Pass.  Crosby is a garbage, middling kicker.  The quicker he flops the better, imo.  They can't even ask him for a paycut (which they should) for fear of breaking his oh so fragile focus.

Crosby is a garbage, middling kicker.

With the strongest leg in the league. If he ever figures out how to be accurate, he could be the most dangerous weapon in the league & able to score from almost anywhere on the field.

Some positive energy can't hurt & worst case scenario we root for someone new if Crosby can't cut it.

A lot of you guys are ready to cut Crosby and I don’t get it.  GB is a tough place to kick.  Expecting perfection is very unrealistic.  Yet the stats show he is one of the top place kickers in Packer history.  For example:

Highest FG %:

1)      Longwell – 81.59%

2)      Stenerud – 80.82%

3)      Crosby – 79.39%

That is a 2.2% difference between Longwell and Crosby.

Highest PAT %:

1) Crosby – 99.22%

2) Longwell – 98.95%

3) Jacke – 98.37%

That is no miss-print – Crosby is better.

Most FGs in a season – Crosby is tied for second with 31.

Most consecutive FGs – Crosby is first with 23.

Most FGs over 50 yards:

1) Jacke – 17

2) Longwell – 13

3) Crosby – 12

And Longwell GB career was significantly longer than Crosby’s to date.  It is funny to me that the guy everyone hated (Jacke) has the most.

Keep in mind that these are the best IN PACKER HISTORY.  You guys can cut Crosby if you want to, but don’t be too surprised if his replacement isn’t as good.

In 2012 Crosby went 21 of 33 (64%) .  He started out 5 of 5, then went 0 of 2 @IND (misses of 52 & 51). Then he went 7 of 13 (misses of 58, 32-hit upright, 44, 50, 38, & 55). He then finished the year 9 of 13 (misses of 53, 51, 43, & 42) going 4 of 4 over the last 2 games. He was also 2 of 2 in the playoffs.

Of his 12 misses 7 were from over 50. As Boris noted Crosby has a very strong leg, but he seemed to have a mid-season case of the yips (32 yarder hitting the upright for example) and he might have been over compensating. This strong leg may also be his achilles  as he has a 42% success rate from over 50 yards. The staff seem to be behind him for now but I also expect a short leash - they could've helped his head issues last year  but not trotting him out there for every +50 yarder.

In 2011 he went 24 of 28 (86%) - career best.

I believe that GB, and Pitt are quite possibly the two hardest places to kick.  If we cut Crosby, 31 other teams will try and pick him up, and our replacement will be worse.

You're kidding, right? I could see a few teams being interested, but that's it.

Anyone remember 2001? In his 5th year Longwell kicks 64% after kicking 86% the season before. He rebounds with a solid 82% the next season. Crosby kicked 85% 2 seasons ago and in his 6th season he kicks 63%. Hopefully history repeats itself and he rebounds with a solid season. It's beyond frustrating to watch him miss kicks and I was as critical of him as anyone, but I'm inclined to see how he rebounds. The devil you know is better than the devil you don't. There's always some "retired" vet kicker who is on standby for whoever is having kicker problems...Jason Hansen, Lawrence Tynes, and Nick Novak are all available vets. If Crosby isn't out of his slump, give him the axe and bring in whoever is available as a bandaid.

31 other teams might be an exaggeration, but I can think of a handful of teams (STL, DEN, NE, OAK, MIN) that WOULDN'T pick him up on waivers.

The point is, he's got a leg, and has had success in the NFL, and there will be no K that will be better if we waive him.

It's just an example, but it's not like it's a crazy suggestion. He kicked 92% last year I think I read.

I'd like to know his % of attempts and makes over 40, not in a controlled environment.

It would be classic if we picked him up, and he kicked a game winner against the Lions.  It would break his losing streak against the Packers.  Unbelievable, that he was in the league 20+ years and never left Lambeau with a W.

But I'll give you this, he's damn good on PATs.

I got my stats from packers.com.  They indicate that they are updated thru the 2012 season.  So if they aren't right, then so be it, but I did not make it up.

I was going to bring this up.  I can post before work, at lunch, and after work.  Just not during work.  Thanks GD.
