Brewers get the tying run to the plate in the 9th as Yelich singles in two runs
I think Peterson has earned a place at the top of the lineup.
There is no way JBJ can be on the playoff roster. Not if Taylor and Tellez are healthy. Boxberger has pitched a lot this season. He needs a few days rest once we wrap up the division. Hader's control has been off the last couple of games too. 4 solid starters with Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta and Lauer. Get the bullpen rested and we are ready for a deep playoff run. 
I suppose they had to lose eventually to the Scrubs.
Boxberger has pitched a lot of innings
The bullpen has been so damn good it’s hard to get too worked up about any of them. Heck, guys like Cousins and Strickland have been really good and if they feature Ashby as a long relief type guy they are absolutely loaded come playoff time.
Lauer has exceeded expectations but I have to think come playoff time they rely solely on Burnes and Woodruff and Peralta to start. Counsell will work his usual magic with out getters. Can’t wait.
Was looking at the standings just now. Cards are 9 of their last 10 with 8 Ws in a row, yet trail the Crew by 11.5.

Giants and Dodgers have got to be shaking a bit about possibly hosting a red hot Cardinals team in a 1-game Wild Card game. Makes winning the West even more important. 2 weeks ago I would have said that they'd had a cakewalk in the WC game. Not so much anymore.
Brewers really struggling on offense tonight. 2 hits over the first 7 innings.
Woodruff on the hook for another tough loss as he gives up 1 run in the first (walk, stolen base, Cards move the runner to third on a ground out, sac fly). Otherwise, 10 strikeouts, 1 run, and 2 hits. Cousins gives up another small ball run in the 8th.
Down 2-0 in the 8th but guys on 2nd and 3rd with one out now.
Down 2-1, Brewers get runners at first and third with 2 outs in the 9th and the Cards intentionally walk Yelich to put the winning run in scoring position. I don't know if they are scared of Yelich at this point or just preferred facing Pablo Reyes.
2-5 in the last 7. Makes me sad 😭
They will bust out of this mini slump in a BIG way. I foresee a 4 homer game in one of the next 2 vs. the Cards.
Fucking Cardinals
After one more with the Cardinals tomorrow, they have 3 with the Mets, 3 more with the Cardinals, and end with the Dodgers.
I think they better beat the Mets three times.

That's a lot of guys that need to swing the bat a little better come playoff time to give them a chance.
I guess Counsell has waived the white flag in this one. Down 7-1 in the 5th with one guy on and two outs he lets Daniel Norris hit. Norris has an ERA north of 6. It's not like CC is likely to get some great innings of shutout relief from him.
About to be up 8 games in the loss column with 10 games to play. Obviously, still in very good shape, but it would be nice to win tomorrow afternoon and get that magic number down to 1 and be able to relax and get the rotation in order for the playoffs.
If the Dodgers are still neck and neck with the Giants during the final 3 games of the season, the Brewers might face Walker Buehler, Kershaw, and Scherzer.

The Brewers starting pitching, especially their top 3, is good enough to win any 7 game series. Their bullpen is obviously elite as well. It doesn't matter if they are playing the Dodgers or the Diamondbacks, teams are not going to put up big offensive numbers against Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, D. Williams, and Hader. This is the most complete Brewers pitching staff in team history. Guys like Lauer and Hauser would have been #2 starters on even some of the good Brewers teams of the past, and guys like Ashby, Boxberger, and Suter have been great also. There are at least 10 good arms deep.
Against teams with crappy pitching, even mediocre offense is going to win you games with this staff. Against the Pirates, Cubs, Diamondbacks, and Nationals (the bottom of the NL especially after the trade deadline), the Brewers area cumulative 41-11. That's what good teams do, dominate teams they should. However, against everyone else, they are 50-50. They are competitive, but they are in danger of losing a lot 3-1 and 4-2 type games in the post-season because of the offense.
The offense has not been championship quality all year and it took adding Escobar and especially Adames to get it to a decent level. Yelich, Hiura, Shaw, and JBJ were supposed to be a large part of the middle of the order. They all played opening day. They are a cumulative 214-1094 at the plate. That's a 196 batting average. In some cases, their slugging percentages are around what you might have predicted their batting averages would be: Yelich (365), Bradley (265), Hiura (302), and Shaw (337). They struck out an amazing 362 times. That's 33% of the time.
The Brewers have stumbled recently and were in need of a big hit. So, of course, we all predicted it would be Tyrone Taylor who would do it? A grand slam to put them up 4-0.

Cards absolutely rock Cousins and Boxberger to score 4 in the top of the 7th. Boxberger gets two outs but gives up a home run. Cousins couldn't throw a strike.
Tied going to the bottom of 7.

Well… whatever happens from here, hopefully this 4-game ass-whoopin they’re getting wakes them the fuck up.
Ashby comes in for the 8th and promptly walks the leadoff guy and gives up a single. And then a passed ball and they are down 7-5.
The Brewers are about to have perhaps their worst collapse this year.
Up 5-1 with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 5th with a fully rested Hader and D. Williams and they don't even make it to them with a lead.
I hope as a competitive bunch they are throughly embarrassed.

I'm just super glad that Devin Williams will be available tomorrow and wasn't used today.
You could argue Cain's double in the bottom of the 6th with two outs was a key play. If Cain doesn't reach, they may not pinch hit for Houser and he goes back out for the 7th. Cousins, who is literally Kirk Cousin's 1st cousin, has been similar to Kirk this month in that he looks great for a long time and then falls apart at the worst possible time.
He was lights out until late this season and then has fallen apart in September to the point he may not be on the postseason roster.
