Another example on why not to burn bridges when you leave an employer.
Damn it. Rodgers to Jennings was pretty awesome.

Damn it. Rodgers to Jennings was pretty awesome.
If he stayed he would have probably become the Packers all-time leading receiver and in Super Bowl contention every year.
He would have probably been in the Packers HOF....
Jennings will probably be in the Packers HOF anyway. Take a look at some of the players already in.
The #Vikings have released WR Greg Jennings.

Or your QB. Pretty sure a dude named Aaron wants nothing to do with him coming back either.
I predicted that Jennings would only last two years in Minnesota. I'd like to claim I'm a clairvoyant, but anyone could have seen this coming.
Takes him through age 37. Probably last contract. Deserved, year after year no QB takes more of a beating nor means more to his team.
Good to very good QB. Horrible human being. Deserves every beating he receives.
The wide receiver was the team's nominee for the 2015 Ed Block Courage Award, which he was scheduled to receive Tuesday for his work with the community. Jennings had built a house in the Twin Cities area and talked regularly about how much he and his family loved the area, saying he was planning to live in Minnesota after he retired.
So does he get the award or not? Will his be up for sale? Or is he retired now?
His comments were probably a bigger deal with the fans than the organization and I'm not sure he burned any bridges. If the Packers needed a veteran receiver at the right price they'd probably be open for a reunion but they don't.
I'm sure Cobb looked at the downward spiral of his career after he left and it factored into his decision.

I wonder if Minnesota was one of the teams who showed interest in signing Cobb?
Another vet corner off the market. At about what TW has been rumored to be asking for.
@RapSheet: CB Perrish Cox has just agreed to terms with the #Titans, per source
@RapSheet: The #Titans are giving CB Perrish Cox $15M over 3 years, source says. Large.
And then there was one. Packers are now the only team in league to have not made an addition to the roster since the start of free agency.
@RavensInsider: Ravens sign former Texans safety Kendrick Lewis to a three-year contract, sources say: http://t.co/AbKV61ar5u
Wow on the Jennings release.
I wonder in retrospect if he thinks he should have stayed with the Pack.
Who cares about him? He was the 3rd best AR12 target when he left at best.
It was reported Greg turned down $11 million in 2012 because he felt he was worth $15 million though that was never fully confirmed. He turned down $8 million per in 2013 and scooted off to the land of broken dreams.
Yeah, I don't buy that $11 million number at all. That's more than Jordy or Cobb in later years with higher caps/inflation.
When you chase the highest offer you have to be fully prepared that-that contract could come back and bite you in the ass.
Minny lost out to Miami for Wallace 2 years ago. Jennings was the consolation prize. They get Wallace now the cast Jennings aside. Again, you have to know its a possibility if you're not earning the contract. But it's still a no class move from the outfit that wrote the book on no class moves. Just chopping a guy off like that after you give him trash at QB. Greg should have talked to more people.
And based on the way Spielman drafts it's going to get harder and harder to remain competitive. Free agents are going to think twice about Minny now that they know they will cut your ass loose in 24 hours if a better option ever presents itself.
Nothing but a purple clown show.
He will play somewhere this year....
Only if he plays special teams.
Seriously. Seattle needed a 4% chance miracle to beat us last time, they shouldn't be getting this kind of kudos. The monkey's gone.
San Fran, San Diego, Cleveland, Houston. He'll find a spot. For 1/2 his current contract.
Not with Rodgers throwing up a 56 QB rating. AS is well down on the list of problem areas in that game.
Who cares about him? He was the 3rd best AR12 target when he left at best.
This.
Good luck gerg, hope you don't find other brainwashing.

Meanwhile Jennings regresses to average ............
Want to be a great receiver? You need to be in a great offense. When great receiver loses the guys around him who helped him get the opportunity to even catch the ball - he ceases to become great. Jennings may not yet have figured that out.
I doubt Jennings was dumb enough to think he had any chance to play out that contract with the Vikings. He has people for that, so there had to be some contingencies.
By the same measure, I doubt his time in Minnesota worked out as had been planned or expected. But that's too bad for him. I don't wish him bad luck, but I'll try not to cry myself to sleep tonight.
I think the worst of it for him is he's likely screwed his salary. Age is not his friend, and teams won't sign him to a contract commensurate to other "top" WRs. Somebody is likely to pay more than they should, but he may be lucky to see $3M/$4M PYA.
Green Bay West could use a WR and has money to spend, according to my source.
Now Greg has time to audition for a roll on CSI Omaha.

He could work for Saul at the Cinnabon in the mall...
Jennings to Seattle would make a lot of sense.
To him, yeah. Although I could see Schneider giving him a test drive because of auld lang syne.
Can't get separation anymore, and Gerg's too short to contest those jump balls Russell throws on most passes over 20 yards to covered receivers.
"Hey Brett, it's Greg. Guess things didn't work out the way we thought"
"WE? I cant believe you went there you dumbass. Christian Ponder??? How the hell did you think it was gonna' turn out?"
"WTF, you told me I should take their offer and go to Minny?!?!?!?!?"
"I changed my mind. Hey you cummin' to my number hangin' thing?"

Jennings has always run good routes. That would put him above most Seahawks WRs.
he'd be a decent #3 for the Lions.
He'll go to the bares to replace Marshall.
First significant play of his career there will be tackling Peppers just after a pick-6
Mark it down!
I doubt Jennings was dumb enough to think he had any chance to play out that contract with the Vikings.
He built a big house in the Twin Cities and talked about wanting to stay there after retirement. He fully expected to stay in Minnesota for the 5 year contract. He really was stupid and arrogant enough to think he was going to make Christian Ponder into a Pro Bowl QB. That stuff his sister was Tweeting about Rodgers being an average talent surrounded by stars wasn't just her opinion, those were Gerg's feelings, too.
I always remember Jennings as the guy who came to our company picnic in the summer of 2008 with his family and handled himself absolutely great. Somehow he seemed to change since then and let his ego get the best of him. Maybe this release by the Vikings will humble him a bit and he'll return closer to the person he was in 2008 and not the one who developed the giant ego afterwards.
Jennings' verbal diarrhea after he left struck me as just an attempt to convince himself he didn't make the horrible mistake he knew he made. The reported offer from the Packers was fair and reasonable based on what Vincent Jackson got from the Bucs and Jennings just miscalculated badly.
He shouldn't have any problem catching on with a team, although the number probably won't be to his liking.
