Sept 22, 2015:

"This quarterback Weeden can drive the ball down field," Jerry Jones said. "He's a thing of beauty on throwing a football. His passing motion and his arm, frankly, you won't see a more gifted passer, power, accuracy, the entire aspect of it."

Interesting take. How was it ever decided that a dropped kick-off in football was deemed to be called a 'muff' and how was a breaking point/decision-making time be deemed 'pulling the last straw?'

a muff (among other things) is a handwarmer, so I would speculate muffing a punt is tied to that.  There is no term "pulling the last straw" rather it is the last straw that broke the camel's back, meaning that one final small thing that did you in.

chickenboy, on the otherhand, just means dumbass.

Apparently, because “muff” is:

Hopefully “last straw” is a little less confusing.

Both are generic terms that can be (and are) applied to a number of situations – football being jus one of them.  I have heard them used in other contexts outside of football.

Thank you El-Conde, I did confuse the camel breaking point with 'pulling' (or drawing) the SHORT straw.' It's good to have you around. It is interesting to think that just one piece of straw actually broke a beast's back but that is a discussion for another day. However, I have never called a 'handwarmer' a 'muff' and when I have dealt with 'muffs' generally I haven't wanted to, for lack of a better term, 'drop' it.

Trade deadline passed, yes?

Still can't believe he signed that contract. Good for the Niners, bad for him.

He'll get league minimum somewhere with an incentive laden contract.

Obviously issues in the locker room or SF wouldn't have had to make this move

He's going to have surgery on his non-throwing shoulder. He must've talked to the coaches about doing it now so he could have longer to heal for next year.

My guess is he's still the QB for SF next year, unless they land someone early in the 2016 draft

Hmmm.

@PackersNotes: Jets waived former No. 1 pick Quinton Coples [2012], who had 16.5 sacks in his first 3 seasons. Interesting DE/OLB candidate for a 3-4 team.

Belichick or Rex Ryan will probably make a claim.

but you never know

Free agent safety DJ Swearinger (see post above) signed with Arizona today.

In other news:

@WesHod:  The #Seahawks released De Pere's Drew Nowak today. Started seven games at center for Seattle this year

He was expected to replace Max Unger who went to NO in the Jimmy Graham deal.

Working out Ball was nothing more than motivation for Lacy to get his butt in gear. Like they said, Lacy fears having the game taken away from him. What better motivator than sitting his butt on the bench and bringing in another RB for a workout? It worked.
