WIth the NFL trade deadline coming up, what is one (reasonable) trade you'd make?

I'm going with Chase Claypool from Pittsburgh.  He's a former 2nd round pick that had a solid rookie year.  He has since tailed off in production but that may be due to the QB situation in Pittsburgh.

I'm thinking Amari Rodgers and a mid to late round pick.

I'm sure we can find Robert Ferguson or Mark Roman somewhere to make this a no brainer.

It would be the least Packer-like thing to do to trade for a player at the trade deadline. Not saying I don't want it to happen, I just don't see anything happening.

With the Jags sub .500 I'd like to see a move for Marvin Jones. He's realistic and likely cheap enough. DJ Moore might be available, but also more expensive

I'd love another pass rusher. Brian Burns or Montez Sweat would be a pipe dream, but as a replacement for Preston after this year and rotation with him it would be great. I wonder if K'Lavon Chaisson is available. It's a gamble, but he should be back by week 10 and he's young. Price would still probably be pretty high, though, even though he's behind Walker and Allen.

If Burns or Sweat were available for trade (I don’t think either are), what do you think the Packers would realistically offer? Both are 1st Rounders, both have produced as 1st Rounders, and both are young. Certainly it would take a future 1st Round pick and something else.

Chances are better at landing Blood, Sweat and Tears. Probably could get for a 6th and Amari.

Probably a one. Both have their fifth-year option next years, Burns at $16 million and change, Sweat at a little under $11 million. Sweat also came in at 23, two-ish years older than Burns, so he'll be 28 in the first year of his next contract and might hit 30 before the Commanders are competitive again.  Either way, they'll both need new contracts for rebuilding teams if they stay.

The only way a trade happens is if both teams want ammunition to make sure they can get a top QB rather than being another stop on the flameout tour, but again. it's tough to give up good pass rushers. Of course it's also probably contingent from the Packers' viewpoint of if they're sold on Love or would move him. If only Washington would take Love and a 3, since they've pretty much been junk under Fredokunst anyway, but that means the Packers aren't sold on him or they think Rodgers plays three more years.

And here we go...

The Green Bay Packers are reportedly believed to be heavily in the market for wide receiver help as the Nov. 1 NFL trade deadline approaches.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, multiple general managers are "certain" the Packers want a wideout amid a disappointing 3-3 start to the season that has featured back-to-back losses to the New York Giants and New York Jets.

Fowler noted that Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool would make sense as a potential target for the Packers since he was believed to be available during the preseason, although the asking price was high.

Entering the season, there were huge question marks surrounding Green Bay's wide receiver situation, as the Packers traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders and didn't bring in anyone close to his level.

snip--

At 6'4" and 238 pounds, Claypool is precisely the type of receiver Rodgers could benefit from because he would allow him to throw the ball up in sticky situations and trust that Claypool can win on 50-50 balls.

The 2020 second-round pick out of Notre Dame topped 800 receiving yards and averaged better than 14 yards per catch in each of his first two seasons, but he has largely struggled in 2022.

In six games, Claypool has 23 receptions for 225 yards and one touchdown, and most of that production came this past week when he had seven grabs for 96 yards and a score.

With Diontae Johnson and rookie second-round pick George Pickens getting the bulk of the work outside, Claypool has often been relegated to the slot, which isn't necessarily his greatest strength.

Packers Rumors: GB 'Certain' to Eye WR Trade; Steelers' Chase Claypool 'Makes Sense' (bleacherreport.com)

Would it really be that high?  If I were a Steelers fan, I would want that, but I feel like WR get traded for less

Claypool isn’t having a great ‘22. Stats are down. But yes, he’s also playing out of position according to some. The rumor is they’d ask for a 3rd. A few think even that is too high, but teams know GB is looking to upgrade. Of course, OBJ could throw a wrench into this trade if 1.) he’s ready to play in a few weeks. 2.) He actually wants to play in GB.

Still , I’d rather take Chase

OBJ scares the hell out of me...much like Watkins...what do you do if you sign him and he ends up back on IR? CC is young, and as best I can tell pretty healthy.

If they would take a 3rd rounder for him, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

But I just don't think it's in Gutey's DNA to pull such a deal...

That's what everyone is saying.  Gute's RD3 picks are all throwaways anyway so you might as well get a real player for one.  Knowing PIT they'd get more than that though.  CC was a RD2 pick and PIT may want an equal exchange if there is enough competition.  CHI is probably looking for help too.

Chase Claypool? Never heard of the guy…

If the price tag is really a 3rd pick, you gotta jump on that.

A lot of mocks had him as a late RD1/RD2 pick a couple years ago.  Several slotted him to GB, who was apparently interested in him.  He's a Mike Evans type who hasn't had the consistency yet but he did have a rambling old wreck of a QB and then a Bears castoff throwing him the ball.  How fast could he work into the offense and would his addition throw a bit of a wrench in Doubs and Watson's development?  Guess they could just pick up the remainder of his contract which would allow them time to decide on the 5th yr option.  At that point Claypool could the test the FA waters if he improves and allows GB to shed him if Watson/Doubs develop.

If MLF/AR/BG all think it would work, seems like a no-brainer if PIT/CC are interested.  If they agreed on a pick, both GB and PIT are going to have a hard time predicting where in the round that pick will fall considering the current state of the team.
