They need a Myles Jack type player at LB.  Someone that can run and tackle and occasionally cover a TE.

Martinez can certainly tackle but heโ€™s an average athlete and really gets exposed in the passing game.

"He was ranked the top linebacker prospect in the draft by Sports Illustrated, ESPN, and NFL analysts Charles DavisMike MayockLance Zierlein, and Daniel Jeremiah.   Jack was also ranked the top overall player in the draft by ESPN, the second best overall player by NFL analysts Daniel Jeremiah and Lance Zierlein, and the third best overall player by NFL analyst Charles Davis."

Yeah.  What team doesn't need that type of player?

Kiel slipping again. No Monday Night thread. What the hell????

Time zone and retirement! Back in the day, on the road for work had nothing better to do at dinner than figure out a pithy game thread title and sit in my ass at a Holiday Inn Express watching football...now these 6:20 Mountain starts donโ€™t even let me finish dinner....first world problem.

Now that you're retired you don't eat at Old People Timeยฎ like 4:00 PM?

Three diners within minutes of my house. Senior citizen discount begins at 4 pm and thereโ€™s not an empty seat to be had. ๐Ÿค—

Also, it could have been my Green N' Gold glasses or the Brandy Sours I was consuming yesterday, but it sure as hell looked like the Packers were tackling extremely well yesterday.

Guys like Clark, Martinez, Lowry, and the DB's were really wrapping up the Bores. I saw very little yards after contact. It sure would be nice to see that continue to trend in the right direction.

Unpossible.

Good call.  Hadn't even realized it but now that I think about it you may be right.  Minus that horrible last lateral play.  It wasn't just Preston that thought the last play of any game was two hand touch.

Not to rag on Martinez more, but the Bears didn't really challenge him over the middle as often as better passing teams did. They also didn't try and hit him with speed east/west, which is when he tends to take bad angles. They tried to power run north/south, which is actually catering to his strength.

Man, this guy just can't win.  Even when it's pointed out that Martinez had a strong game we just can't accept it.

Not that anybody should care, but Martinez leads the league in tackles again with 140.  He's on pace for 160 tackles on the season.  160 of the shittiest, worthless and meaningless tackles in the history of football.

He had 144 tackles in each of his previous two seasons

Here's the thing with the Martinez debate.  Bitch about Martinez all you want when the Packers actually have TWO ILBs.  It isn't about overvaluing Martinez it's about wondering WTF happened to all the other ILBs.
