The Jets absolutely need to draft a QB soon. It’ll be fun watching AR get all pissy if the Jets use a high draft pick on a QB instead of drafting a shiny new weapon for his highness. Hopefully if that happens, somebody will remind him that he’s 40 years old and lasted all of four plays this season.

No wonder he got all pissy about Love. While he may not have seen what Love could do when he was drafted, he could see the writing on the wall.

And an OC.
@ZachBlatt: The Jets want to make a switch at QB. The team is leaning towards Zach Wilson to take over, but he is reluctant to stepping back in, sources tell @DMRussini and me. The team is hoping he changes his mind as they continue to discuss the next steps.
@bykevinclark: Literally Zach Wilson:

Dude...
You are not a player that can decline playing when someone gives you a chance to play. Your stock is bottomed out and sitting out isn't going to help you at all.
Would you want to go back and try to pass behind that offensive line?

Robert Saleh said Zach Wilson told him 30 min ago when they met that he wants to play.

What an absolute shitshow in NY

I don’t blame him. He has a shit OL, the worst OC in the league, and two roster spots taken up by veteran WRs who suck so badly that they can’t get on the field. The two QBs behind Wilson had zero success in that shitty offense.
I get it, he’s under contract and he’s had no success in the league so he doesn’t have the clout to decide if/when he plays….thats not how it works…..but I’d be apprehensive about playing too.
I haven’t paid any attention to Wilson’s career so I don’t know what his ceiling is, but he got screwed having to play QB for that shitty green team this season. I hope he gets another chance on a team that knows how to build an offense.
Hackett….lol. Sean Payton shouldn’t have said it, but he wasn’t wrong.
Saleh didn't mention he was waterboarding him at the time.

So if Rodgers is medically cleared to play in 2 weeks will Saleh say the same about him?
Saleh is a fucking meathead that isn’t far removed from Bret Bielema level competence. He might look and sound dumber than Hackett which is an accomplishment in itself. They are both complete dolts. But hey talk tough and look feisty on Hard Knocks lol.
Aaron Rodgers owes Sean Payton an apology. He was 110% right in that Hackett was a moron and still likely is.
@bdplant posted:Hackett….lol. Sean Payton shouldn’t have said it, but he wasn’t wrong.
Right, wrong or indifferent he NEVER should've said that.
Plus Payton lost to that "worst coach". Payton is lucky Rodgers wasn't playing. At that point in the season Denvers defense was complete horseshit and I have no doubt Rodgers would've hung 80 on Denver if he could. Nobody plays better with a chip on his shoulder than Rodgers...nobody.
Zach Wilson has arm talent. I've seen it. He can make all the throws to all parts of the field. I've seen him do it. However he is done in NY and needs a fresh start.
Fresh start? Where? The CFL?
Losing breeds losing. The Jets are a mess. The coaching staff sucks. The roster is vastly overrated. They are 4-8 but should be 3-9 given miracle win against Buffalo.
Wilson may not have any leverage, but he doesn't need any.
If I were him, I'd tell the Jets to FO, too. His salary is guaranteed for this year, and he's not getting an extension or new contract.
So good
@ammo posted:So if Rodgers is medically cleared to play in 2 weeks will Saleh say the same about him?
If they really mean it when they say he's only returning if the playoffs are possible then he won't be playing. Which means it may or may not happen.
Just another mystery
It's complicated, fella.
I’m told the #Jets are signing QB Brett Rypien off of Seattle’s practice squad and are releasing Tim Boyle, per source.

Woof.
Looks like 2 steps back after taking 2 steps back.
This is like QB #4 since Rodgers went down....

It's going to likely get worse in 2024 and into 2025.
Zach Wilson has an 11 million dollar cap hit next year (and an 11 million dead cap hit), so it costs them zero cap room next year to keep him, but I'm not sure they can do that again.
Lazard is a 12 million dollar cap hit but costs 18 million to cut in 2024. He's a healthy scratch recently.
They can't move on from Rodgers even if he reaggravates the Achilles by coming back too early (or otherwise gets hurt in some other way as a 40 year old). His cap hit is relatively low (17 million) but his dead cap if they released him is 66 million. Even in 2025, he has a 50 million dollar dead cap hit (50 million to keep on the roster then).
They are already basically said they are desperate to get Davante Adams this off-season. They'll probably trade away some high picks in 2024 and 2025 to do it.
They can't really get rid of Saleh or Hackett given that Rodgers wants Hackett there and no head coach with any self-respect is going to sign on with the requirement to keep Hackett as their OC.
The Jets are going to continue to be terrible until at least 2026.
SKOL!
AR is the gift that keeps on giving…..the whole year!
A cow chip of the month club.

If Rodgers plays the entire year, they'll be competitive. You know him with a chip on his shoulder.

That headline is a bit misleading because to be fair he said it's too early in his career to be too high or too down on him or any player. Rodgers was actually pretty complimentary.
@Packy posted:And, maybe dating famous women also keeps him in the headlines.
And having heard of whomever a player is dating somehow affects their play, amirite?
Rodgers is a rather well-to-do, very well-known celebrity. That's a whole different lifestyle. Unless your significant other has been with you for most of the rise, it's tough for someone to come into with no experience (sorry, Goldie). Heck, Travis Kelce is finding out he's comparitively low on the celebrity scale when it comes right down to it, and he's one of the bigger names in football. The dating pool usually changes dramatically when you become extremely rich and/or famous.
