Perhaps if you lower your expectations and pencil Watson in to being out half the season with an injury,  you won't be so disappointed when it actually happens.

I really like Watson as a player but I honestly have low expectations with Watson and staying on the field.  That way I am not disappointed when he is out and am pleasantly surprised when he does play.

They're not going to get anything for Toure.  There are guys like that all over the league.

Maybe. MAYBE you get some conditional 7th round pick if he sticks on a roster. But 90% chance he's just gone.

We're all going to be worried all season about Watson. Every time he takes a hard hit or goes down, it's fingers crossed. That's why I think they'll keep six WRs. I'd like it to be DuBose, but it may be Heath because I think he's more willing to tackle and could be used on STs.

I have a sneaky suspicion that they might keep Pratt on the 53 and sign Clifford to the PS. Pratt has a higher ceiling and while he hasn't set the world on first in TC, Clifford has been bad from all accounts. I'd hate to cut Pratt and have another team snatch him up. I don't think there's much chance of losing Clifford to another team. On Sundays, Clifford can be QB 3.

I agree with this.

@TomSilverstein: LaFleur said the team will practice Tuesday and Wednesday, have a walk-through on Thursday and then travel to Denver for a joint practice Friday and preseason game Sunday night.

.
LaFleur said he and Broncos coach Sean Payton talked again yesterday about the plan for Friday’s joint practice in Denver and said they’re “on the same page.”

They both agreed, the broncos suck

Annual appreciation post for Boris, Tit, Satori et al for posting pertinent articles, videos, etc. so slugs like me can hop into X4 and get caught up without having to bomb around the internet.

Much appreciated.

Back to Toure---I was at Camp Randall when Nebraska came to town a couple of years ago. He was by far the most electric player on the field--obviously it wasn't Alabama versus Georgia-but I was very happy when Gute took him in the 7th.. Early on it looked like he was going to develop, but a couple of muffs and some pretty good competition later, he hasn't been able to show much...not that he would bring a king's ransom in a trade, but I think he could be a decent receiver/returner  for someone

I think at this age/stage of development, he's shown that there isn't much upside to his game. When teams take a shot at a 7th or UDFA, they're hoping to strike gold and see a surprising upward ascent. But what happens most of the time, is a lower ascent to a lower ceiling. ( plenty of exceptions)

In the same system with the same team, the other younger WRs have blown by Toure , so you have a pretty good barometer of where he's at in this system

He's a decent option as you noted, but nobody is giving up anything for a guy you're going to release.

In the graph below, ( an admitted over-simplification) everybody is clumped together on the left when they first arrive in GB. But over time they separate themselves and the Packers have had him for 2.5 yrs. - plenty long enough to know which trajectory he's on.

There was another WR Gute took in the 7th several years ago that looked fantastic at LSU, Malachi Dupre?  He couldn't get on the field and I think didn't make the 53 as a rookie.  He washed out of the league in a couple years.

Forever Toure.

The most they could possibly get is a 7th rounder and only if 2 teams were vying for his services. 7th rounders have become valuable lately to take a guy and keep from having to bid for his services with the other 31 teams on the UDFA market after the draft. You've seen Gutey stockpile 7th rounders for this reason.

Niners can't even get what they want for a guy like Aiyuk. Packers ain't getting shit for Toure'
