Oh well

@packers: #Packers place WR Davante Adams on reserve/COVID-19 list

The Green Bay Packers have placed WR Davante Adams on the reserve/COVID-19 list. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction Monday.

Per agreed-upon NFL-NFLPA policy, clubs are not permitted to comment on a player's medical status other than referring to roster status. Being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list is for a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or who has been in close contact with an infected person or persons.

I have to believe the DC has had “close contact” with damn near everybody. Since Adam’s is the only player on the Covid list at the moment, I’d assume he has tested positive and will be out for 10 days or whatever.

Vaccinated players

If a vaccinated player tests positive for COVID-19

That player must isolate immediately but is eligible to rejoin the team if he remains symptom free AND has two negative tests 24 hours apart. In other words, they could theoretically rejoin the team as soon as 48 hours after testing positive.

However, if experiencing symptoms, the player must remain in isolation until he returns two negative tests AND is asymptomatic for 48 hours.

If a vaccinated player has a close contact with a COVID-19 positive person

That player will be tested for COVID-19, but will not be forced to isolate, as long as their test comes back negative and they are not displaying any symptoms. This is the case even if the contact is considered “high risk.” For the next five days, though, they will have to test daily and wear a mask at the facility.

That's from early September. Not sure if anything has been changed since then.

Adams is vaxxed AF.

Just needs to stay away from everyone for 2 days and test negative 2 straight days.

Assuming he was in proximity of someone who tested positive

Not a valid assumption. My 22 year old son is also vaxxed to the max. last week of September he caught Covid. Minor discomforts, lost taste and smell. He was back on the road on 10/14 (driving an oversized meat tube replica).

Oh yeah- He caught it in Green Bay.

He also needs to be symptom free to return that quick.

I thought the NFL was incentivizing players to get vaccinated by saying the vaxed wouldn't be tested...apparently not...

Less frequent. Not "never" tested.

NFL COVID-19 Testing Results and Vaccination Rates: Sept. 19-Oct. 2, 2021

The NFL's COVID-19 testing results for the September 19 – October 2 period are as follows:

  • 16,910 tests were administered to a total of 6,528 players and team personnel; 2,408 players and 4,120 personnel.
  • There were 15 new confirmed positive tests among players and 20 new confirmed positives among personnel. The overall incidence rate is 0.5% for this testing period.

Unvaccinated individuals are required to test daily. Vaccinated individuals are tested once a week and may volunteer for additional testing. Anyone identified as a high risk contact due to exposure will be tested daily, as appropriate. Early symptom reporting and testing for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals is key to keeping our clubs and communities safe this season.

Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 are immediately isolated, not permitted to access club facilities, or have direct contact with players or personnel. Club medical staff are in regular communication with individuals who test positive to monitor symptoms.

  • Unvaccinated individuals must isolate for 10 days away from the club facility.
  • Vaccinated individuals who are asymptomatic may return to the facility once they have received two consecutive negative laboratory PCR tests taken at least 24 hours apart. Vaccinated individuals who are symptomatic must also return two negative tests taken at least 24 hours apart and must be asymptomatic for 48 hours. If vaccinated individuals don't return two consecutive negative tests, they may return after 10 days.

Look, I put some of this on the Packers...Davante tests positive before what COULD end up being a game that decides the #1 overall seed in the NFC, as long as he's asymptomatic, why are you telling anyone he tested positive?? Pretend it never happened and go on with your business. Then come Monday or Tuesday (the week of a long break) say he tested positive. He misses no games .Easy peasey. I handle it differently if it's a PS player or a back up...but Davante?? I'm not saying shit.

Boy, am I glad you’re not in charge of how the NFL deals with Covid!

Sit everyone. Start Love. All backups. Get a mini bye in before the actual bye in 6 weeks. Lose by 40. Live to fight a bigger fight. NBA regular season stuff.

You can't win the conference in week 8 2021 on a short week. But you sure as fuck could lose it with a hurt team.

Shake the NFL up MLF!

I mean maybe you're unaware, but covid is NEVER going away, we are going to all just have to learn to live with it. That's a fact. It's long past time we started doing that.

I am sure there are checks & balances to make sure that teams don't cheat the system. In addition, the penalties for doing so may be great enough for teams to not consider this, even if sleazy enough to do so.

I'm leaning this way too.   Especially if Bahk and MVS are still out.    Just call it a bye week and get ready for KC.

I'm sure Roger (dick-faced shill for the owners that he is) would put the kibosh on the idea, but wouldn't it be cool just to say, "what the fuck" and sit all the key and hobbled guys and just tell Love to go in there and watch what Murray is doing and copy him.

Covid IS going away. 70% of the population is vaccinated. Should be 80% but whatever. This ain't the flu. IT IS NOT A FLU.  70% of the pop. vaxxed should be enough to cut another variant from overtaking Delta as the dominant strain based on global activity.

We are not going to live with Covid.

We will live with mutating flu's.
