listening to local Bucs talk radio there was not anyone that sounded all excited about the possibility of taking James for the Bucs. They were saying he was a great athlete but rarely did enough on the field to make a difference. Any many of the callers were FSU alum. So whether James or Edumunds are all that is as much in debate as whether or not Alexander is all that. I have no idea how these guys are going to translate to pro ball but hoping Alexander is better than Rollins or the already out of here Randall.

I'd actually trust the super homers of Florida college football. I think it's pretty safe that Alexander will be a better fit than Randall and definitely better than Rollins. Both tweener projects.

I think it was Gute taking advantage of a team that is all-in this year. The Saints pick at worst is #32. However, the Saints pick is one injury away from being a top 10-12 pick and that injury risk is a 39 year old QB.

Reading back through older articles & finding out things here in Dallas - Seems Packers were really, REALLY trying to trade up & get Minkah. When that didn't work, they traded down & "settled" for Jaire while picking up more draft capital.
Dolphins probably wanted the moon to move up 3 spots - good for Gutey standing his ground on value.
Although I don't see why Pack couldn't have worked with Oakland who DID trade down with the Cardinals - Don't see why the Packers couldn't beat this deal if they really wanted Minkah that bad

That's exactly what I was thinking. AZ didn't pay too much to move up. Seems like Packers could have easily made a similar move.
But after seeing how everything worked out, I'm glad it didn't happen. Time will tell, but based upon what I've read, there is a very good chance that Alexander ends up being as good, if not better, than Minkah. So I'm happy with Alexander and a future 1st.
Draft gurus... Feel good story aside, what round is a reasonable spot for Shaq Griffen to land and what's his ceiling look like?
Well he was invited to the combine and I think to the Draft Room.
He has great speed and strength.
Griffen is interesting. I'd guess top of 5th, but hobbits seem to be in fashion this year and it only takes one GM. The hand aside, he's awfully small for a linebacker. He's probably a Joe Thomas-type in the dime, and special teams. Hand work is so important in the pros and length can be too.
If a team sees him as the nickel guy also, he could see the third round

The top QB was the shortest, the top 3 corners were all small, as is Kolton Miller (lean vs. short) and neither receiver has great size.
Roquon Smith is also lacks desired size.

Ok, bad joke. Truth be told, I really don't care how big or small guys are as long as they can play. Being 5'8" 167 lbs. myself I personally have some love for the vertically and horizontally challenged individuals of the NFL.
Griffin is 6’/225 lbs. with 4.38 speed. He can bulk up without losing much speed. Shaq Thompson does just fine in Carolina at 230.

Love his athleticism and attitude, but hand usage is kind of important for shedding blocks and tackling.
