So in basically the last 7 years they’ve spent two top 5 picks, a 2nd rounder, and two 4th round picks on QBs and none of them were worth a shit.

You think they care about giving up the 13th overall pick and a 2nd or 3rd for Rodgers?   Hell no.

The Jets will make the best offer and they will overpay. I can't see Rodgers playing in NY but the Jets tried to align the stars by adding Hackett. I agree, their #1 plus another high pick and maybe even more.

The main problem with Aaron Rodgers is his cap hit. Sure, his antics have irked many, but the team has been willing to put up with them for quite some time. It seems to me that the majority of fans are having second thoughts about his future in GB. ANY solution that benefits the team is ok by me. Right now the cap is the problem and if the team can fix that then I support it. Right now I think that we are stuck.

That’s my point on the draft pick compensation.   The Jets have two horrific misses with Darnold and Wilson and spent tremendous capital in the process.

To get into position (this year) to draft one of the top QBs they’d likely have to trade their 13th overall pick, next years 1, and likely a 2 or 3.

Why not do the same to get Rodgers for 2 years?   Their odds are better of winning now because they have a good core group around the QB.   The reason you draft a QB early is because 1) your team sucks anyway, or 2) you want to save money on a rookie QB deal because you have cap issues.

The Jets have no choice but to overpay because as quirky or old as he is Rodgers is still much better than the alternatives.

Not to mention they really haven't given up on Wilson. A side benefit is having him sit behind Rodgers might actually help his development so the Jets probably feel they already have the QB of the future on the roster. No doubt, Rodgers is a perfect fit and would net the Packers the most in return. Not to be overlooked is that the Packers play the Raiders next season.

With Rodgers comes a slew of national games, the Jets in prime time and a media circus that would follow. Hackett being there also means Rodgers will be able to run the offense he wants under the guise of a Kyle Shanahan scheme.

And for AR, it also means press coverage fawning all over him and his ego getting all the attention he wants.

For those also thinking Rodgers will play maybe one more year, I don't see that either. As long as he's relatively healthy, there is no reason he won't keep playing. There is no spouse/partner in his ear to quit and be with her. There are no kids pulling on him to attend their games and be a Dad. None of it.

AR loves attention, especially the controversial kind.  He gets that in NY and in Vegas.

As far as I'm concerned AR12 is under contract to be a Packer in 2023. Everything else said is purely conjecture and speculation. While that may make for mildly entertaining reading, the fact remains he's a Packer for 23. So, until I hear directly from the horses mouth, AR12 or Gutey, that he's gone nothing else really matters.

Then you're probably in the wrong thread...

This isn't nearly as bad/weird as I thought it would be..
