Oh man you got that right we are beyond lucky to have #12. I honestly believe he should be in the discussion of the greatest of all time to ever play the position. Just the great things he does. Calls the play, lines everyone up, reads the defense, and watches the play clock. And in the middle of all that he can count the number of defensive players on the field and will catch them if there are 12 men on the field. Its mind blowing.
I for one will never take for granted how crazy good the Packers QBs have been for almost 30 years. Some of us can remember the dregs they trotted out prior to 1992 (shudder).

So was listening to Tyler Dunne being interviewed yesterday about his latest expose -- this one about dysfunction involving our favorite football team that wears purple and, more specifically, about the discord between GM Spielman and Coach Zim ("Zim does not treat Spielman the best.") Less fun, and relevant to this thread, Dunne also noted that no one in GB stepped in when "Ted Thompson's health is deteriorating ... and he is falling asleep ... in meetings with scouts." At 18:30-19:15.
Had not heard that detail.
ARod had to carry Ted, Mike, and Dom a long time in GB.
Gutey & MLF are certainly better than what went on between 2015-2018 and hope it will be enough to get Arod (and Packer fans) another ring before he moves on.

Which is why I have no qualms about drafting Jordan Love. The prospect that he will infuriate NFC Norris teams for another 15 years is savory.
I have Bear's fan friends who are already entertaining that possibility. They are growing sanguine over the Packers ascendency, figuring that once every 5 years or so, one of the other North teams will steal a division title before it reverts to the rightful champion.

I was playing softball that night, missing the game, hoped to see the end, but as I pulled into my garage on Yahoo sports it said 23-21 Lions with :00 left in the game. Discouraged, I just went inside, didn't turn the TV and went to bed figuring they lost.
Of course that was after the defensive penalty which gave them one more play. Didn't see anything about the miracle till I woke up the next morning, which is probably just as well. Who could sleep after a win like that?
kind of similar for me....had the game DVR'd and was about 10 minutes behind real time. When the Hail Mary happened, my phone blew up with messages and kind of spoiled the surprise ending....that was a crazy game.
I rarely turn games off but I shut that one down at halftime. Had an early Tuesday and didn't want to watch that crap and then go to work on 5 hours of sleep.

I'm no Jethro Bodine, but I think that's a #12. 
Went to bed at halftime. Got up the next morning and, figuring they lost, decided the first thing I'd do on the way to work is read the game thread for some gallows humor. Thats how I experienced the fourth quarter and hail mary. It was actually really cool to do it that way.
Watched the whole game from beginning to end.

The Hail Mary game? I was in Africa trying to watch the game with a terrible stream. Kept cutting out on me and eventually died just before the defensive penalty. Figured they’d lost and went to sleep, but I couldn’t sleep right away. Eventually took a peak at X4 to see everyone going nuts. I couldn’t believe it.
Once the Chinese take over Africa the infrastructure should improve.
My wife came running from the bedroom having been woken up - I was cheering so loudly! What a huge rush!

And of course as stated earlier fastest to 400 -- only needed 193 games to get there.

If the Packers were to trade Love this offseason, do they get a top 15 pick for him?
Two things that cannot be underestimated here.
1. Obviously, having an offensive coach that lives in the moment, evolves, and updates regularly in order to create as many mismatches and scheming advantages as possible.
2. Most importantly, the willingness of an all world QB at the age of 36 year old recognizing that he needs to reflect on and critique his own performance, take that and make changes to his game, and do that while fully accepting and embracing new concepts, thoughts, and ideas from a head coach barely older than him.
Think about what Favre did here at this age. He did whatever the hell he wanted, I'm the gunslinging kid having fun MFer! Think about last year where AR still didn't make mistakes but he did not look completely comfortable in the system or aligned with MLF. AR did what prideful huge ego guys that have proven themselves over and over find hard to do - he changed. He reviewed film and made changes. He listened and embraced new ideas
Now add that learning with his talent level and... Damn.
If Gute doesn't let AR complete his contract out playing at this level, he should be drawn and quartered.
I doubt it. If there would have been exhibition games this year and Love played well you might get some sucker to pony up a fairly high draft pick for him. I think he’s just too much of an unknown commodity right now for teams to take that chance. Plenty of O’Briens have come and gone in the league so I guess you never know.
I'm looking at the schedule, the Pack should be favored strongly in the Lions, Bears and Panthers games. Should Love be put on the the roster and maybe play if the game circumstances warrant it? Of course that depends on what the coaches see in practice, meetings etc.
Boyle should not be in their long term plans, at least as a starter. Love is.
I dare say the Eagles learned a lot about Hurts yesterday....good or bad. Same with Tua.

Agree with that line of thinking, would be great to see what Love has if circumstances allow it.
Of course with our defense and Special Teams(FU Mark Murphy) at what point is it safe to bring in the back-up QB ?
Exactly. If we get a big lead, give Love some snaps this year. If he impresses, trade him.
That makes a lot of sense. If a guy shows promise trade him.

That may not be the most important pass in Packers history but to throw that ball 67 yards AND have some incredible high arc on it made it something incredibly rare.
You can probably count the number of guys who could get out of trouble and make a throw like that on one hand. Maybe Elway, Favre, Cunningham? And there’s no guarantee anyone puts it in just the right part of the end zone like Rodgers did. Incredible play.
Let’s not forget that this is a cutthroat business and guys are cut, traded, replaced all the time. Not to mention there’s always the threat of injury that can end your season or career.
Rodgers has always played his best when he’s had a chip on his shoulder. Don’t think for a second it didn’t piss him off royally when GB drafted Love. Sometimes a little anger and frustration stokes the competitive flames even more than normal.
More importantly, it looks like he’s having fun again. MLF is the right guy making the right calls and Rodgers is once again thriving in this offense. Of course, it doesn’t hurt when you uncover and unleash weapons like Aaron Jones and Bob Tonyan.

Yep.
And to add, there was something undeniable about Brent at that age. He wanted NO PART of playing football once late November/December hit. That Bears game playing in Chicago where Brent looked like he was just dropped off at a penitentiary in Siberia was as embarrassing a performance of his as any late in Favre's career.
And his QB rating showed the same thing for years. IIRC, McCarthy and Ted took notice that his rating sunk to the 70's once the snow and cold started to fly. It was that way since Favre turned about 33 and it never got better.
Rodgers looks as freakin' good as he has 10 years ago. And unlike Brent, he's fully willing to learn whatever is necessary and take care of his body to play at a high level for years.
