I'm using this thread as my news source. Every time I see there's a new post I'm hoping someone is linking to an article announcing that Drayton has been fired. Every time I open this thread I've been disappointed so far.
Well said Harry.
If incompetence is not dealt with, it is tolerated and comes back to hurt the team.
Iâm as disappointed as anyone about not making the big game the last 3 years. But I donât understand the dissing on MLF. Be careful what you wish for. He has brought stability to the organization, players seem to love playing for him, he wins (though we all wanted more), and he deals well with adversity. I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes, and I too think Drayton was a train wreck. I think changes will happen. However, Iâll wait and see how it plays out.

Time will tell
If I had a nickel.

I think MLF has to look within himself, then dig down deep, to lift us all up. I just hope he doesn't eat crow, getting there.

Remember, the grass is always greener on the other side, so be careful what you wish for, because the devil you know is better than the devil you don't. At the end of the day, it's only a game, and the sun will come up again tomorrow.
We do what we do.
How'd you like that?
We'll burn that bridge when we cross the Rubicon.
Drayton needs to take one for the team.
Something to think about, from PackersNotes:
Most people wanted the first-year coordinator to be fired in the locker room immediately following the epic special teams meltdown against the 49ers, but heâs still employed over a week later. While itâs difficult to imagine Drayton keeping his job, other factors at work could come into play. One is that LaFleur has already fired three assistants since 2020. Another is that Drayton would be the second Black coach let go after only one season. That wouldnât be the best of looks for an organization that already lags behind when it comes to minorities on the coaching staff and in the front office. The guess here is that LaFleur will ultimately decide to make a change, but itâs not the slam dunk most assumed it would be after what will go down as one of the worst special teams performances in the long history of the National Football League.
Need to have BK's input on the above post.
Maurice Drayton will not return as #Packers special teams coordinator, a source said. Story to come shortly.

There it is. Took longer than I anticipated, but no way could MLF bring him back.

Yay. Itâs about time.
I actually appreciate LaFleur taking the necessary time and review before making a change.
He stated he hadn't/hasn't been that involved with STs this season... so, now that he's taken a deep look at the season, the play of individuals and the coaching involved, he made his choice.
I updated the thread title. And agree, hell, the fact that 10!!!! players were on the damn field on the last and most important part of the game was fireable in and of itself.
Let's just hope to hell Murphy sticks a crowbar in his wallet and let's LaFleur hire a damn competent Outside hire as ST Coordinator. I am done with internal hires at this position.
They fired the Exxon Valdez captain faster than they fired this ass-clown.
Special teams about to have their fourth coordinator in five seasons (Zook, Mennenga, Drayton, TBA).
I hadn't seen this before. That's fucking embarrassing....
#Packers fans, I hate to do this, but someone has to tell me what upback Henry Black (#41) is doing here.

It looks like he's actively avoiding the guy who's going to block the punt.
I don't know if this is coached or not, but it's hard to watch. pic.twitter.com/dWEutJpl8Z

Brady AND Drayton gone? Weâre drinking today boys and girls!
Quick close the barn door, the cows are gone.
No Mo no more!
Had to be done. Now go out and find a great ST coach who can teach, motivate and hold his players accountable.
edit:
LV ST/HC Rich Bisaccia?
Mia ST Danny Crossman?

At least he made it appear he didn't want to fire his ass midway through the season. But THANK YOU MLF! You had the stones I was beginning to doubt you had. Now get rid of the entire ST coaching staff so the new ST coach doesn't have to feel pressure to keep any of the rest of the clown show. And Murphy, stay the fuck out of this. Ballz, just sign the damn check. Let MLF pick who he wants.

I read somewhere that Burks is the one who fucked up on this play.

Rich Bisaccia?
Those were my thoughts too. I didn't realize he was the ST coach.
Finally!
Tried to get him both a long snapper and returner; just missed on both.
I guess Silverstein should've said NFL caliber long snapper and returner. When did they bring in Moore exactly for that one game he played?
Thanks MLF.
Still have hope for you to be a special Head Coach.
Retaining Drayton, after elevating Mo due to Mennenega's ineptitude, would have pretty much extinguished that hope.
This now gives a nice little carrot to attract a new potential Special Teams Co-ordinator - first weekend on the job is an all expenses paid trip to Vegas!!!
Disappointed they cut Drayton loose. He showed real promise last year. My hope was that the Packers would eventually quit punting and kicking the ball. Dammit!
Thank god! Now all of the X4 hand wringing can end. Was there really any doubt MLF wasnât going to do it? Heâs moved on from other coaches when they didnât perform. Going through a process and not completely embarrassing a colleague (by firing him immediately after the game) is what a good leader does. I assume incoming candidates will take notice of how it was handled.

Rich Bisaccia already lives in Vegas!

This. The knee-jerk reaction would have been to fire him just after the final whistle, and all of us would have cheered. Taking the long view is frustrating to us fans, but MLF did the right thing. It's not like Drayton is the fall guy for a total MLF failure or is going to be snapped up by another team. He's probably looking at used car sales jobs right now, although he has to prove he can get the proper number of vehicles onto the lot.
