Big week for Abbrederis.  He plays well and it'll shape what the WR corp looks like next year.  I still have hope that Adams issues were injury related (both physical and mental) and he'll bounce back in 2016.  In theory, a corp of Nelson, Cobb, Adams, Abbrederis, Montgomery and Janis should be solid.  I think TE is the real problem, with R Rodgers offering nothing in the passing game.  You could literally have a 300 lb DT cover him and shut him out.  Grab Hunter Henry in round 1 and see the offense flourish.

Abby and/or Janis are not with the Packers in 2016.

MARK IT DOWN!!!

With the WR struggles this season they have both had plenty of opportunities (mostly in practice) to step up and show TT and the coaches they deserve a spot.

TT loves to draft WRs and I think he'll look to churn the bottom of the WR depth chart like he always does.

Heck, at this point I'd feel better if you told me James Jones was going to be with the team next year.

Janis does some good things on ST every week.

Abby's production can be replaced by any average mid-round WR with probably a better injury history.

JMO IMO

Not sure about that. The move he put on the defender on that 2 point play may have been the best route I've seen this year by a Packer receiver. Lets see what he does Saturday and then we can decide .

JMO.

Poor sophomore Richard Rodgers...all he does is catch Touch down passes as a 3rd round and arguably some what desperate value pick.

Where on earth would we be "with out" him?

heck yeah, Love for the Pack to grab Henry or Howard in the first 2 rounds. that would be solid.

Excited to see Jared play this week. Id much rather seem him in there than Ol Stone Hands McGee

Wow, Rodgers' YPC is brutal in comparison. Take out the fluke Hail Mary and he drops to 7.87 YPC.

There is no real reason to take out the Hail Mary...he did it...he did catch it. ;-)

I suspect Janis! sticks around because of his special teams work.  I think Magic needs to make some plays or he is the first WR out the door next year replaced by a younger WR.  JJ won't be back next year.

True, but it is a total fluke, unlike a back grinding it out and breaking a long run multiple times/season or a receiver juking defenders out of their jock straps. Those are still regular plays from scrimmage.

This is probably accurate.  During Adams' period of suck (basically his first 4-5 games back), it was clear he should not be out there , for whatever reason, and the coaches just refused to put his backup (Janis) in.  Abbredaris, it turns out, is exclusively a slot receiver, again for whatever reason. He only backs up Cobb. Even when Adams went down against Washington, Abby played exclusively in the slot.

But when Adams looked so bad and his replacement couldn't see the field, it tells you more about his backup than it does about Adams.  It has to.  The only other possible conclusion was that the coaches just believed so strongly that Adams would return to his rookie form that they allowed his suck to continue as a form of preseason, thinking he would work through it (which he may have been when he got hurt).

But jeeze, if ever there was an opportunity for Janis to step up, that was it, and they basically didn't trust him enough to even try.  1 or 2 token offensive plays here and there, that was it. That's either on the coaches or on Janis.  I think we are about to find out which one if Adams can't play, and all signs are pointing to starting Abby in the slot and moving Cobb.  If that happens and Janis doesn't see the field again, there is your answer.

Stats can be misleading.........someone has to catch passes.  Just because Rodgers caught 58 passes doesn't mean he's any good.  And a great TE does more than just catch passes; he opens up the field for every other receiver by stretching the middle of the field.  Great TE's clear out zones and creates mismatches in the run game.  Rodgers does none of that with his 8.6 YPC (7.9 without the hail mary).

I used to think TE was a luxury position but looking around the league, great offenses have great TE play.  R Rodgers will be a fine #2 TE (as is Quarless) and I'd love to see what A Rodgers can do with an athletic TE who isn't a head case.

Read better. I'm not calling the coaches stupid.  Not even close. I'm saying if Janis can't take Adams' spot now, when he is needed most, he is probably not an NFL-caliber receiver and if he's on the team next year, it would be exclusively as a special teamer.

Janis excelling at special teams really helps his odds for next year.  Not only is he a decent kick returner but he's a damn good gunner.  Jarrett Bush stuck around showing a lot less as a DB but we'll see.

Were I to venture a guess, next year we'll see Nelson, Cobb, Adams, Montgomery, Abbrederis and a draft pick at WR with Janis one in name only.

Jones will be in the Rolodex in case of injury.

I'm not trying to say Rich Rod is "great" either.

But I think Packer fans have to take it all in context.

I suspect TT drafted Rich Rod as somewhat of a better than nothing stop gap who is smart enough and durable enough and coachable enough to execute his role.

With Jordy on the field and everything clicking on offense his role was to find the crease or the hole in coverage to keep defenses honest...catch the damn ball and not F**K -up.

He's all that...and more.

Is he a go -to offensive juggernaut? Hell no...although his red zone numbers are damn impressive.

He is a nice target in the end zone. And God knows we have enough trouble with that.

If we have the offense of old with Jordy and crew...no need to panic.

It would be nice...but not a priority in my opinion.

Too much handwringing and throwing out the baby with bath water around here lately.

Janis is the new Travis Jervey.  His ST play is outstanding.  Without him, no way Masthay would have made a new Net Punt record for the Packers!

Yes, it's disappointing he has done nothing at WR.   I would like to see him continue to get some reps at KR.  Maybe even PR.   Micah Hyde was great last year, but pretty lousy this year.

Cripes, if Janis can't run a long route, why don't they at least let him try some slants and screens.  The guys is the fastest player we have on the field!  I'd be shocked if he's not on the roster next year.

As far as Abby goes, I'm a Homer too, and am disappointed so far by him.   But it does make you question if his body can take the pounding.   Since it looks like Adams will be out Saturday, I am hoping he'll get a fair shot in the game.  But I tend to agree that there will probably only be room for 1 of th e2.

Not knowing the instide scoop on Adams, I even wonder if we want him back next year.  If he had legitimate injuries, so be it.   But his poor hands really give me pause.   Maybe they jettison Adams and keep Abby?   But he's got to get a chance to show us something.   The fact that A-Rod has shown confidence in him and said he needs more playing time gives me hope!

Disclaimer--I am not a pro football expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Agree.  After Tackle and Middle Linebacker.

I'll give you Tackle, but not having a reliable TE hurt this offense as much as Jordy being out, IMO.  AR has had zero security blanket this year, and it has badly hurt the whole offense.

Right, the offense simply kicked ass this year.  Let's just hope for the same for next year and be rest assured there is no way Jordy is going to get injured again.

It's not hand-wringing when your offense rounds out the bottom of the league.

People still think there is greater than zero chance of Adams being released.  Just befuddles me.  Yes I said befuddles.

Janis is not done developing.  If he is going to show anything, it will be next year, which is pretty common for a WR in our O.  If he doesn't, he is a RD7.
