Impossible. Defensive coaches cannot win with rookies

Pardons for stepping out of the Vikings Suck thread, but I'm still thinking the Pack should play a 4-3 D.
Better players on the d-line than LB, get 'em on the field. My 2 cents.
Come on, man. Nobody really exclusively plays either 43 or 34 anymore. Most 3-4's, Pettine's included, have 4-3 looks. Not to mention the sub packages. It's also easier to find 240lb edge rushers (34) than it is to find 295lb edge rushers (43) in the draft. Both are critical to their respective defense's pass rush and overall success.
Pardons again for stepping out of VS, but the days of 295+ 4-3 DE's are loooong gone.
Danielle Hunter, 4th round. 260 pounds for example.
You're so polite. I would add to your assertion that Nick Perry is and always has been a 4-3 DE. But to DH13's point, it is pretty pointless to name any particular scheme. The percentage of 5 or 6 DBs on the field at any one time is pretty high considering the lack of rotation on DL and the turd festival at OLB.
DH13 posted:Yeah, about Burks.
Has anyone been watching him or read about any game reviews calling him out? I haven't seen or heard a word. Wonder if that's a good or bad thing.
Remember that first drive against the Pats? They targeted Burke. Remember the result of that drive. That’s how bad Burke has been.
But he was so good in the preseason .

Nope. Didn't see it or most of the game.
@Smiley, I'd say the same thing about M. Adams. He seems to have evaporated.

Are you saying this makes him common? Still harder to find guys for a 43 DE than a 34 OLB. Except in GB where the opposite is true.
#Packers sacked Osweiler 6 times on Sunday - now tied for the league lead in sacks (31)... And 2nd most on 3rd down (15)

Pettine Effect.
There is always a caveat with sacks as to whether or not they impacted the down, drive or game. They are often compared with consistent pressure, whether the pressure resulted in sacks or not. In other words were they impactful? Third down, red zone, or "game deciding drives" are where you want your sacks. Pettine doesn't have the luxury of edge rushers capable of providing consistent pressure throughout the game so he has to pick his spots with where he blitzes and where he sends extra guys or stunts.
I didn't see consistent pressure yesterday but 6 is a lot of sacks so they did effect the overall complexion of the game. But you can't play Brock Osweiler every week.
They can get to Russell Wilson IF they contain him!

I read that both starting tackles for the Dolphins were injured.
The #Packers have a league-high 31 sacks this year by 15 different players (a stat @RobDemovsky presented to Kenny Clark in LR today).
— Wes Hodkiewicz (@WesHod) November 12, 2018
With seven games left to play, that's already tied for the most by a GB defense in a non-strike year since sacks became an official stat in 1982
Pettine is really squeezing the most out of what talent he does have. Certainly didn't have that sense with the previous DC.
Is it squeezing the most out of the talent, or leveraging the talent and putting the players in position to succeed?
Squeezing the talent after Gute filled the holes.
I am going to tread into dangerous water here. If Kyler Fackrell is a useful rotational pass rusher, not only would it not be the first time that it took until year 3 for that to happen at that position but it would also mean he's not a bust. That's a legit pass rush move. pic.twitter.com/uOEmMBCSwd

He's the Mormon Mauler!
Fackrell got more defensive snaps than Matthews.
Is he on any commercials?
When will he show up in State Farm commercials? Clay and Cobb have disappeared.

Yes, looks like quality depth and someone who could develop into a really good rotational player. I wonder when the last time we saw an interior DL like this in GB? 2 All-Pro starters (Clark, Daniels), 3 quality depth players (Adams, Lowry, Lancaster) with a former all-pro player on IR (Wilkerson). If they decide to resign Mo Wilkerson and everyone stays healthy we're staaaaaacked in the interior.
GD -what have you seen out of M Adams this year? I haven't been able to watch closely enough, just saw him flash vs. MIA. Many had already chalked him up as a bust. He looked good in PS but what does that mean. Any thoughts on him?
We've only seen 51 snaps from him (basically a games worth of action), so maybe it was a stretch for me to call him "quality depth" depth where he's at right now. More of a projection. I think the athletic upside is there and after losing his first season to injury I think it's fair to call 2018 his rookie season. His lone sack was a quality hustle play though, athletic move around the RG and hustled after the QB who was on the other side of the formation. Context is important because it's not like he whipped Steve Hutchinson in his prime, he beat a barely average RG and sacked an immobile QB, but it's confidence builder for him. I think we will see him start to get more snaps as the second half of the season unfolds and Clark/Daniels need to be spelled more, so I think in the coming weeks we will get a better sense of where he's at. I have a hunch he will make a jump this offseason. Kenny Clark had 21 tackles and no sacks in his rookie year after playing far more snaps than Adams.
This kid is fukkin monster...
#Packers DT Kenny Clark... 3rd most snaps on defense this season. Always showing up on film... Now starting to add up in the stat sheet!

God damn you, TT.
And only 23 years old...
Just imagine how good he would have been if TT had waited to draft him until he was older. He was a reach at that age.

Vikings?
Still waiting.

I wish we could have drafted him younger. He’s already be a 5 year vet and on his second contract!
I wonder if Pettine ever says stuff like "Thanks Ted!" or just puts together a game plan with a collection of diamonds and turds and goes to work?
The angry, bald turd polisher.
Kyler Fackrell all of sudden becoming an insane pass rusher . . . good look for Moss.
I'm waiting for the 4 game suspension to start the season in 2019 for Fack.

Daniels is going to be out of action for at least 2 weeks.
Mo' challenge for Pettine, Montgomery, and players.
"... It looks like the Green Bay Packers will be without one of the top defensive players for at last the next two games. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Packers defensive lineman Mike Daniels will miss a few weeks due to a foot injury which he suffered on Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks. Rapoport said Daniels will get an official timeline from Dr. Robert Anderson once the team gets back from their weekend off."
