Or it could be isolated to a couple younger players picked in the 1st or 2nd round.

Dom Capers
IL_Pack_Fan posted:Don't know if we'll ever know if the issues are with Dom or the experience/talent level of players he's given. We have heard media and other players comment on the old, stale nature of his play calling. It's also nearly unheard of to see a staff with this much team success have no coaches hired elsewhere in 8 years.
This peek behind the current from Haha may be no more than venting, but it wouldn't Assurprise me at all if there is a wider spread frustration in that locker room.
As far as our coaching staff being hired elsewhere, my take is that the team has not allowed our coordinators to be released from their current contracts. Other teams have tried and been refused. And as far as what may be going on behind the scenes there is pure speculation and nothing else.
I know its frustrating not to know more but if there were published complaints about some dysfunction, then our team would really be in a mess.
even with the turnaround and the injuries this year, adding up all the Dom years and I'm not buying that he's that great of a coach or coordinator anymore. Always seems to get surprised by one thing or the other.
How badly did we loose to the Falcons McCathy.

This was my guess from what we've heard also, considering a certain first-rounder was shunted off to "lesser" receivers while a UDFA was charged with shadowing a Superstar for the playoffs.
McCathy is my hero

That UFDA had graded out better over the past couple weeks....

Like new concepts such as "the forward pass".

Nagler asks MM about Capers, starts about 8 minutes in.. (Do not listen, EKB)
Then it evolves into a discussion on vodka...
All I heard was
"Dom Capers sucks"
"Excuses, excuses, excuses."
Disagree with me and I will fight you.
I told you not to listen to it...
But you were clearly spoiling for a fight....
Vodka and fresh lemon juice. Bless you Mike McCarthy.
Just vodka from a jug in the freezer, one snort at a time!
Maybe Vodka should be made mandatory for the defense before games next year. By virtue of being sloshed maybe our defense becomes a little less predictable. All I know is being sober hasn't worked.
Life lessons.
Some high quality brown and a hooka pipe should be mandatory for the D. Numb the senseless bull**** calls we see routinely from Dan Compers.

Then TT is a worse evaluator of defensive talent than Sherman. Guh.
exacto. I wonder what metric of success you're using to evaluate GB with Dom? he's obviously very creative. Might be a better assistant. We need better D schemes, better D players, better D coordination, better D coaching. BTW, wasted Matthews' peak years too. He's a long shot to get back to a premier pass rusher. anyhoo, I doubt this discussion will bear fruit. and GD will never change his mind about how fuggin awesome Dommy is.
McCarthy is straight up Rong about Dom and the D.

I don't get it GD. I don't think I've been anything but reasonable on this subject. What's with the puerile insinuations that I'm merely having an uninformed rage fit? or are you projecting your interactions with someone else on to ours? anyhow, be that as it may. I do not hate Capers and I admire the work he's done in many ways. But the problem now has become obvious (It's Dom Capers AND the D Talent evaluation and coaching every year) and my fear is it won't get fixed as long as McCarthy and TT are in charge.
You're totally right, I had no idea anyone on X4 disliked Dom Capers. It's not like that's the only thing some of you talk about constantly.
Dom who?
My fear? "I'm scared of spiders, coach."
Bees!!!

not me. so **** off with your banal faux sarcasm. (You can't even do sarcasm right.)
Well kids...
This makes how many top picks for this defense by TT in an attempt to "fix" the defense over how many drafts now?
You can't say Ted hasn't tried. He's given this D high pick after high pick, draft after draft.
If the defense can't turn it around, at what point does it lay at Capers toupee' ?
Or is he An Outstanding Football Coach,
No.
Matter.
What.
By the bye...
#Packers GM Ted Thompson has now used 13 of his last 18 day 1 and 2 picks on defense.
I don't know what else to say. Either our scouting dept completely sucks at picking D in the draft or someone ain't "coaching em up" well enough. Might be a combination of both.
I refuse to believe this is a lack of talent.
Those picks this week garnered a faster Chuck Cecil and another underachieving DT as well as an inconsistent CB thus far for well-regarded position coaches.
The main problem in GB is TT, but Capers isn't worth a schit either. Deep down inside, even the TT lovers know it but they wouldn't admit it for all the money in the world. You see company line takes of "In TT we trust"..."He gets the benefit of the doubt"... blah blah blah. The people that correctly knock TT are beat over the head with a club and mocked by group think until they quietly go away.
You can post stats about how successful GB has been by making the playoffs all you want. The reality is that when Arod leaves GB, the Packers will have nearly three decades of back to back HOF quarterback play in a quarterback driven league. Three decades worth... and so far there are two championships to show for it. That's embarrassing and a complete failure. All arrows point to TT.... but don't let that get in the way of the suck-fest.
As for this draft so far. I'd have preferred Watt but I admittedly didn't read enough regurgitated information to have an informed opinion. King looks to have a chance and I like Jones' height/weight/speed ratios. The DT appears to have a motor problem, which never works in the NFL. As always, we won't know for a few years.
So, how many Super Bowls would have been acceptable during that time?
How many do you think the Patriots would have won given the same QB's?
Under Belichick or under 5 different coaches?
