"...The Packers installed their dime (four cornerbacks) defense, and first-round pick Damarious Randall was the fourth cornerback joining starters Sam Shields and Casey Hayward, and nickel back Micah Hyde. In a 2-minute period near the end of practice Randall made a highlight play when on first-and-goal from the 8 he turned to the ball at the last moment and intercepted Rodgers’ pass to Davante Adams in the back of the end zone. Rodgers ran downfield and disputed the call because he thought Randall was out of bounds."

Randall is making plays early in camp

I was very skeptical of the Montgomery pick but I really hope he proves me wrong.  Sounds like he's well on his way.

8:25am and it was a little too quiet at
#‎Packers‮ training camp, Day 6 during fundamental drills. Mike McCarthy went into Tony Soprano mode that would have made James Gandolfini blush. Suddenly the tempo changed dramatically, and quickly. The assistant coaches all more vocal. A long practice. McCarthy says tight end #89 Richard Rodgers has not only improved on offense, but special teams. "I mean he blocked a couple of kicks today." Clay Matthews out a second day with knee soreness. Eddie Lacy left at end with sore feet. A helmet collision between Randall Cobb and Morgan Burnett diving for an Aaron Rodgers pass scary, but both returned to action. Updates everyday on 105.7 FM The FAN - MIKE CLEMENS

Here is my brief Day 4 report as I didn't get a chance to post it yesterday:

- Saw more consistency from the backup QBs, but not much more. Both missed on some intermediate sideline throws.

- Matthews and Neal being out gave some young guys like Vaughters and Rasco some PT. Neither was very impressive IMO.

- Myles White looks quicker and faster and more comfortable with the scheme. He's gonna be a hard cut, but ultimately I think he goes.

- Randall got schooled by our starting WRs a couple times. I think he's figuring out he can't rely only on his athleticism.

- Rollins worked exclusively in the Slot and I didn't see him really get tested much.

- Sean Richardson is all over the field, it's clear he's in the plans for this D this year. He's not just a backup/ST player.

- Shields got burned a couple times early in the day and rebounded really well!

- Nate Palmer appeared to be the top backup ILB behind Ryan.

- I love this rookie OG Josh Walker (Middle TN). He's huge and looks like he can play. He also seems to have a good attitude...he seems like he's always talking to coaches and taking mental reps between real reps.

- Daniels is the emotional leader of this team, he's working hard to keep everyone fired up. His language was shocking some of the more sensitive types in the crowd.

- Quarless was back out there and looked good. Looks like a veteran who knows the offense.

- Rookie WR Jimmie Hunt made a couple more good catches. He's gonna be a good PS player.

- Janis looked pretty good, he ran good routes and caught the ball cleanly. Not afraid to go over the middle also.

- Ty Montgomery looks fantastic. Caught the ball well, runs his ass off and makes people miss. He's gonna get some really favorable matchups year and kill it.

- Thornton was sluggish. I wasn't impressed with him today.

Here is my Day 5 report:

- Cobb took a nasty hit to the legs that I was sure would be bad. He got up slow and looked upset. The Safety (maybe Banjo?) dove for the ball that was overthrown and I guess didn't see Cobb running. Scary situation!

- Randall got schooled by Nelson on a long ball from Rodgers. Nothing those two haven't done to two dozen other CBs, but it was probably a good "welcome to the NFL" moment for the rookie!

- Sean Richardson dropped down to an OLB spot a couple times.

- Sam Shields had a really nice day. He closed fast and shut out Adams who looked visibly frustrated with getting blanketed.

- Rajion Neal was running hard. If they keep 3 RBs I think the #3 is his job to lose unless Crockett comes back and lights it up. Neal has shown versatility as a runner and receiver.

- Goodson had a couple nice breakups. First time I've really noticed him.

- Joe Thomas seems to have everything you want in an ILB except size. He's short and thin.

- Mike Pennel looks leaner than last year. I think he cut a lot of fat.

- Montgomery looked killer again. Really fast and even though it was "no tackle" he still avoided getting touched. Looks like a steal who is poised for a rookie season similar to Cobb.

- Christian Ringo is lightning fast. He was living in the backfield in several different drills. Mike Daniels seems to have taken to him because he was cheering the kid on.
