Gimme a break with this guy....

Seattle had that best balance throughout the year and really, again, in the second half were blowing people out by 50-7 scores and so forth.

So you're seriously counting the 2 games vs. Arizona (minus an NFL caliber QB) & vs the Bills with a grand total of 11 turnovers. Not to mention the throw away game vs. the Niners with another 2 turnovers & a blocked FG for a TD as meaningful??

That's a pretty small sample size.

If Seattle plays the Patriots in the Super Bowl, I'll tip my hat to the guy & acknowledge him.

The Patriots pretty much have a cakewalk into the AFC CG, so them getting there is no big stretch but I'll go out on a limb right now....

The other 3 teams in the NFC are far better teams than Seattle, & Seattle will have to go through TWO of them to get to the Super Bowl. Personally I don't believe they're getting by Atlanta but hey....what do I know? I only predicted the Giants wouldn't even make the playoffs this year & the Redskins were going to make the playoffs (but as a wild card).

Packers-49ers II: Offensive improvement
espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth

Time for a quick quiz. Can you guess the pass-happiest game in the five-year history of the Aaron Rodgers Era?

Tick, tock.

Tick, tock.

Brrring.

It came in Week 1 of this season, the Green Bay Packers' 30-22 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Highest Dropback Percentage,
Packers Since 2008

Opponent % Result
2012 49ers 85% Lost by 8
2009 Steelers 84% Lost by 1
2010 Bears 78% Lost by 3
2010 Redskins 78% Lost by 3
2011 Giants 77% Lost by 17 (Postseason)

As the chart shows, Rodgers dropped back on 85 percent of the Packers' plays in that game (52 of 61). More than half of those plays (31 of 61) came without a running back on the field. The approach has come to symbolize the worst of the Packers' occasionally imbalanced offense under Rodgers and coach Mike McCarthy, and it's an appropriate starting point for extending the conversation on how the team has changed over the ensuing 17 weeks.

Tons more past the click. I think Kevin Seifert has had some of the best stuff this week.
Watching first week replay, first half comments:

Replacement refs are horrid, lots of late flags. Missed 9ers false start, etc.
Why did they have Perry covering WR? Perry should be ILB, he is horrible in space.
Bush is Bush.
49ers will miss Manningham.
Hawk is Hawk, bad in coverage, decent in run defense.
Packers move the ball on 49ers pretty well. Saturday will not be missed at Center.
Rodgers had plenty of time to throw.
Kapernick had a long run on one play he was in, he is quick, we will need to spy him.

I think there's some good to take from this game. Rodgers did get some time and space to move around and throw. Also seems like he can work off Finley and the short passing game to set up WRs for rec/yac. If they can get any type of anything out of the run game, they can exploit this defense, as good as it is.
2nd half:

Rodgers throws deep on 3rd and 1, incomplete, had easy first down with check down to Kuhn.
Perry didn't hold the edge on run plays, he was rookie and it showed. Two Td plays he was at fault, I think after playing Peterson we have worked that issue out with Walden and Moses. Walden much more mobile than Perry.

Bush was bad, on long SF Davis catch.
Refs are horrible, thanks Goodel. The flags are so late in game it's laughable.

Shields not his best game.
Saturday couldn't block me, always goin backwards or can't reach his block or on his butt!

Finley big drop on 3rd down play. Another Finley drop, but was held and no call.
Merging played a lot and was ineffective, much better now we have Wilson back.

D.J. Smith was bad on several runs, out of position. Hawk bad too on 15 yard run.
Matthews a beast as usual.

Our 4 wides kept Willis on sideline, several missed pass interference calls, will be interesting to see if we get those calls with real refs.

God Perry is a slow linebacker.

Justin Smith not that impressed in this game.

I love the Harbaugh open mouth looney look when call goes against them.
Aikman/Buck ugh.

If we give Rodgers time we can win this game there pass defense is not impressive.
Their mobile QB is the main concern for defense though.
In week 1, I felt like the Pack had been thoroughly whipped by the 49ers after it was over.

Watching that replay tonight, it was nowhere near the whipping I perceived it as. If there was one thing that needs to change though, the Pack's front 7 needs to step it up from how they played that day. Maybe some new blood like Neal, Walden, and Daniels will help. DJ Smith was awful, hopefully Brad Jones can be an upgrade.

The offense was not terrible that day, but they just weren't quite clicking. There's been a lot that has changed since then and the offense has been playing better lately than they did to start the season.

The Pack got outplayed that day and deserved to lose. That said, if they come out focused, sharp, and intense, they can stay right with these guys and hopefully make some clutch plays in the end to pull it out. Even though they were ouplayed in week 1, you can tell the Pack can play much better than they did that day. Time to bring your A game, not your C game.
I agree fightpoe..

I keep hearing about how the "49ers thoroughly whipped the packers" in Week 1. It was looking ugly when it was 22-7, but after Cobb returned that punt, they got the 2 point conversion, the defense held them to a 3 & out and the Packers had all the momentum and a full quarter to work with. Rodgers threw the worst interception I think he's ever thrown in his career to Bowmann and the 49ers scored on the next play to make it 30-15. Packers scored quickly though and made it 30-22 with 6 mins left in the game.

The refs also missed a MAJOR facemask on the Packers final drive that would've set them up at about the 49er 30 yard line with 30 seconds left.
