Saw that Geno Smith feels that a coaching change in NY would be best for everyone. Didn't know where to post it so figured I'd start a coaching pink slip thread. And Geno is one of the dumbest ****s in the NFL. You're never winning if that imbecile is your QB. Saying a coaching change would be best while the coach is still in the building. Amazing.

Harbaugh, Ryan, Coughlin, Trestman. Anyone else? Mike Smith might make the list if he loses to Carolina. Riverboat Ron might be as well if he loses to Atlanta.

Harbaugh is under contract to the Niners, why would they trade him to Oakland and have him right under their nose for the next 5 years?  They obviously know he is a good coach and would have a pretty good chance of turning the Raiders around.  The Niners seem to be going in the wrong direction and having a daily reminder winning across the bay would not be good.

i think it is Michigan or some other NFL franchise, not Oakland.  Actually SF is the best NFL option.

Harbaugh and SF are done with each other. Monday can't get here fast enough for either  side.

Oakland is absolutely in play. I think Michigan is the choice. I would say Chicago doesn't have enough talent on defense to sacrifice a 2nd round pick for a coach but Emery is involved so who knows.

If the Niners can get one or more high picks from the Raiders, why not? If he he goes to Michigan there's no compensation.

Niner management is sufficiently arrogant to think they don't have to worry about the Raiders poaching local interest. Seems to me that the fan bases would be pretty stratified already. I would say that Reggie had a hell of a draft this year and that they have some nice pieces in place. SF in cap hell and stuck with a regressing Kaep, love it.

While Harbaugh is under contract, it's a done deal that he's gone on Monday. I don't know if that means some sort of settlement or what but the Niners certainly don't want a lame duck coach in 2015 & Harbaugh probably doesn't want to quit & leave $5 million on the table. Some sort of middle ground will probably be reached with a mutual parting of the ways. Yes, a trade is possible too. One thing I have to say is man Baalke got a $hitload of draft picks for Alex Smith. So who knows.

Either way, Harbaugh is gone as Jay Glazer reported

Harbaugh has done a somewhat admirable job of deflecting questions about Michigan. Trent Baalke however has no issues telling everyone they are in fact talking

Those two guys must absolutely hate each other at this point.

I'd add Doug Marrone of the Bills to the list as a possibility.  New owner Pegula may want to clean house and bring in his guys.  Marrone championed for drafting EJ Manuel and he's a bust.  Bills really dropped the ball against the Raiders when playoff hopes were on the rise.

Edit:  Jay Gruden is a possibility as well.  You don't usually last if the owner's favorite player is thrown under the bus.

Yes Philbin got the "Vote of confidence" after their win vs. the Vikings.

However, remember, Ross loves Harbaugh & is a Michigam alum....so there's that hanging out there

I say that's a little less than 50/50. While Marrone hasn't had great results, he's off to a better start as a HC than the last half dozen of his predecessors and seems to have good control of the team. The main issue is that Nate Hackett is an utter failure as a HC and the lack of a QB (2013 wasn't a prime quarterback year, although they probably should have traded way back into the 2nd if they wanted Manuel). Unless Marrone is married to Hackett, I see him getting one more chance.

Thought about Chip and Payton as well. I could see Chip bolting back to College. I don't think Philly makes the first move. Saints are getting close to melting everything down and starting over.

Another HC not mentioned, but could be up for the axe, is Andy Reid. He's under-achieved the last couple of years, IMO.

Somebody above mentioned Coughlin in NY. He's been hanging on the last 3-4 years by a thread, but the suck that is the Giants right now could mean changes all around.

I don't see anyway Fisher gets canned.  The Rams have played well, and have been devastated at the QB position.  If ATL doesn't make the playoffs, I think Mike Smith is axed.  Talk  about under achieving..

Jeff Fisher is hands down the most over rated coach in the last 40 years.

20 years as a head coach.

6 playoff appearances

5 playoff wins

2 playoff wins outside of 1999 and the benefit of the horrible non call on the "Music City Miracle"

3 one and done's in playoffs, twice as the #1 seed

3 division titles

Yawn.  Mediocrity.  He's Mike Sherman with a bitching stache.  Actually, Sherman was better in regular season and about the same in playoffs.

@AlbertBreer

Per source, Jets have approached Ron Wolf about a role as a consultant. Wolf worked for the Jets before going to Green Bay in '91.

The one consultation he did that stands out the most...recommending this dude for GM:

Don't get too excited J-E-T-S fans.

He was a terrific GM. But IMO, unless you have a CURRENT grasp on what the league is like in 2015, who the hot young coaches are, are scouting players like you did when you were a GM it's pretty hard to give tangible, valuable input.

He hasn't held a position of relevance in what a decade and a half ? The NFL is vastly different then in his days.

They might as well try to woo Dikta from BSPN.

I don't know if I'd be that harsh, p-boi. You have valid points, if he was in a role to give input on personnel decisions.

I think his value these days is showing teams how to organize their front offices, how to refine scouting techniques, creating efficiencies amongst executives, coaches, and players, or other 'behind-the-scenes' responsibilities.

I think Harbaugh is an over-rated entity. He is very good, but who had a better roster than the niners in the past 3 or 4 years?…He helped drive them straight into the ground. His whining, self focused,  'empathy free' personality style works well in short bursts, but over the long haul, I don't see him in the upper echelon of coaches.

To be fair, he was also the guy who recommended Thompson to Harlan and was their eyes and ears on the impending implosion with Holmgren and Bob Whitsitt.

Look, I think the guy is an insane maniacal creep.  But they guy can coach.  Turned around San Diego, Stanford, and the Niners.  I think his personality works better around kids that only have to deal with him for at most 4 years, but the dude can coach.

Agree. Harbaugh can coach & even though they lost to San Diego on Saturday, they at least tried & played like professionals. It says a lot about a coach that knows he's gone plus the entire team knows it too & they still play hard. Not an easy thing to do with nothing on the line to play for.

Bears? I don't think so with their QB situation. They're a dumpster fire.

Raiders? Possibly. They have a young ascending QB, a very good ILB in Kahlil Mack plus a decent RB in Murray. The building blocks are there.

Univ of Michigan? Probably. I think Jim would really enjoy being this generations version of Bo Schembechler & at 6 years $48 million, tough to pass up. Not certain any NFL team would pony up that kind of scratch for a head coach.

Michigan would seem the perfect fit for Jimmy but something tells me he's love a chance to go to Oakland and succeed just so he can stick it to the Niners.   That would be pretty cool.  Although,  seeing him and Urban Meyer as dueling toolboxes would be hard to pass up but I want to enjoy the Michigan suck as long as possible

Probably the best point I've seen made regarding Harbaugh.

C'mon Packers!!

Don't see it happening, leader, although part of me wishes it would. RR will want a HC job, and barring that will get a cushy $$$ deal with ESPN to commentate a couple times a week.
