After watching Tavecchio 1st kick, are you so sure about this?

my LPINION is don't mess that.

The organization always wanted to stick with Crosby unless that absolutely had to make the change. Absent another Family Night type meltdown Crosby appears to be in control.

In control? The blocked kick was a clunker line drive that got blocked  into the uprights.  There is no evidence of control yet.

Can't hold Crosby responsible for DJ Williams' failure on his blocking assignment.

Just as well to be lucky than good.  Good or lucky - both works.  Sometimes you need both.

What I saw of the kick it was low low low for a 30 yarder.  Didn't notice any unusual breakdown from line. But maybe.

Yes, Carpenter is the guy. Crosby always looks like he's about to take a dump. He has NO confidence, and the next miss may lead to 6 more in a row. Give me a kicker with a short memory.

Another good kicker is now available. Buffalo cut Rian Lindell. But I don't think it matters. I get the feeling that Ted and Mike would stick with Crosby even if Sebastian Janikowski was cut tomorrow.

Crosby can make 20 kicks in a row to start the season but if he misses from 54 to tie or win a game he'll be the fans whipping boy.

Crosby career conversion numbers:

40-49 yards - 70%

50 plus - 42%

 

If Crosby is the kicker this year, no FG attempts over 40 yards unless it the end of the half or needed for the win.

 

Over the course of the year, I'm willing to bet the numbers would show GB has a higher probability of putting points on the board by never attempting anything over 40 yards based on his career conversion rate. If it's 4th and 5 at the 30-35, this offense is converting at a better clip than Crosby has. Those conversions don't need to result in 7. Just get him closer where he's got a better chance of converting.

 

What has to stop is handing the other teams offense the ball on the 40 plus yard line close to 60% of the time because Crosby is a losing proposition over 50 yards and not a great one from 40.

The good news is that Crosby is likely to be on a very short leash. He stumbles and I don't think the team will be that hesitant to make a change.

He's already performed a face plant.  He would literally have to take a **** midfield and smear it all over himself for the consideration of jettisoning his ass.

Who opened the letter?  It's a federal offense to open a letter that's not yours.

 

I had this concern earlier but didn't say anything.  We're all felons now (yeah, now).

I'm honestly rooting against Crosby.  Don't trust him if he makes every kick between now and opening day.  Tavecchio isn't the answer either. 

 

I can deal with a brand new guy missing and costing a game.  At least they tried to upgrade if they do that.  I think they've been more than fair to Mason.  I can't remember another kicker getting this much leeway. It's not even like Mason was an elite kicker and they're waiting for him to regain his form.  It's just time for a change.   

 

Carpenter is in an interesting spot.  If his agent said he'd sign now for a minimum I hope they'd jet Tavecchio and bring him in. Carpenter might think he has some leverage and squeeze as much as he can get, but that can get dicey if the music stops and the jobs are filled.     

 

 

I was a big backer for Crosby and part of me still would like to see him stick in GB.  But I feel like a change might be best for he and the Packers.  Guess we'll see what happens.

Rodgers needs to take responsibility for that.

You're certainly not alone in that sentiment. But its still bad juju for Packer nation to wish ill of one of their players imo.

 

Crosby will be a Packer until he can be replaced, same as every other guy on the roster. Till then, I'd advise Packer fans to get firmly in his corner, we need all the positive energy we can muster.

When Crosby came in to the league he made a lot of pressure kicks. I would think before he kicked. "Come on you kicked at Colorado in huge games you can make it" and he usually did.  Now ...now..I got nothing.
