Hmmm.  Packers restructure the 2013 portion of Crosby's contract:

Crosby had been scheduled to earn $2.4 million in base salary during the 2013 season. Under the restructured contract, Crosby will earn $800,000 in base salary, which will be fully guaranteed if he's on the team's roster on Saturday, Sept. 7. Crosby can make up the $1.6 million difference via roster bonuses throughout the season and through performance incentives.

The remaining two years of Crosby's contract were not changed.

Makes economic sense to me -- performance based for this year.  As to whether this screws up Crosby's head any more, who knows?

My guess is that this was like AJ Hawk's restructuring before last season, either restructure or you're gone. They probably told Crosby that either his pay is determined by his productivity or he's gone. And that's only fair. That's what would happen with any other player on the team, if you're not producing then you're not going to be here.

Oh right, except like the bankers screwed us and none of them got fired....tell me again how that's supposed to work?      and I know no politics, I just had to get that in.  Sorry.

Looks like Ted adjusts Crosby toward the "dime a dozen" category. Good for him.

Unless I'm missing something that's not a give by the Packers. Fully vested vets are guaranteed their base if they are on the opening day roster. His previous base was $2.4mm which would have been fully guaranteed come 9/7 if he was on the roster.

I wouldn't be surprised either. Like you said, he's good at profile pieces and sucking up to players on Twitter. Not so good when it comes to actual football knowledge.

Is there a silent killer policy with the new site provider, especially when quoting nearly word for word?

It's too bad the NFL season isn't played in August and is wrapped up by Labor Day. This time of year isn't where Crosby worries me.

It's late December and on that does. So I expect he'll look good now, start getting shaky around November, and then the heebie-jeebies will start around Christmas.

I'd love to be Rong. Something tells me I won't be....

Many were wrong about Crosby.

Talk about a complete 180...the guy has gone from headcase to maybe the kicking the best he ever has as a pro.

His "knuckleball" kids are gone...I mean, every FG I've seen has been straight, true and well long enough. That 52 yarder he hit woulda been good from 60.

Happy he's been able to bounce back...and the Packers will need him to win some games. I am thinking the one this weekend vs Baltimore may come down to his leg.

I think Crosby just got complacent. Why else would he have a miraculous turn around after getting competition in camp AND having to agree (or get cut presumably) to a new incentive based contract with more motivation to perform well? They sent a strong message to him in the offseason and clearly he got it. Glad to have him back.

To be fair he was a bit of a mess still during training camp.  Getting booed on family night had to be rock bottom for him.  So far so good and hopefully he has his mindset right.  It's going to be interesting to see how he recovers if he misses one.

To be fair, other than Family night Crosby kicked very well in TC. IIRC, he only missed 2 or 3 out of 30+ , other than Family Night.

*** edit ***

I forgot about the 1 of 4 performance during a single practice the week after Family Night... since then (with the competition during camp and the incentive contract) he has been on fire.
