D wasn’t the problem in Cincy but if accountability was the problem in GB, I doubt bringing in a guy who let Burfict get away with what he does and the overall cheapness of those D players will cure accountability issues in GB.

Guenther is most likely linked to Gruden in Oakland.

They're (  ) waiting for the playoffs to complete, to let Gruden go & announce it

I wonder how necessary a QB coach position is in Green Bay.
The immediate thought is yes; the backups need to develop. But seeing Hundley's performance over a 8-game stretch makes me question that. Unless Van Pelt was giving it the ol' HHCD this year, was that a reflection of his skills, or one of TT's and/or MM's talent evaluation?
And who is going to teach ARod what?

Or does "The QB Guru" need someone to run his "school'?

Bennett just got reassigned correct, not fired? He did great at WR coach. Philbin was a good OC, we went to two NFCC and won a SB with him in that role. McAdoo was supposedly a good position coach, it’s not uncommon for good position coaches to be bad coordinators or bad HCs.

Ah...then the local TV station did not convey that very well. I checked an online newspaper and it states that it was unclear if Bennett would be open to accepting another assignment to stay on the staff.

More like Hundley straight murdered half the coaching staff.

And Zooks wife is getting sick of saying “for the last time. He’s ice fishing and he’s got no reception” on the phone.

Favre and Rodgers made a lot of coaches a lot of money over the years. Without Favre, guys like Andy Reid, Mariucci, Mornigweg, and Gruden don't get the chances they did. Some worked out, some didn't.

Rodgers made Philbin and McAdoo candidates for head coaching jobs.

Guys like Hundley get guys fired. Guys like Favre and Rodgers make guys money.

When Philbin was OC, the offense ran like a well-oiled machine. It was immediately apparent when Clements replaced him that the team was not as well-organized without him.

McAdoo was a very good position coach. It sounds like he just didn't have the personality or nads to be HC, especially for a NYC team.

Bennett is getting placed on "special assignment" in Human Resources for the remainder of his contract.

In 2018....This is what I want.

  • 2011 caliber offense
  • 2010 caliber defense
  • 1996 special teams

Let the chips fall where they may.

Make it happen MM!

The thing I remember most about that 2011 offense was that the 2011 defense might be bad enough to derail the locomotive. It probably would have. But Philbin lost his son in the worst way imaginable and that was that.

The 2011 offense was silly good. The 2011 defense was stupid bad. How Dom lasted 6 years after 2011 while things never really improved is truly incredible.

2011 WRs and TEs: 28 year old Jennings, 26 year old Nelson, 27 year old James Jones, 21 year old Randall Cobb. Finley was 24 and had 55 catches for 757 yards and 8 TDs as the TE. Driver was over the hill, but not bad as a 6th option. They were loaded. When your QB is Aaron Rodgers that's just not fair.

I'll take the 1996 defense - or just that DL - White, Jones, and S. Dotson had 361 career sacks. You didn't need to blitz to get pressure. When they did LeRoy Butler might have been the best pass rushing DB in history.

Special teams - Yeah, I'll take Desmond's 1996 year.

If Nick Collins doesn't get hurt, that defense is a top 10 defense. Philbin's tragic family situation and Nick Collins' freak injury are what derailed what might have been a top 10 team all-time.

2011 Defense with Nick Collins gave up 470 yards to New Orleans in week 1 and 470 yards to Carolina in week 2. Nick went down in the 4th quarter in week 2. Packers started 2-0 by the way becasue Rodgers was damn near perfect. Go figure...

No one loved Nick as much as I did. GB doesn’t finish dead last in defense if Nick doesn’t get hurt. But that 2011 defense looked lost and broken from day one. Losing Nick just made things worse.
