Re: The Ugly, The Bad ...and the Good?
The Good. 1. Cook showed how much the offense can benefit when you have a TE that is a receiving threat. They really haven't had that since Finley. 2. Rodgers missed a few, but it was clear that Cousins was also having problems with balls thrown in the flat because of the wind. A couple of those moved several feet when thrown in that direction. Other than that, Rodgers played pretty well. The OL can't run block and can't really protect, so Rodgers is what's keeping them somewhat respectable.

Re: Are you "feeling it" NOW? +/- Seahawks WIN!
Lang held up for entire game and Lane Taylor is making Ted look Smerter every week. The TD to Nelson end of first half A-Rod steps to his left and Taylor puts his guy on his butt leaving the WHOLE left side wiped out for A-Rod! Fun play to watch.

They're attacking Taylor and blitzing after trying to play coverage early. They brought 8 last play.

Re: It's Bear Week!!!
Mike McCarthy makes it official: Justin McCray will start the opener at right guard. He made eight starts last year in a fill-in role last year at three different positions. He's the only new opening-day starter, joining LT David Bahktiari, LG Lane Taylor, C Corey Linsley and RT Bryan Bulaga. Rob Demovsky, ESPN Staff

Re: It's Bear Week!!!
Was that even in doubt. That line has NO depth. Heck, this team has no depth. A couple of big injuries and we are toast.

Re: It's Bear Week!!!
But that's true for most teams. Outside of the obvious (which is Rodgers getting hurt which would essentially end any hope for competing this season), they can't afford to lose Bakhtiari or Matthews. The Packers look to have strong depth at DL, CB (finally), and TE. Those latter two positions killed them in previous years. If you are paying a franchise QB you can't afford to have as much depth as other teams that don't have that cost.

Re: It's Bear Week!!!
I'd actually put Bulaga ahead of Matthews in order of who they can least afford to lose. Actually, losing anyone on the o-line would be bad because the drop off to the back-ups is much greater than with the linebackers.

Re: It's Bear Week!!!
OT and OLB are both equally of concern. There doesn't even seem to be a stopgap level backup at OT (Bakh/Bulaga to Murphy/Spriggs) or OLB (CM3/Perry to Gilbert/Fackrell). In both cases they are paying for some bad draft picks from TT. At OT, Spriggs and OLB: Fackrell, Biegel, and Bradford (who would be in Year 5 now). You have to think they were shopping Trevor Davis to try to get a replacement level player for a backup at one of those positions.

A few years ago there was a lot of angst about Lane Taylor. I was not down on Taylor then and I am not concerned about Spriggs now.

Re: It's Bear Week!!!
You're a brave man. Taylor was a UDFA at least. I hope Spriggs can become a competent backup. I don't see this guy starting.

Re: New Mexico Lobos @ Bucky
This will still be a test for the offense. They are now "missing" arguably their three best skill guys on offense if you can't trust Taylor and 2 of their top 3 WRs are suspended.

Certainly not trending in the right direction. Something he definitely needs to clean up.

Re: New Mexico Lobos @ Bucky
Hate to see the fumbling but Taylor is so freaking good you almost have to just deal with it because of everything else he does. New Mexico gave them an early scare but UW put their foot down and stomped them out. Good to see Neuville and Lowdermilk back. Need to get D Davis back in the fold.

How about this Jack Coan Mike Samuel Joel Stave Russell Wilson What if Taylor or Dayne played with RW?

Re: Best Badger RB of all time
What if Rufus Fergusen played with the lines these other guys had? Billy Marek was a heck of a runner back in the day too. Alan Ameche? The world did not start in the 90's. My vote would go to Taylor.

Re: Best Badger RB of all time
I'd have to compare the OL they had to run behind too. The problem is that they were all good. Dayne got to run behind Tauscher, Chris McIntosh, Casey Rabach, Aaron Gibson, and Bill Ferrario Gordon got to run behind Kevin Zeitler, Travis Frederick, Rob Havenstein, Ricky Wagner, and Tyler Marz Taylor had Ramcyzk and a bunch of other guys that will be good pros. Amazingly enough, Joe Thomas, the best OL in Badger history and one of the top 5 left tackles in NFL history never had a great RB...

Re: Best Badger RB of all time
It’s really tough to say who is the best given all of the great backs that came through Madison. It’s also easy to forget about guys like Brian Calhoun and Michael Bennett given they didn’t play several years for UW. Both guys had 1600 yards rushing and that easily gets lost in the shuffle when you think of guys like Dayne and JT and Gordon. My natural reaction would say Dayne is the best and hard to argue but honestly you could make a case for him or Gordon or Taylor. Heck, in terms of pure...

Re: Round 1 Pick 26 (From Miami) QB Jordan Love Utah State
Back up QB was a roster need, so there is that. I can only hope freedom from Gary Anderson and some quality coaching can help the kid become really good (hoping for another HOF is pretty selfish and not fair to Love). Expectations should be high because he is a first round QB and this does little to help the current team, but not every QB we use a first round pick on needs to be a HOF. As for AR, sure, I bet he is pissed. I have no problem with that. We were a game away from the superbowl...

I have zero expectations for Love. I also think Rodgers probably doesn't really give two shits. He already played with Kizer. Also, I don't think Rodgers will be a shit at all. He, Coach Boyle and Coach Kizer had to navigate McVince's last years so I don't think Rodgers is the petty type.

Re: 2020 NFL Draft Viewing Thread DAY 2/Day 3
Yeah I actually think Duvernay is a guy who could make the most difference right away. 4.39 speed, slot experience, versatility, he could get opportunities right away. Pittman and Higgins allow for Stern and Adams to play more Slot, so thats a plus for them. Pittman especially will be an early contributor. Logan Wilson would be a quality pick, as would Malik Harrison. Some interesting CBs/DBs still on the board. Tennessee Edge Darrell Taylor could be a wildcard if they’re looking for another...

I’m ok without them getting a RB- I just don’t have a lot of excitement for this guy. I was totally on board getting Jonathan Taylor, and can really see the running game helping this team control clock and give Rodgers more P/A opportunities. I hope this kid is Eddie Lacy without the ankle injuries... and China food.

Re: 2020 NFL Draft Viewing Thread DAY 2/Day 3
If you were going to take a RB why not trade up for Taylor or Dobbins? I mean, it’s pretty easy to get a RB later in the draft that’s big and physical and runs between the tackles. But you take this guy there? By the way, the NFL usually isn’t very kind to big RBs that aren’t elusive or fast - two things that Derrick Henry is and guys like that do not grow on trees.

Re: UDFA signings
Taken from 49er draft site: Antonio Gibson, RB, Memphis Height: 6'0" Weight: 225lbs. Projected Arm length: 31" Projected hand size: 8" Projected 40: 4.4-4.5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKm9IkvBopI https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/antonio-gibson/ Pros: Explosive athlete. He's a bigger back, so he's got the power and drive to break tackles and keep churning. Gibson has great hands and vision. He caught more passes than he had carries last season. Something the 49ers need in this offense.
