It's a legit question if Bojo was supposedly released because of his issues with holding.  I hadn't heard that before.  Not sure why the punter has to be the designated holder in this instances.

Make a running back the holder so if there is a mistake, he at least has a chance to run for a first down.

Edit:. But I guess the benefit of using the punter is that he's guaranteed to be active on game day and less likely to be injured, like the backup QB used to be.

This is from an article from last year when he was with the Bills.

And while he’s drawn criticism holding on field goals this season, having failed to spin the laces out on at least three attempts, he’s also impressed onlookers with the two longest punts in the NFL,

Comments about how he was a poor holder are also all over the Bills fan message boards.

The most glaring deficiency from last season was the number of touchbacks Bojoquez conceded when he had the opportunity to pin opponents deep in their own territory. Secondly, he also had some issues as the holder for field goals and extra points. Both are skills that new Buffalo Bills punter Matt Haack has been identified as being above average.

Bill Belichick gave a long explanation of this.

that evolved into the punters, for the most part, becoming holders because of the amount of time that they could spend with the kickers versus having a wide receiver or quarterback be the holder, which again, you don’t see very much of that anymore. Assuming a punter is, you know, capable and good enough and has good enough hands to be the holder, and so then that kind of whole unit has really evolved into, you know, specified snapper or a specified kicker, a specific punter, and generally the punter as the holder, so the three of those guys could work together all practice because they’re all available.

There is that and practice time.   These "football players" are over in a different part of the field when the other guys are practicing.

Biggest negative for me was having to leave the place. Epic weekend with the grandson. Probably my last trip there and it could not have been more perfect if I could have scripted it. Rodgers played his best game of the year. Cobby (my grandsons favorite player had a great game) the cold (not bone chilling but cold enough) was Frozen TundraIsh. We were the last ones out of our section and were just taking it all in. . The crowd was electric and loud. Pic Six, sacks, long passes, Dillon trucking a defensive player, and Rodgers being the last one off the field to MVP chants. My grandson got tears in his eyes when I told him in August we were going. I think I got tears in my eyes when we were leaving. And one last thing, LEaving the hotel around 3 on Monday and it started snowing buckets. First time for him to see snow and first time for me in over 40 years. Thank you Packers. You paid off my over 50 years of loyalty to you with an epic experience.

You just made me NOT being their feel as tho I was.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  For your  grandson, this adventure with you will be his most prized memory.  I AM SO JEALOUS, and thank you sooooooooooo much for sharing it.  ♥️ 💚 💛 🏈

Why not use Love as a holder? Doug Pederson held the ball during the Favre years.

Due to the recent CBAs and the less practice time, it makes sense that the punter is the holder with the specialists working as a group during the same time the other positional groups work together.

This is where Benkert (in 2022) will come in handy. Not only will he be QB2, but he will be the punter / holder with the threat for the fake.

Right in front of the referee with no penalty called.
