Amen on the boiled peanuts.

Circa, 1992, Mrs. Blair Kiel and I are traveling the back roads of South Carolina (Near Darlington if I recall) to see if we wanted to move South.

We stop at a roadside boiled peanut stand and  the old guy literally says to us, "Come and sit a spell."  Nicest visit we ever had.

Good heavens. Factory of Sadness working on three shifts.

@AdamSchefter: Cleveland's other 1st-RD pick, Justin Gilbert, was late for team meeting last night and is expected to be inactive today, per league source.

Skipsh!t call Manziel a Liar and Alcoholic !

quote:

In the pantheon of disgusting and reprehensible things Skip Bayless has said, this one's right up there. It's one thing to abhor Johnny Manziel's partying or a perceived lack of professionalism, but it's beyond the pale when you say a 22-year-old rookie quarterback is an "alcoholic" without anything to back the statement up.

It's an affront not only to Manziel, but to the very serious disease of alcoholism. Trivializing it for a hot take is just the worst. Remember: Bill Simmons was suspended by ESPN for calling Roger Goodell a liar, now Bayless has called a player a liar AND an alcoholic.

Manziels own Dad said his kid has a drinking problem. And this was prior to the draft. That Johnny Highball might actually have a drinking problem isn't news to anyone. When you're swinging by the local hole for a quick belt after camp, you might have an issue

He may end up turning everything around. But it's not going to be in Cleveland.

Bet.

Here's the thing I love about Brakya. When he sees a cock , he attacks it via multiple angles. He doesn't just ride the cock, he bets on the cock as well.

I think the Brakya/Shaw duo are going to have a fantastic run in Cleveland

I doubt it's a drinking problem.  22 year old kids get hammered and do stupid stuff, happens all the time.  I did the same stuff as Manziel's doing right now when I was 22.  The difference?  I wasn't getting paid millions to play quarterback in the NFL.  I was an entry level accountant that had almost zero responsibility at my job and absolutely no media attention.  Playing in the NFL comes with certain tradeoffs and expectations.  And they are well compensated for it too.  If Manziel want's to party all the time, he can quit the NFL and get an entry level job.

It's an affront to call "alcoholism" a disease.

Pandering to the masses via media is just as trivial.

It is not hand size that matters - what size is his foot?  There is an euphemism about the size of a man's foot in relation to the size of other parts.  But he does have a HUGE ego.  I like the commentator the other week who said Johnny Manzil you can keep your goofy nickname but from here on in you must put football in quotes!

This is probably what Favre did as a rookie.  Manziel is basically Favre without arm strength, size, or durability. Favre wasn't properly prepared for games for at least 2-3 years.

I don't know that he has a drinking problem but it seems to me he has a spoiled athlete entitlement problem

The guy grew up in privilege and is only used to people telling him how good he is and how he can do no wrong.  Well, welcome to the big show rookie

At this rate I will be shocked if he's even in the league in 2 years

I just wish he would have ended up in MN - the fairly tale ending would be complete
the guy's gonna hafta make a choice:  enjoy the nightlife and all the attention and mostly negative attention it will bring, or play QB in the NFL.  he's not anonymous, he's not free to go and be as he pleases thanks to his desire to be a "brand".

I don't care if he wants to drink and have a good time but he's brought this all on himself and he has a choice to make.  I suspect he will choose poorly.

thing is, that isn't his fallback.  his fallback is right into daddy's millions and the country club.  can kinda understand why there's no chip on the shoulder or desire to prove he can play...
