Has any defensive player drafted by GB after 2009 improved year over year after the year they were drafted? Sam Shields is the only guy I could come up with. Even Daniels has regressed.

Has the defensive coaching staff been that ****ing bad???

Yes, I am convinced Joe Whitt has Polaroids of someone in upper Management with a goat

If they weren't going to pay for Burnett they probably weren't going to pay for any backfield help. Considering all the picks for the backfield recently maybe they are salvaging all those picks.  It just bothers me when you have that many UDFA lined up as starters or big contributors.  One or two, absolutely but 4 is a bit much.   King should hold down one side, the rest is potpourri.

King, Dix, Jones, Rollins.... All top of the draft talent.    Add another Rd1 or Rd2 corner to the rotation your starting 5 is all blue chip.

Bryce will see the field, I think he was a UDFS, but he's been impressive.

When factoring the DB's let go who played well elsewhere and the DB's drafted who did not pan out, the Packers have spent way too much on the position for their returns.

Just the kind of thing that results in crap talent.

Disagree.

Burnett will probably play pretty well in Pittsburgh now that the "Wizard" isn't in charge of him.

Players all across the league (Heyward, Woodson, etc.) Talk about how the wizard called plays that everyone knew wouldn't work & also mis-cast players in improper spots for their talents. Slot instead of outside, etc.

What coaches should he be thanking?? Pettine for letting him get out of here?!?!? Hahah

I'm talking specifically corner and Jones is unproven.  Rollins, that ship is getting pretty close to sailing and we've already seen those UDFA getting more playing time because of it.  They aren't horrible but waiting for a guy to catch fire or being average at best isn't helping the defense as a whole go anywhere.  The reclamation starts with guys like Rollins and getting coaching to make Jones effective.

And I don't think it's wrong not to go for CB help in FA because those contracts are just stupid.  Getting Wilkerson, if he pans out, wasn't a bad move to cover the backfield restoration project.  As DH13 said previously, this year's expectations are tempered and that isn't at all unreasonable.  Pettine has a lot to sort out.

I really liked what Rollins did as a rookie and he appeared to have green pastures ahead of him until the  crutch monster go him.  Whatever speed he had was pretty much as little as he could get away with at corner so that Achilles injury does not bode well for him.  I do not have high hopes.  JJones however still has that new car smell that Pettine can hopefully turn into something more resembling a Hellcat than a Hyundai.

Whole lot in the piece about the addition of Jordy. Bottom line: they're not impressed and consider it a downgrade from Crabtree.

Depends if they get 2016 Jordy or 2017 Jordy.

Hundley wasn't even a decent college QB, but let's put it all the blame on Jordy. The great Randall Cobb had a fantastic 17', 9.9 yards/catch, but I suppose you get street cred for putting the onus Jordy.

Once they get away from the tutelage of one Joe Whitt, they're pro-bowl material

Exactly, why would you blame players for not playing well. Not getting separation, not breaking tackles, and overall average play aren't things you blame players for when they're named Jordy Nelson.

Much for drama?  I've defended 2017 Jordy (v. Hundley) countless times.  I was pointing to his performance, not the reasons behind it.

It's because he's white.  We need some HeeHaw stat!

If the Pack doesn't persue a guy like Reid, I hope it if because they think he isn't a good fit as a football player.  That he kneels for the national anthem to send a political message doesn't bother me in the least.

Can he kneel and play CB?  Kneeling safeties aren't a priority.  Although kneeling safety/LB hybrids sure wouldn't be bad

Maybe, but I think Capers was so much of a problem that almost the whole D needed to be blown up.

Was Capers really the problem if there wasn't a corner they could trust on the roster? If Thompson was cutting corners the coaches wanted?

For the good things he's done, Thompson has made an utter mess of the secondary twice now.

One thought I have is a draft day trade. The end of the first round should be a good spot for corners. Philadelphia could be in a position to take a corner for value and unload Ronald Darby's final rookie deal year for a pick even next year as they work their cap to get core guys extended before they have to pay Wentz.

The Chargers may also look to move Jason Verrett fairly cheap, though that's as much because of his knee as his cost. Still, that would likely be a conditional pick for next year and if his knee is healthy, he's 26 and worth th epick. If he's not, it's a much lower pick.

If the Browns move down from a move up deal by the Bills, they may also want/need to move a top second for a pick next year also, though that would still be a rookie.

My only concern with Reid is he's kind of the same guy as Clinton-Dix, Jones and Burnett. I know they generally want guys to be interchangeable but it would be nice to have someone who has more of a free safety skill set on the back end.
