The only question is.... can the offense beat the Giants defense & carry the day?....because I KNOW, Dom gonna DOM.....

Thanks Micah. Will share that with our 5th grade neighbor kid. Such detailed strategy talk !!!  

Thinking about Hyde, Gunter, whoeverthe****, and even Burnett manning the CB position ...now that the position is a train-wreck. They might be slow-footed but at least they have been more assignment sure than Randall and Rollins. Those guys have simply been undependable....poor technique, missed assignments, missed tackles, etc... Hopefully just confused kids that can turn it around, but injuries aside,  they have been awful. 

Whatever the case, I'm sure some X4 "Glee Club Members" will be blaming Capers for the Packers defense getting bent over in their playoff exit with Dorleant, Brice, Evans and Hyde trying to cover NFL receivers.

I actually think the Falcons might be the toughest matchup in the playoffs for GB given the health of the secondary. I think GB beats NY. I think GB can beat any team in the postseason. I just think Atlanta would pose the toughest matchup. 

If it wasn't for the injuries in the secondary, I would be extremely confident heading into this game.  But being down our top three corners could be exactly the type of situation that allows Eli to get going.  It may allow Eli to keep up with Rodgers in a shootout.  

Our front seven needs to get pressure on Eli.  He'll turn it over if he feels the heat.  

CMIII needs to earn his money in this game.  Time for Clay to step up.

MM has a way of getting his team into another gear in the playoffs.  The biggest example being what they did in ARZ down to 5th string WR's.  Unless he's already used that gear to run the table, I would expect the unexpected on sunday.

And had the Packers ended up traveling to Seattle there would have articles and columns about the playoff choke there. Recent Packer/NYG playoff history at Lambeau is admittedly ugly but it's a new game and that hubris isn't warranted.

I agree with Boris's thoughts on this one.  This is the type of game I worry about someone who hasn't done much for the Giants doing his best "Hoover" impression and going nuts on the Packers D. My pick is Victor Cruz to go nuts.

I do think the Packers offense can score some on the Giants D but the absolute key is the pass rush.  When I was at the Lions game there was one constant is that they got pressure on Stafford and that threw them off their game.  The Packers CANNOT allow Eli to sit back there with the depleted Packer secondary.

DET 2nd half possessions. The D stepped up when they needed to. Playing dime with 1 CB and 5 Safeties says a lot about the players, the coaches, and the preparation. 

My guess is that yes somebody will "go off" on our depleted secondary. They have coaches licking their chops at that possibility. But every team has a weak spot and that's ours. A better focus is to simply accept it and limit it as best we can. That's why we often play zone. Limited personnel and skills dictate that. It does not mean we will lose but it does mean we will have to accept some yards and scores. It does not mean we will not try the best we can and use what we have the best we can. THAT can mean we will end up winning, even if its an "ugly win".

Everyone see the graphic posted during the game with the QB rating when throwing to the offenses right boundary vs. our defense? Wasn't it something like 30 pts above the NFL average? This is where Rollins / Randall have played. I really don't think Hyde or whoever, can do any worse.

I think he's off the 'roids.   His arms didn't look that huuuge this season.

On paper, this seems a crappy matchup to me.  I preface by saying that due to financial duress, I can't justify regular tv and so cannot watch a ton of games (which is also why I don't participate much during games).

But, anyway, from what I've read...

Once again the Giants get good pressure from just their Front 4.  What is up with that?!!  And three solid corners.

Then you got three solid WR's and Eli generally rises in big games, realizing he is certainly capable of his stinkers.

I think it comes down to the defense needing to not get completely overwhelmed and Rodgers playing at his best.

Both of which I believe can happen, but (again) this reads like a tough one to me.

Maybe we will see Ty Montgomery at CB.   Why not? If Micheal and Ripper can handle the RB duties it would free up a rough tough Ty to play in the secondary.   He would do it if asked and I bet he would do a good job. 

Pass rush, pass rush, pass rush.  The thing I'm most worried about in this game is: pass rush.  Any receiver can get open if given the time, and these are not just any receivers.  Any pressure on Eli, and half the time he doesn't even try to scramble, he just throws it away (or better yet up for grabs).  Now more than ever, we have got to get after the quarterback.

Really concerned by CMIII's play against Detroit.  I know he was getting doubled a lot, but it looked to me like he regressed on the injury.  As soon as he saw he was doubled, it looked like he'd just stop on the play.  This is the opposite of what we need against the Giants.  We don't even need to actually  sack Eli, we just need him to think he could get sacked.  That means fighting every play until the whistle, even when you are doubled.

Perry looked to be handling the club just fine on the sack he got.  Not sure how many snaps he got, but would like to see more of him, even with the club.  Now would also be a really, really good time for Fackrell and Lowry to step up and take some people by surprise.  And any word on Jayrone Elliott?  Last I heard they were trying a club on him.

Eli will throw some balls he shouldn't if we can just get some pressure on him. As pointed out by someone at JSO right now ("Packers Offense is the Best Defense"), 2 INT's and this game is ours. CAN WE PLEASE GET SOME PASS RUSH OVER HERE?

Did I mention pass rush in this post?  Hate to sound like a broken record, but it really is looking like the key to winning this game.

Yup- pressure is the great equalizer...

OBJ is such a head case.  If he gets frustrated or we can get inside his head, he will self-destruct.  I say we bribe the P.A. announcer to introduce him as "Odell Penis-head."

Interestingly enough, the majority of NFC playoff teams this year seem to be all offense and suspect defense.
NYG and Seattle are the 2 exceptions, but either are beatable. Just because they can play some defense, I'd pick either one for toughest match-up.

Teams like DallAss, Detroit, and even the Packers, to a lesser extent, depend on big plays and are capable of quick strikes for TDs.
Atlanta is a race horse; they just dare you to keep up.

In the end, the best defense can be a good offense, and the teams that can convert 1st downs and sustain drives keeps the enemy's weapons on the sidelines.

So where is this pass rush going to materialize from? Even with an average Giants OL.

The Pack is 3-5 in the playoffs the past 5 seasons, including wins over the Joe Webb quarterbacked Vikings and the 9-7 Redskins last year.

We all love the 2010 Super Bowl run, but other than the very close, very fortunate, and compelling victory over Dallas in 2014, I am having a hard time seeing how the Packers have reached another gear in the playoffs recently.

The Mighty Green Bay Packers are tied for 6th in the NFL in sacks and sack percentage. Its been a real mix of guys so far, 12 different Packer defenders have recorded a sack this year, including rookie 5-tech, Dean Lowry

The one piece missing lately is the safety blitz /corner cat. And those have dropped off due to all the injuries at CB, so the Safeties have to stay deep and baby sit.

Stated another way,  there are 25 other NFL teams that wish  they could rush the passer as well as the 2016 Packers. 

Added bonus is that Marshall Newhouse will be at RT on Sunday evening 

We can only hope Marshall  Newhouse has to block Perry/Peppers/Mathews all day.  Chance for a big Pay Day for Perry/Peppers.

Agree with your comments on CM3. I expected a solid performance based on his game vs the Vikes, but it looked as if he was just going through the motions vs Detroit.
If he is going to draw some double teams, however, Peppers (especially) and our other OLBs (that means YOU, Datone!) must take advantage. 

I haven't seen any recent news about Elliott, other than noting he has been inactive the last 2 weeks. I'd sure like for him to get back in the rotation as well, and would think his legs should be fresh, so he could bring some misery for the Giants OL.

I've been very pleasantly surprised with Lowry when he plays. He may well be our best pass rusher on the DL. Clark plays well in spurts, but it still too inconsistent. I'm guessing Ringo isn't developing as quickly as hoped...

I hate Joe Thomas in hurt. Best coverage LB (IMHO), and a BIG hitter. He will be missed unless he can last than more than just a few plays.
