Watson brought back memories of Lofton on that end around.  That's the last receiver I remember in GB that could house that play at any given moment.

I thought the exact same thing.  For pure raw football speed, I think Watson might be the most explosive athlete at WR for the Pack since Lofton.  Watson certainly needs a lot of work in a lot of areas, but that raw explosiveness he has is special, even at the NFL level.

Watson's combination of speed and size is a lot like Calvin Johnson's. They are both 6'5" and ran 4.35 40s.

The difference is that Calvin Johnson's hands were also elite level and Watson is never likely to develop great hands, but I'd be more than happy with Calvin Johnson athleticism with C-level hands (with some room for improvement still).

He's also way looser in the hips than MVS was, who sometimes while running routes looked like a game piece on one of those vibrating electric football games.

Watson gotta lotta wiggle for a big fast guy.

I used to get one of those electric football games every year for Christmas when I was a kid. For some reason mine would always end up in my older sister's room and would be worn out by next Christmas. I didn't even know she liked football...

If Dropvante can end up with some of the best hands in the league, Christian can certainly improve there.  But he'll always be a burner.  I don't see Watson becoming some crazy route runner, tho lets be honest, with his speed he doesn't need to be, he can be the next Calvin or Moss.

Adams drops were during a bad sophomore slump where he was also hurt. His hands were a strength coming out, as was his ability to make contested catches. His deep speed and lack of elite size at his speed were the knocks against him. His catch radius was already good and is now just sick.

It's basically the opposite with Watson. On his TD catch today, he had a separating quick step and did a nice job of positioning his body to screen the defender, but caught it like a pee-wee leaguer with a bushel basket.

Wow. Anything to rip on Watson cause  you wouldn't have drafted him.

Watson has a ton of natural ability…let’s just enjoy the process and not be so quick to deem him β€œthe next X…” or a bust. People did it with Davante. By the time he left GB he had way more great days than bad ones. 9 will have amazing plays, and amazingly bad plays. That’s part of the development process.

Megatron was a goddamn menace in college…he was 30lbs heavier than Watson and had arms like an orangutan that looked like steam pipes.

Know who else compared to both in RAS score? Matt Jones from Arkansas. Total bust.

His TD run looked strange on TV, like the camera lost track of the ball, then identified Watson as the ball carrier at about the same time he was starting to turn the corner.
FWIW, that was an EXCELLENT fake; I think #39 on the Bears was the only one that knew. Even #31 (defending Watkins) didn't see it, and the play was coming right at him!

But if you were paying attention and knew that Watson had the ball, it was easy to see his speed differential, and I knew it was a TD before he reached the edge.

And, Mr. Watson, no more leaps into the end zone.
Your body isn't built for that, and don't want to lose you to some freak injury.

In many ways Watson reminds me of another Wisconsin Star athlete. Giannis! Really raw, but freakishly athletic. The other common denominator? Both guys have a reputation for working their asses off. I think when Watson is done all his critics will be in hiding.

I actually would have preferred we keep Jamaal and never drafted Dillon.  Jones/Williams was a good enough duo that I didn't see the need to use a second rounder on Dillon. That pick could have been better used on OL or WR.  And that's not hindsight, that's what I wanted at the time.

I love me some Dillon and glad we have him. I just wish somehow, some way we could have all three. GREAT depth !
