I don’t expect Clay to ever really ever get over his hammy. It’s just his play style. It seems reckless and unrelenting. That can be good but it also lends itself to injury. It’s just how he plays. Also banging against larger olinemen doesn’t help. I am not sure what it is about Perry’s hand. But maybe Pets scheme will allow for more control in the pass rush and being “smart” with it will reduce injury’s. But then again this is the Packers, so who knows?
Here's a thought, Clay. Instead of bitching about who is/is not behind you and Perry, how about you two play like you're worth the combined $22 million you are getting paid this year.
Trying to bend & beat LTs on the outside pass rush puts a lot of torque on hammys, In addition, guys who added a tremendous amount of muscle weight in a short period of time always seem more susceptible to muscle pulls.
Clay and Braun should open an anti aging clinic. The restaurant game partners with Rodgers wasn't kind to Ryan, but this is a no doubter
I'm getting pretty pumped. Owen Burks may be a really pivotal pick as well.
music to mine ears:
The Packers’ new coordinator and scheme emphasize the inside rush, which is this defense’s strongest area.
--------------
“If I’m an offense, it’s a lot easier to handle guys off the edges via formation or chipping or doubles,” Pettine said. “Inside, usually somebody’s getting— one guy, maybe two — are getting one-on-ones. Those guys have to win. If you can be dominant inside, I think that just has a ripple effect throughout your defense when you’re speeding up that quarterback’s clock because you have guys winning inside or at least pushing the pocket."
I hope they keep Josh Jones at safety so he can actually learn a position. I could see a lot of safety blitzes for him. I don't see Martinez crashing through the line but we'll see.
Agreed. Sneaking, maybe. Not crashing.
I hope there's an actual Sneaky Pete scheme. It would be a nice change from NASCAR, PSYCHO, GRENADE SUNDAE
How about a Stinky Pete?
Ranking all 32 NFL defenses heading into the 2018 season
They've got the Packers at #19. Given the changes strikes me as largely guesswork and I tend to be a bit more optimistic than that.
Is their ranking estimated for WK01 or WK17? #19 at WK01 sounds like it could be right. It will take some game reps to get the whole thing humming. Should get a good read on them by WK12.

Considering the debacle of the Compers era, I don’t know why anyone would rank them higher than 19 at this point. I think they’ll be better than that, especially as the season progresses, but it’s a giant question mark right now.
I think 19 is higher than they’d be ranked going into the season if Compers was still around.
#19 gets us to the play-offs.
#10 gets us to the NFC Championship.
*Anything better than that should mean Super Bowl.
*Collar bone health as a caveat.
Would not be surprised if there's not at least one starter or significant back up on defense not yet on the roster.
#10 gets us a Super Bowl. Rodgers got this team to the NFCC dragging that turd defensive scheme.
Defense is hard.
That's what she said .....sorry I've been watching a lot of "The Office" lately
Rankings aside, I just want to see the defense at a point where it appears they could win a game if necessary. Been quite a few years since they've approached that level.
Michigan, I am right there with you. It sure would be nice to watch a game knowing that we have confidence that the D will clamp down on another team. To often the D has seemed soft and passive to me.

Baby steps my friend. I think we are finally at the point where Demitri Goodson gets cut. That means we're better right ??
Seriously, CB cupboard is stocked. Gonna be a few surprise cuts - Rollins ??
Demetri Goodson has been lauded by the coaches for his performances at the minicamp. He’s our next starter.
For what it's worth (not much), last night I dreamed we beat the LA Rams in the first round of the playoffs 11-3, it was tied 3-3 at the half and we got a TD in the third quarter and Mercedes Lewis caught the two point conversion. Vikings trounced the Niners in the other NFC wild card game.
So maybe our D will be decent.
Sorry, no way that dream comes true.
Viks ain't trouncing anyone in the playoffs.

FIFY
Made it more realistic.

Not only that but if Rams, Whiners, Suckqueens and Packers are in Wild Card games that means Seattle or Arizona won the West. That ain't happening either. And also somebody from the NFC East and South had better records than the Packers.
#3 GB hosts #6 Rams
#4 SF hosts #5 Vikings
Philly and Atlanta (as an example) could be the top two seeds.
Indeed, since we know four of the six playoff teams and there are two divisions not represented, the other two teams must come from those two divisions.
Well done Fedya. Now we don’t need to play the games
We don't need to play the games to know the Vikings are going to fail spectacularly.

So we were in a wild card game? If our defense is decent, I would think we would be beyond a wild card game - maybe not first round bye territory - given an expected offensive output.
Depends if it was decent all year or started slow and got to decent by Dec. That's more about what I'm expecting.

In the dream it was a regular PAT but a bad snap and Opie picked it up and threw it to the TE in the end zone. Weird play.
After an ‘all-timer’ of a speech to team, Mike Pettine gets to work on Packers’ defense
“Well, it’s a different mindset. That was what was talked about a lot (Wednesday),” Rodgers said following the first practice of training camp Thursday. “Coach Pettine got up in front of the squad and gave — I don’t want to beef it up too much, but it was a near all-timer.
“I’ve been around here for 14 years, and that was a really, really good talk to the team. As an offensive player, to hear the defensive coordinator get up there and talk about defense the way he did and goals and mindset, that was pretty impressive. And that gives you a lot of hope.”
I think Pettine gave the speech from the booth.
