Oh, and George Plimpton's "Paper Lion." And since it is April 1, read his story "The Curious Case of Sidd Finch ." Classic work from a classic writer!

Re: SNF: #1 or #2 Seed Game Thread
Full disclosure.....I was rooting for the Niners. To be the man.....you gotta beat the man!! I'm hopeful the Pack & SF both win in 2 weeks! YES, I want this Damn Packer team to have to go back to SF & win. If I have to die a decade sooner thanks to the Packer/Lion game - I want those green & gold a-holes to go back into SF. Get your ass back there until you win! Assholes!! Next year (2020) regular season -- Packers have to play in SF. AGAIN!

Lion defense is ranked #26. No real excuse this week.

Nope. There is a Bears week (two of them annually), but no Viking or Lion week.

Anyone see the refs as onesided so far on this one? Lion holding all over the place.

Yes, yet they called that cheap one on Sitton. Very frustrating.

Can we sack the quarterback once tonight? Jesus Christ, they're playing pattycake with the Lion offensive line.

Re: How can we keep Jennings?
Jennings is a good player, but he's not a Larry Fitzgerald/Calvin Johnson type franchise receiver. Someone will pay him big bucks in the range of 4 years and 50 million with an 8 figure guarantee. He'll do well for one or two years and then injuries are likely to catch up with him. As it is, he's already missed 15 games the last two years and he turns 30 at the beginning of next season. As much as I'd like to keep him, I think you have to look at it that this is last chance to get the big...

Re: How can we keep Jennings?
Good post, I agree generally except I doubt Chicago or Detroit, both teams are paying huge amounts already for their #1, I don't see them paying 2 WRs that kind of money. Minnesota needs a premeire guy and love to get older Packers. Its worked somewhat with Sharper and Longwell, I expect to see him wearing purple with an outside chance of Miami. In the end, though, you are right, it whoever pays the most.

Re: Where's Waldo?
Bishop and Smith are instinctive players; Hawk isn't. Pairing Smith with Bishop is something the coaches should explore and the Lion game would present a great opportunity to try it out.

Re: NFL replay, Packers vs Lions
My thoughts: --Bush gets a lot of flak, but he does occasionally make plays (another INT) but his BIGGEST FLAW is missed assignments: TWO big Lion plays due to him going to the wrong receiver (one someone else picked up) and letting another Lion roam free. --Flynn was awesome. Seriously, with all the Luck hype, by the time the draft starts rolling around Matt will be the other BIG TICKET QB that somehow, someway, TT will manage to maneuver onto a team that will be mutually beneficial. I know...

I also remember well the 70s and 80s,it was exactly what the Lion fans are going through today, matter of fact they were also going through it back then but even under Infante,Starr and Gregg I dont remember the Packers making such a mindless play with the lead because back then any leads were precious and few and far between.letting Lions qb Greg Landry run for an 83 yard td on a qb sneak was bad enough.

1. Idot is spelled Idot. Re:Appendix 1a. "Idot: is spelled that way because when "Lionheart" was going to "colledge" ("kollege") to "lern" to be an "atterny" he "herd" a Lion Fan say "Fart will chock". Re: **Glazer Reports Lynch traded to Seahawks**
why does it always have to be one extreme or the other. I'm all for upgrading the running game, but aware that this can still be a strong offensive team with the squad we have and the right playcalling. I'm OK with trading for a guy like Lynch (whom I don't particularly like) as long as the price isn't high. I most definitely do not belong to the "at all costs" camp who feel a 2nd and another pick is worth it for a guy like Lynch. The offense was fine today against a decent Lion defense even...

Re: **Glazer Reports Lynch traded to Seahawks**
EKG, sounds like you have the same view as Coach, which is: the running game could use an upgrade, Lynch is a turd, but he's better than we what we have, but let's not trade more than a 3rd. I agree with everything there except for the round of the pick. I'd go one higher, preferably attached to performance. As for the secondary, you might be right that it's higher priority. However, is there a team out there with expendable CB's who is willing to trade?

Re: Alex Karras ... RIP
I just googled my favorite Karras story. A guy wrote it in the comments section. http://profootballtalk.nbcspor...-given-days-to-live/ For a wonderful insight into what a great player he was, dust off George Plimpton’s PAPER LION and read the section where a young NFL player who faced Karras first when Alex had a groin injury and made the mistake of saying something like “Karras is a good player, but he doesn’t have the really great moves of some of the better players in the NFL.” This was...

RIP to a great player. Another icon gone from "the glory days," even if he played on a different team. And belatedly, Plimpton, too. A great writer who had some memorable pieces, "Paper Lion" being just one of them.

Re: Alex Karras ... RIP
In addition to 'Paper Lion,' seek out a lesser-known Plimpton book called 'Mad Ducks and Bears.' It's basically Karras and teammate John Gordy trading war stories for 250 pages. Some good stuff.

Re: Why hasn't it sunken in yet.
That Lion team is going to be a huge PITA. They're close and their D-Line is nasty. Interesting that Suh said the toughest OL he faced was Sitton on the Packers. If Stafford stays healthy, the Lions have a shot at winning the division in 2011. They need some pass defense as in DB's. Today was the first day it has started to sink in. Yes the Green Bay Packers are YOUR World Champions!!!

Re: Frontline: League of Denial
Bubble, I remember reading that about high school kids. I think you'll find fewer and fewer parents letting their kids play football in the future. Our neighbor's 12-year-old had a fairly severe concussion last year and now he's got migraines. Are they from the concussion? We don't know, but he doesn't play football any more. As for Butkus? Some player (I think it was the book "Paper Lion") described being hit by Butkus as like being raked over, that he had a way of hitting that felt like it...
