I agree. The stale, non-motion was allowing the defense to set and know exactly what was going to happen. When it was Cobb, Jordy, et al., they were good enough to beat guys themselves. Once they were gone and the talant level dropped and AR didn't want to switch to using checkdowns or get rid of the ball faster, everything started to fall apart and he tried to play Superman.

Perhaps the biggest difference between the last four years and this year is that AR is smiling again. It's been a very, very long time since we have seen that huge smile on the field and seen him joking around with his teammates and laughing with coaches, etc. AR mugging for the TV screen last night has not happened in years. When he's having fun is when the team is rolling. It doesn't hurt that Jones, JWilliams, Z, etc., all seem to be characters and help keep things loose!

I pulled this one from Cliff Christl's History piece at packers.com

Here's something else Bob Harlan told me recently that I think fits into this storyline.

During his nearly two decades as president, the two moves that drew the most criticism from fans was Wolf's trade for Favre and Ted Thompson's decision to draft Aaron Rodgers. Harlan said he was flooded with critical calls and letters after both announcements.

Every person that sent a letter to Harlan for those 2 moves, should be forced to wear Bear & Viking jerseys & never be allowed to root for the Packers ever.

What a bunch of tools

The best part is that if the Oline and RBs keep the running game going and MLF schemes guys open, he doesn't HAVE to be elite all the time to be deadly.

This is what I ad always wanted to see.  We knew Rodgers could sling the ball around and put up numbers, but now with a real running game combined with his skills, it is crazy good.

No matter what, Aaron Rodgers is OUR "Leader of the Pack".  Most other teams can try again in the draft next year to get their own.

You mean like use their first-round pick to try to find a QB because of concerns about the one they have now?

Yes.  Or because of any number of other reasons they can't find a solution.  I go back to the 24 (or so) QBs starting for the Bears had during Favre's time in GB.  That is more than 1 per season.  GB is blessed.

Rex Grossman did lead them to a Super Bowl.

I think it's trust that MLF will get guys open that's the difference. Even last year Rodgers would bail on a play. This year he takes what's given and if the first option isn't there, he waits that extra beat to see who gets open -- and darned if someone isn't open almost every single time, even if it's a checkdown. And Rodgers takes it. He's not running around trying to play sandlot. He believes in the scheme and what MLF has drawn up. Yes, the line makes sure he stays clean, but for the most part they did last year as well. The difference with the line this year is that they don't have to wonder where or when Rodgers is going to bail and where he's going. They know where he'll be and that gives the line a little security in knowing where to maintain their blocks.

I haven't the will to watch that one again, but my initial reaction was that the blitz wasn't getting picked up well enough to give him a chance to beat it.

This wasn't bad Rodgers of old holding the ball too long.   It appeared to me that he was just smothered before anything could develop.

The Bucs didn't "shut them down" They made mistakes & shut themselves down.

The Packers owned the first quarter & were running roughshod over that defense. Other teams will take that tape & attack the Bucs the same way. I guarantee it.
