I hope not only is his NFL career done, I hope to hell college teams stay away from him as well. But I know those programs are all about the  so no, I am not holding my breath.

Nonetheless, his reputation is going right into the shitter, right where it belongs.

Bobby Petrino, Mike Leach, Mike Price, etc.

If you can win games (even by cheating), you'll always find a job somewhere in college football.

And they almost always get to keep the money (in the form of a buyout) when the schools can't coverup their BS anymore.

Oh, and also, the Jags continue to be a train wreck. You kind of have to stand back in awe of teams like this, the Lions, Jets, etc that have just rode the suck train for so many years. Especially when you consider the NFL by design is not supposed to allow teams to wallow in awful for literally a decade +

They have top draft picks year in and out, there is a salary cap, there is free agency, and yet here the Jags are.

I have little doubt Kahn will fuck up the next hire cause, well, that's what he do.

It’s not just the Jags that are a trainwreck.  So are the Jets, Loins, Giants, and more recently the Texans.

Those teams have zero chance of improving with or without a decent head coach.

The simple fact is there are a lot of bad teams and a lot of bad games being played week after week.

As for Urb, as big of a scumbag as he is he there will be a number of teams lined up for his services.   He would have been the perfect guy for U of Miami to resurrect that program.  A return to UF would have made perfect sense or maybe Oregon or Washington but those jobs have all been filled.

I was listening to sports radio this AM and the belief is the days of bullying college players who were previously stuck in their division 1 programs is likely done. Now, essentially with FA allowed in college and kids able to bolt, these kids can tell coaches like Urb to fuck off and not worry they can bury their careers.

I don't know if this instantly changes the culture but it probably gives at least some of these programs to pause who they hire if the talent on the team can go wherever they want if coaches are assholes.

I would believe that is exactly what has been happening and will only pick up steam if coaches like Meyer are allowed to do what they do.  They can hit the transfer portal.

It will be interesting going forward if we start seeing colleges go the players type of coach of if they say screw it we will go with d'bags who just win no matter what.   Ultimately, it will be all about the money.

Can they fire him more than once?

Pretty sure that's going to happen in the court room.  Looks like the Jags are going after his contract money saying he was definitely fired for cause.

I hope they publicly air everything about that fucking POS to the point he's not even coaching in the NCAA, which would be an incredible feat considering the general character of the NCAA.

Absolutely love how this will fuck with recruiting for the scumbag schools, mostly SEC.  I'm sure kids will absolutely buy in with programs that'll give them a higher profile and chance at winning a championship but it'll also make these programs think twice about this kind of shit.

And this is largely why I don't follow college football.  The ethics, the same teams winning year after year - it's not even fair.  I catch a Badgers game here and there, but it's pretty much the same old story every year.  A good defense, a good/great offensive line, a good RB, but a limited to awful QB (Wilson being the lone exception), and average to awful WR's/TE's.  Year after year, we can't seem to get that turned around, and so we always have an average to below average offense.  It's predictable and boring.  Other than that, the only college football I watch is the national championship occasionally, but it's like a rotation of about 6 teams every year.  *yawn*  That's where the NFL was headed.  Thankfully they got that fixed with FA.

I am right there with you and that is why I am much more of an NFL fan first and foremost.  I think a lot of it of course being born and raised a few minutes from Lambeau makes someone a Packers fan above all. But, the system is designed to be more balanced to even things out and to me its just better to watch because of that.

I honestly really like the college game atmosphere quite a bit more but I also tire of the same teams winning all the time.  Nothing will bore me more than if Bama and Georgia meet in the title game.  I honestly would rather watch terrible Christmas shows on lifetime with my wife than watch that crap.

As for the Badgers I couldn't have said it any better.  I know this is blasphemy as a UW fan but I would love it if someone came in there and modernized the offense.  That would definitely get me excited again but as it stands now its the same old same old.

Ugh, what is it that attracts women to those kinds of shows?  My wife loves the Hallmark channel and especially the Christmas shows.  They have more cheese in them than all of Wisconsin.  Thankfully, she watches those shows when I'm not around.  She knows better.

Deion Sanders stealing that top 3 recruit from Floriduh State to play for him at Jackson State was pretty awesome.

When it comes to football, if there’s a lot of money involved, then ethics and integrity tend to get pushed aside pretty quickly in the pursuit of success.

Big time college football programs generate a ton of revenue, and there’s no doubt that some programs can be influenced by slimy boosters and coaches and others looking to enhance their self interest or benefit the status of the program.

But let’s not act like the NFL isn’t subject to the same BS.  Think about how they handled the CTE and concussion issue.  How they have treated retired players.  It’s shameful.  The whole Redskins investigation cover up (allegedly).  The Shield is about the bottom line and don’t kid yourself thinking it’s anything other than that.

New NIL Program To Give Texas Offensive Lineman $50K To Play In Austin

Between the transfer protocol, the coaching carousel and the above I am losing faith in the NCAA.

What little I had that is.

Bobby Knight has the best all time quote about the NCAA.  "If the NCAA had been in charge of the D-day landings the allies would have landed in Portugal"

To show how crazy this NIL thing is right now.  I live about 45 minutes from Columbus so I get killed with OSU stories all the time.  One good one was that all the freshman QBs who signed with OSU got a brand new Ford pickups worth $50,000.  I have yet to see a commercial or anything with these players.

Harry, I am not sure where they come up with those gawd awful halmark Christmas shows and my wife will have her friends over to watch a whole night of them.  Thank god I have a TV in my mancave.

My daughter was a Division 1 athlete at a mid-major (she was a distance runner). One of her assistant coaches gave her a ride to the airport for a holiday flight home. It was about 2 miles out of the way for the coach to drop her off at the airport (the coach had to drive by the airport exit to get home).

When she returned to campus, she was told that based on NCAA rules they had determined that this was an improper benefit and she'd have to repay $25 (the approximate taxi fare) and petition the conference for reinstatement before she was cleared to run again. She did and the reinstatement was a formality, but the level of scrutiny for an athlete in a non-revenue generating sport was absolutely ridiculous.

This was back in the mid-2010s, so it wasn't that long ago. At the same time, we knew of friends who had kids going to the University of Kentucky. The one-and-done basketball players there had to pass 6 credits in the fall semester and then were automatically eligible for the rest of the year. Somehow, the NCAA was fine with guys passing a physical education class and an entry-level class in some other area to get to be eligible to generate millions of dollars in tournament revenue, but were worried about things like dropping a kid off at the airport.

At least the hypocrisy is now more transparent.
