I like the guy. He's a good coach whose tenure outlasted his effectiveness. Moreover, he's a good guy. That's why he won in GB, and ultimately why he saw the door as well. But when the spectrum spans all the way from "great job opportunity" to "death sentence" a guy like Mike may very well get chewed up and spit out.
That's the best part of this whole thing...Skippy spent 13 years giving McCarthy the backhanded finger, and now he's gotta slid his tongue right up against his taint.
Two notes on new #Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy:
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 6, 2020
1. He signed a 5-year deal with Dallas, source said.
2. McCarthy likes OC Kellen Moore, I’m told. Nothing more firm than that, but it does seem like McCarthy is more than open to keeping him.
Will Zeke see 10 carries a game?
Also no need to find a pass catching TE for the roster now.

Of course MM likes Moore ... because Jerruh told him he needs to keep him as his Offensive Coordinator.

You certainly are a wordsmith.
At least now we know what play Dallas will run every 1st and 10-----a run up the middle for 2 yards.

ESPN reported the interview went so well that McCarthy remained in Dallas on Sunday and spent the night at Jerry's house Saturday night.

Zeke will alternate drives with the other back.

BREAKING: Cowboys sign John Kuhn to 5 year deal.
Saints will trade Taysom Hill to the Cowboys for a first round pick. MM will keep him inactive.
This is going to be loads of fun. The media is just going to destroy him and I can't wait to see his reactions.

one of my favorite,
“I understand why you’re asking the questions. That’s part of the deal,” McCarthy said following the loss. “We’re about winning football games. We didn’t do enough. I didn’t do enough. I need to coach better.
The question I want an answer on, will jerruh ask MM to consider seeing his plastic surgeon to trim that second chin?
I find this thread interesting in the fact that many think GM Jerrah is the root of all the Pokes' problems but many also think M3 is walking into a boatload of talent.

No but he obviously didn't blow anyone away like MLF did in GB and Chilly did in Minnesota.
I guess he blew them away. Or just blew Jerry.
Ha! I didn't see the part where he stayed another day in Dallas after his interview. That would have changed my opinion quite a bit.
Poor Zeke Elliott. I hope he doesn't mind splitting 20 carries a game with 2 other RB's!
I'm laughing at you guys....because I know he has it in him.
Forget the Ryan Grant 200 yd rushing game vs. Seattle in the snow in the playoffs??
All the hatred for a guy that did a lot of good for the Green Bay Packers. Winning isn't easy in the NFL and the Packers won a lot while he was there.

I forgot about Cobb; unless you think MM will push for Ty Montgomery to be signed.
This is going to be a stressful job. I'm putting the over/under on his weight at 375 two years from now. He's going for the Andy Reid look, minus the stache.

...due to his lack of versatility
Reports that Mike Nolan will be named DC.
It was beyond time for MM to go in GB, we all know that. I wish him well in Dallas... I have a weird feeling he may do alright there.

I would have been much more pumped for higher-risk, higher-reward Urban Meyer ... or if Jerry had traded for Sean Payton, or talked Cowher out of retirement or even talked Belichick into taking over the Cowboys. KABOOM! But Mike McCarthy ... isn't bad.

Jerry obviously was drawn to Mike McCarthy because he won his Super Bowl at JerryWorld and knocked Jerry's team out of the playoffs twice (DezCaughtIt and Mason Crossbar). If you can't beat him, hire him, I guess.

After Coach Clap, Jason Garrett, I wanted some charisma, magnetism, firey leadership. Mike McCarthy makes Jason Garrett look like a dynamic motivator.

Getting fired was probably the best thing that could have happened to MM. If you don't learn something from being fired, from ANY job -- much less as an NFL coach -- then you're going downhill. Being fired gave MM a kick in the butt to change. The stories on him lately show him as being really reflective and trying to figure out what went wrong in GB and how he's going to fix it. And he's trying to update his playbook and coaching methods. We'll find out just how well he does, but if those things are true he could very well do big things in Dallas.
I hope he does a great job -- and loses to GB every single time!

And MM getting fired years earlier is probably the best thing that could have happened to fans of the Green Bay Packers.

I think MM's day has passed.
McCarthy sleep over at J. Jones house.
McCarthy expects to be in charge. But that job is taken.

I always hope Dallas goes 0-16 every year, and I see no reason whatsoever to hope for anything else just because the Packers former head coach is there.
Fuck the cowboys.

I forget, who was the 49ers head coach back in 2005 when MM was the Offensive Coordinator in SF?
I seem to remember that the 49ers coach failed so spectacularly that he got fired after 3 seasons, then went to Denver as DC for Josh McDaniels for 1 season, bounced around as the DC in Miami & Atlanta until 2015 before bottoming out as a LBs coach in San Diego and then New Orleans the past 5 seasons, but I just can't recall his name.
I know that MM is not reverting to form and just hiring his buddies from back in the day down in Dallas, right?
Mike Nolan, not Mora.
Guess they needed to take a deeper dive into 1265 -- Wanna know how many players were allowed to miss meetings, be late for meetings, etc. etc.???
I'll name one....Nick Perry -- there are many others.
Yes Mike Nolan was HC when MM was in SF. Another crony hire
