Lots of comparison discussions about injuries in 2010 (SB year) and now. But in 2010 players went to IR and the staff was able to replace them with players, who actually could play in the games. In 2013 only 4 (5 if you include Cobb) players have gone to IR, but the number of guys on the 53 who have missed games is a long list.

Are the Packers a team in favor of expanding rosters more than other teams?  Having more players show up on the missing game list would support argument to expand.  Expansion of rosters is more money to players which some teams are against.  But are some teams more dependent on talent being discarded than others.  Is that part of the leagues parity plan?  The Packers have no problem spending more on FA and PS players.  Being able to horde and develop would be an advantage I can see Uncle Ted embracing.

50 years and we still do not know who had the President killed or where they taped the moon landing.

Whatever the lists contain and compare, the thing that strikes me is this year there has been a total of at least 10 starters missing games due to injury, and at least half of them have been for multiple games. That's pretty significant no matter how you slice it.

There's 3 more starters on IR. Not as dramatic as 2010, but coupled with the games missed by starters, the comparisons look closer.

And while they weren't included in either list, and they weren't necessarily starters, I think we have to include the guys on PUP, most notably Worthy. Tretter and Richardson weren't a given, but Worthy should certainly count as 'games missed'.

  • Q: Tyler J Bohms, Sun Prairie, WI - Please tell me Rodgers is back next week, Is this possible?
  • A: Tyler Dunne - TJB: Would still be very surprised to see Rodgers back on the field that soon. One bad hit, if the bone's not properly healed, and he'd be done for the season. Thursday would be 24 days since Rodgers broke his collarbone --- 3 1/2 weeks. That's not a lot of time.

β–  McCarthy confirmed rookie running back Johnathan Franklin was placed on injured reserve because of a neck injury and not a concussion.

He sustained both on the opening kickoff against the Vikings last Sunday.

Franklin’s rookie contract had a split-salary clause, meaning his weekly compensation for the final month of the season will be reduced from $23,823.53 to $16,941.18 based a prorated base reduction from $405,000 to $288,000. -Green Bay Press Gazette
