Not sure about that one, Brak. I was at the Falcon game in December. It was frickin' cold and Boykin had zero interest running routes. The Falcon defense was sooooo bad that game and virtually every pass play Flynn had open receivers all over the place - however, it was almost never Boykin. Myles White was virtually as important that game as Boykin.
and "never"
And "is".
Hey, Packers draft a college player I've actually seen play. Love it. Home state scrapper gets shot to be a Packer.
Have to admit, KK, don't watch as much off the ball stuff as I'd like. Here are the receiving stats from that game. Boykin looks...well, average in comparison. Nelson and Quarless had above average games.

Will Ted Go To Jared?
I keep reading that Jared Abbrederis will likely be a third or fourth round pick in next monthâs NFL Draft. And while that might be the right spot for him as far as most teams are concerned, I wouldnât have a problem with general manager Ted Thompson taking the talented wide receiver at 53.
goes to show you most "experts" know nothing
Do NFL rules allow teams to line up 2 or more white wide receivers on the same play?
And a TE with the same last name as the QB. The defenses will get confused.
Give Abbrederis # 4.
Love the pick! Can't even count how many Saturdays I watched Abby get beyond the safeties and actually have to wait for the deep ball to arrive. He should practice his Lambeau leaps because he'll see the end zone alot this year.
Scrappy, definitely a lunch pail warrior, has a blue-collar attitude, just a Regular Joe.
AKA.. WonderBread
He is going to have to be able to play on the coverage teams if he wants to be active game day,
He will be the punt returner
Is he eligible for the Lollipop Guild?
Yes, definitely...
Great Pick.
He can be the wizard.

It's hard to see the routes progress on tv. I get to a game every couple years and I use the live action to watch for this. I still remember how ssssllllloooowwww Flynn was to go through the progressions. It was absolutely insane how open the TEs and James Jones were most of the game. Nelson and Quarless seemed to be his #1 read on most plays (Quarless seemed to be a "hot" read that he went to often).

This.
Abbredaris's stats are very understated. The WI qb's his jr and sr year were only marginal as passers. Abby was continuously open but Phillips or Stave would underthrow him or miss his entirely. Watch his soph year games with Russell Wilson and you can see what this kid can do. Plus, he shows up big in the big games. Some of his best games were against NE, MSU, OSU, Rose Bowls.
I cannot wait to see what happens when he plays with a qb who can and will get him the ball.
Koopla, keep in mind the expected increases to the salary cap over the next couple or so years. It's likely the reason players have recently gotten huge extensions (Sherman). Without the increases, the Seahawks would be in a cap hell not yet seen before.
I think he's a slightly faster version of Bill Schroeder but I'm glad you guys are happy
Bill Schroeder never ran a route as well as Abbrederis has in his miserable life.
I think you must be thinking of Janis.
I liked Billy Schroeder. I think for a 6th Round pick, he had a pretty decent career. 1999-2001 were pretty solid years. Second most productive player for the Packers from that draft.
Ted's thoughts:
"His first couple of years especially, he did everything but sell hot dogs down there," Thompson said.
I think he's a slightly faster version of Bill Schroeder but I'm glad you guys are happy
Way off target. Bill Schroeder was a sprinter in pads. Abbrederis is a WR, with pretty much everything Schroeder wasn't. The only question is if he has the speed to compete, and I think the answer is yes.
Billy was a lot stronger than Jerod, but not nearly as skilled.
And from some anecdotal reports, Schroeder was also an a-hole.
No, Cobb and Jordy are not going anywhere. As we saw last year, GB tends to get into its depth at WR as the season progresses. This really only means that Myles White is toast and IMHO has nothing to do with the two best guys in the team.
I really don't get this 'Abby is a slot guy' meme that's developing. He's not a slot guy - he's a long strider who does his damage down the field. He's not quick enough to be a good slot guy and the lazy slobs who compare him to shrimps like Welker are only doing so because of skin tone.
Besides, I'm told GB already has a pretty good slot guy in Cobb.
UW Wide Receiver Coach Beatty disagrees:
Beatty believes Abbrederis projects best in the slot, where he wouldn't see as much press. "Does he need to get stronger? Sure he does," Beatty said. "And he knows that. I don't think there's any doubt he'll do what he needs to do to get stronger and be as physical as possible."
Love this quote from TT's post draft presser about Abberderis:

GB toyed with the double- slot using Jennings on one side and Cobb on the other
IF the Packers build plays around what Cobb can do, then its wise to have another slot guy available (so that part of the offense doesn't get tossed in case of injury.)
I also think MM was pretty happy with what Jordy did from the slot last year too. Interchangeable parts makes attacking a defense a little easier on the OC and I'm guessing Jared has to learn all 3 spots
I am also guessing the passing offense won't be built as much around Finley/TE; more leaning on the Cobb factor with the TE's focused toward the run game in 2014
IF they can get single-high safety looks via the run game, Rodgers will gladly attack the boundaries
Didn't Abracadabra have a couple of outstanding running plays on the Jet sweep this past season?
I think that's exactly how Seattle will play the Packers on opening day
And from some anecdotal reports, Schroeder was also an a-hole.
No one will describe Abby as that. Really nice guy. Really religious too(nobody is perfect, right?), and unlike too many christians he actually lives it in the way he treats others.

As usual, your observations are spot on. You know football like I pretend to.

This is why I did not see TE as such a need. I think Quarless provides adequate TE in that he can catch the ball and while lacking the downfield prowess of Finley, is much better a blocker.
Quarless fits with last year's scheme change of greater emphasis on the run game.
TE is a huge need. On probably every team without Jimmy Graham or Gronk.
Having a stud TE opens up so much space on the outside where Rodgers & his receivers can do damage. Scares the crap outta the DC's in the league
Bostick
I have hopes for Bostick and I feel Quarless is undervalued by fans.
A playmaking TE is always a need in todays NFL but I wouldn't say TE is a huge need in GB right now.

Thanks much, but I disagree. I don't know football, I just like to read a lot about it from people who do know football and then I share some of the good stuff here.
Go Packers
IMO both Bostick and Quarless have shown enough in the run game, blitz pick-up, and pass catching that they are every down TEs and that they certainly can beat man coverage. All GB needs is one more TE to step up their game this year beyond ST. My early guess is it will be Rodgers. That's actually a decent trio to choose from.

If you want to score 30 points a game it's a huge need
