Each week is different. Wilson/Graham/Lynch present a different set of problems than Cutler/Forte/Jeffery/Bennett. Week to week it's about a game plan, execution, and adjustments. The Packers don't have a speedster to surprise them with, unless you think McCarthy is going to "unleash" Janis on them. Hey, maybe that is something to watch for, but I have my doubts.

The D gets a starter back, so this should be a positive. Palmer will get more reps in practice this week, so he'll be better prepared. The Rams front 4 is a LOT better than the Paclers'.

I want them to win like any other week. But if they don't it's not anything more than a loss in September.

He really was missed. I think Ha Ha felt the pressure of his absence early. Burnett improved greatly last year playing with Clinton-Dix. Hopefully he can play Sunday night.

Thinking Banjo, Goodson or Boyd are bottom of this roster for Datone coming back. Probably Goodson.

Palmer did play well for coming in cold. Got caught up in some blocks that seemed like picks, but kept working it. Was in position enough to lead our team in tackles. One big gain by Forte was the result of a huge hold that wasn't called on CHI's LT. Would be good for him to get starters reps going into SEA game.

This staff has to figure out what Nick Perry is giving them. Nothing on Sunday. Sadly.

Really hope Burnett can go this week but MJS story didn't really inspire too much hope. He didn't test the calf out at all this past week.

Another nugget - Barrington was on crutches and in a walking boot post game. I'd imagine he'll be sitting out this week and perhaps a few more games to let his ankle completely heal. Dude lasted all of what? 1 quarter before re-aggravating it

Barrington played in 2 series, contrary to the one series McGinn reported. He missed a TON in the running game. Often choosing the wrong side or swallowed up in blocks. To his credit, he made a few plays on his man in coverage. Gave up a big gainer to Jeffery running free over the middle. Hate that he is injured, but glad someone else gets a shot at Marshawn Lynch.

Too bad about Burnett. I'm hoping he can make it back. Noticed Gaston in last series 1st half. Got pushed around.

Forte had 140 yesterday and I expect Lynch break 100 too.   Hopefully not by that much though.  Wilson is not Cutler though so it will be a tougher game from that angle.  But we are at home for a change.

As solid as Lacy is, I'd like to see more of Starks next week for a change of pace, plus to keep Eddie fresh the entire season.

JJ will be watched closely, so it's Cobb's or Adam's turn this week.

I missed the first few minutes of the game yesterday, but as soon as I was home and had the game on, the first play I see was Barrington chasing a TE(?) across the field, woefully behind, with no hope of making any play.

I didn't/don't see much difference between Barrington and Palmer. During the game yesterday, I could hear (presumably) a Seattle OL confirming and identifying "51" was on the field, and called a signal. Boom, a running play right at him, and a typical 5-6 yard gain for the rusher. That happened at least twice.

Incidentally, late in the game, I also heard them identify "28" was on the field, and same thing. A pass play and fairly long completion against Richardson.

In any case, I think it's easy to see that opposing OCs are targeting our weakest players or positions, and have specific plays to run against them.

The key to the Seattle game may be how well they handle Jimmy Graham. They handled Gronk well at Lambeau last year, so maybe that's the blueprint. Graham isn't as good as Gronk (who's an impossible matchup for an All-Pro level safety), but he's definitely capable of going off for a huge game if our ILBs and Safeties play like they did against Chicago.

Kind of good Forte had his way with the GB D early. Now we have something to really work on there. Also Cutler running around making gains on busted plays. Good prep at least for Wilson, even though Jay is a far lesser threat... We were exposed for a while. Made some adjustments, and fared better afterwards.

NFL defenses just are not crisp to start a season. Always a work in progress, because they are reacting.

Hopefully, they can game plan this one better. At least they have some film this time. Get the right people in there and force Wilson into some mistakes. Our DL should be motivated after yesterday, and getting Datone Jones back might help. I'd play both Randall and Rollins. Neither one is afraid to tackle in the run game. I could see us in 6-7 DB sets, with Matthews/Peppers, Raji/Daniels and/or Datone. Maybe make Gunter active, but Goodson is so much better on STs. We gotta stop Tyler Lockett there, Lynch & Graham. This will be a good test of our D.

Thats them identifying the MLB for blocking assignments.  The OL will know who they are responsible for if they all agree who the MLB is on any given alignment

Pick your poison. Graham is a mismatch on LBs. I know what you mean, but these kids do know how to tackle, plus they have a better chance of stopping Russell Wilson when he takes off.

Think of Randall, Rollins and Gunter as our version of the Hanson Bros.

Chancellor will be 30 when his contract is done. He's slow footed to begin with (4.69 at the combine), so it's likely he's looking at a minimum salary type deal when he gets to his early 30s and loses a step or two. He has no leverage, but if he doesn't get more money now, he probably won't see the big bucks again. He's getting 28 million for 4 years which isn't chump change. He's just upset that Sherman (4/56), Wagner (4/43), Thomas (4/40) are all getting significantly more on that defense. That doesn't even begin to get into what he may think about Wilson (4/87) and Jimmy Graham (4/40) are getting. He thinks he took a lower salary for the team and that he got played because everyone else ended up getting a lot more.

He'll eventually come back because what else is he going to do? This is his last year with leverage, because in 2016 he's cheaper to cut (2 million cap hit) than he is to keep (6 million) and that ratio gets worse in 2017. If he gets hurt playing this year, he doesn't get a penny more, and his guaranteed money was nothing (5 million) relative to those other guys (Sherman - 40 million; Thomas - 26 million; Wagner - 22 million; Wilson - 61 million; Graham - 21 million). Even Lynch (who didn't have any leverage either) got 12 million guaranteed when he threatened to retire.

In the end it's always about the money and given the risks NFL players take - especially a safety who's constantly in run support - I don't blame them. You have to figure there's some conflict simmering between Chancellor and Thomas/Sherman just due to the jealousy factor.

Hopefully the media keeps stirring this pot to distract Seattle as much as possible.

Can't look at this like the traditional GM / player negotiation.

Never forget Pete Carroll hired Schneider. Schneider is essentially serving in an advisory role to Pete even though Schneider is the GM.

Pete doesn't have the time nor the patience to watch his defense go to **** while Kam sits at home. I think Kam knows this.

I fully expect Pete will be the first one to blink.

GBPG summary of MM press conference, just concluded:

Packers coach Mike McCarthy spoke to the media on Monday. Here are some highlights of his news conference:

On message for this week:

Today we were in corrections. That was our message today. We had a chance to evaluate video with staff and shared with team. Today’s message was with self improvement.

On Seattle:

We start the game-planning process tonight and start to lay out the plan. We have a game plan in meetings.

On Sam Barrington:

We’re waiting back for some test results on Sam. I think he’ll be hard-pressed to practice Wednesday.

On Randall Cobb:

I thought Randall played well. The extra treatment I think it says a lot about him as an individual. It looked like he came out of the game pretty good.

On Aaron Rodgers’ passer rating in fourth quarter:

It’s absolutely important for him to play at the level he played yesterday. His decision making and ability to make plays with his feet. You look at the play he made to his left on the pass to James Jones that was called back because of the hold. There’s things he does that impress me as a quarterback.

On Seattle fallout:

Too much of anything isn't good for you. I’ve coached teams too much during the week, raised emotions too much. I guarantee that's not going to happen this week. Those are lessons I’ve learned during my time here. I know who we’re playing. They’re coming off a tough loss in St. Louis. That’s as far as it goes with us.

On Nate Palmer:

I think Nate did some really good things. He made some mistakes but still had productivity. That’s something they can definitely build off of. We didn’t handle the outside zone with the flat footwork. It was an issue against Philadelphia and an issue before.

On missed tackles:

We did not tackle very well. We had double-digit missed tackles. It’s something we talked today emphasizing. Playing run defense gap integrity is very important.

On Morgan Burnett’s absence:

He’s definitely in command back there. Everybody who played in game was prepared to play in the game.

Adam Schefter@adamschefter

Green Bay hosts Seahawks, championship rematch: Last INT thrown by Aaron Rodgers at Lambeau Field was vs. Vikings in Week 13 of 2012 season.

Adam Schefter is really just another smarmy ESPN click weasel.

AR is going to see this. Whatever. I fully expect MM is going to instruct the coaches to take the restrictor plate off Aaron's intake and let him go full throttle on Seattles ass for 60 minutes.

Some things we have going for us heading into this game v. SEA:

1. STL gave us great tape on how to attack their O, especially up front. SEA's OL was a sieve against STL.

2. We get Datone Jones back. This is a young player who has not lived up to his potential to date, but DL usually take a little time to develop. Hopefully, we get a big game out of Datone Jones on Sunday night, and he makes a statement moving forward with his career here in GB.

3. BJ Raji is looking like he is playing his best football since 2012. It would be great to see him have a huge game getting after Wilson, and hopefully, stopping Lynch.

4.  Mike Daniels should have marked this game on his calendar after the NFCC game. I expect he will be a force.

5. With our tackling looking horrible v. CHI in last Sunday's game, a heightened emphasis will be placed on it in facing Lynch, Wilson and Graham. I'm kind of glad the CHI game wasn't a cake walk.

6. Morgan Burnett may return. That would be huge for our D.

7. Nate Palmer should have a more confident/improved game having a full week to prepare as the starter next to Clay. No surprises, and he knows what he will be facing. Glad he got that first game under his belt.

8. STs look improved. This should be a statement game for this unit.

9. SEA lost their top flight DC, Dan Quinn to ATL. That is not easy to recover from.

10. Our offense returns healthy. OL health is huge especially with Bakhtiari going against Avril/Clark and Bulaga going against Bennett. We will need big games out of both Bakhtiari and Bulaga.

11. Mismatches in SEA's secondary. Take away Sherman and Thomas, the mismatches look to be SS Dion Bailey, RCB Cary Williams and slot DB Deshawn Shead. Aaron will exploit those. Look for JJ, Cobb, Montgomery, Rodgers and maybe Janis to have some key contributions. Also, Bobby Wagner had a god awful game in coverage v. STL. Look for the middle to be open for Aaron.

12. Mismatches in SEA's interior DL. Sitton, Linsley and Lang should have a field day run blocking against Brandon Membrane and Ahtyba Rubin. I bet we see gigantic doses of Lacy and Starks up the middle. We will also see both of them chipping off the edge to help protect Aaron and release as receivers.

13. GB didn't show a lot of scheme twists in CHI. I believe Dom and Mike will have a good game plan prepared for this moment on D.

14. They will not have Kam Chancellor.

15. We are at home. We went 8-0 at home during the regular season last year. I look for that to continue with a full on ass pounding of the Seachickens. I want to see Richard Sherman cry.

What he said.  It happened and it was awful but all you can do is move on.  The only thing that will erase last years debacle for me, is a Super Bowl win this year.

They need to tackle better.  Lynch and Wilson are both much harder to tackle than Forte and Cutler.  The Seattle o-line is bad enough that the front 7 will have chances to take them down behind the LOS, they just need to finish plays.
