT to draft a TE this year though.

They also won a Super Bowl with Eric Walden as the starting OLB and B-Junk as the nominal starter at RB. Should they trade Lacy too?

I would like to see Daniels signed or draft a guy relatively high (pre-5th, preferably pre-4th round) who's a stronger receiving threat. Quarles is a decent role player but not a guy you don't look to get a better starter than.

With the possible exception of safety (maybe the pack is counting on Hyde) the Packers now look to have every position staff with a good enough guy(and yes Hawk and Jones quality as good enough). Come the draft Ted will not be in the position were he has to draft a position early. In the first round an unexpected  TE, Linebacker, Safety, D line, or Wide Receiver very well may fall to 21 and Ted will not have to pass on the guy to take a position of need.

I'm 99.9% sure a deal is imminent. Jon Schneider is out of the country, on vacation with Finley's neurosurgeon and primary care physician.

That's quite the loose definition of "good enough" if you define a defense that allows 27 pts a game, 24th in the NFL, as good enough.  If that's good enough, then yes, you are correct, we have every position staffed with good enough talent.

Well yes good enough is a low standard another way to put it is the player is just a guy. MD Jennings was not good enough to be a starter, the team had to make extra ordinary measures on the field to cover up his spot.

If the Packers had a big zero in a spot going into the draft that would probably result in Ted reaching in the first to get a any guy. Ted then would very well have to pass on a difference makers.

Not sure who the DE is opposite Datone Jones. Maybe it is Nick Perry. Not sure if he could hold up as a DE but at least he would be on the right side. I have a sense that Ted is going to draft one of those big tall DEs in the first round, Either Hageman or Tuitt. Might be the thinnest area of the team with nobody to pencil in there. At least Hyde could start at safety and Quarles could start at TE but no one is on the roster for DE.
