Fandame - agree somewhat with your thoughts on Tebow, but he had his own issues in terms of fitting in with the team.

Anyone with eyes could see that Tebow couldn't throw. However, he refused to consider switching to FB or H-back. If he'd have done that, he'd probably still be playing the NFL and he probably had the talent to be a major contributor in that role.

Johnny's agent has fired Manziel:

In the wake of Johnny Manzielβ€˜s latest off-field incident and a report that the Browns plan to cut him, Manziel’s agent has announced that he has ended his business relationship with the quarterback. As Adam Schefter of ESPN.com tweets, agent Erik Burkhardt issued a statement explaining why he is no longer representing Manziel.

β€œIt is with deep regret that, after several emotional and very personal discussions with his family, his doctors, and my client himself, I have made the decision to terminate my professional relationship with Johnny Manziel,” Burkhardt said.

β€œThough I will remain a friend and Johnny supporter, and he knows I have worked tirelessly to arrange a number of professional options for him to continue to pursue, it has become painfully obvious that his future rests solely in his own hands. His family and I have gone to great lengths to outline the steps we feel he must take to get his life in order. Accountability is the foundation of any relationship, and without it, the function of my work is counterproductive.

β€œI truly wish the best for Johnny and sincerely hope he can, and will, find the kind of peace and happiness he deserves.”

That's pretty unprecedented for a sports agent to fire his own client. And even more so to blast said client via the net. He said/she said really doesn't matter at this point. It's fairly obvious Johnny has some serious mental health issues that he's either just not addressing or is in denial that he has.

Count me as one that was totally bamboozled by Manziel after watching him win that Heisman trophy a few years back.  I couldn't believe how well he carried himself in terms of giving a speech and dealing with media, etc. for a 19 year old.  But obviously that was just a well crafted persona for the cameras and his real self has been revealed since that point.

He comes from a rich upbringing and there's always the chance that a kid can be spoiled rotten in that type of environment.  He appears to be "spoiled rotten" with emphasis on rotten, and combine that with his substance abuse issue and he's going to be a head case for a long time, maybe until his dying day.

Not sure what the bigger draft lesson is on Manziel - more focus on off-field issues and overall personality, or less emphasis on on-field performance and more on the players tools.  Clearly the Browns missed on both - Manziel had so many red flags that it's shocking he went before Bridgewater and Carr.

Hindsight is 20/20 but crazy to think the Browns could have had Sammy Watkins and Jason Verrett - two guys they were linked to.  But......they're the Browns.

If the Brown's management/ownership had any brains, they'd be smart to actually go hard after one Scott Tolzien. He's been developed in an excellent QB system, has zero off the field idiocy, and is a good FA player who won't cost a ton either. The Browns can draft yet another QB high in the draft, and that player would be perfect to sit behind Tolzzzz and learn ala Aaron Rodgers.

But as CU said, it's the Browns. So of course, they won't do it.

LOLZ. Oh Browns, you are such an embarrassment...

Report: Browns lied about Manziel concussion to cover up his drinking

In a report on the league’s own network, the Browns have been accused of lying about Johnny Manziel having a concussion in an effort to cover up that the real problem with Manziel was showing up to work drunk.

β€œJohnny Manziel, going into what would have been a start late in the season, showed up drunk at practice on a Wednesday. The Browns lied and said he was in the concussion protocol. Let me repeat that: The Browns lied, to try to protect, and I would argue enable, this irresponsible and very troubled young man,” Mike Silver said on the air on NFL Network.

As PFT pointed out at the time, there’s always been something very fishy about Manziel’s Week 17 concussion diagnosis. On Monday of the last week of the season, then-Browns coach Mike Pettine said he planned to talk to Manziel about a video that appeared to show him drinking alcohol and partying. At that time, there were no reports that Manziel being checked for a concussion. Then, when Manziel showed up to work on Wednesday, it was announced that he had a concussion and couldn’t play in that Sunday’s season finale. It was never explained why the Browns only diagnosed this concussion three days after it supposedly happened, and two days after Pettine said he was going to have a stern talk with Manziel about his off-field issues.

If NFL Network’s report is correct, the NFL should come down hard on the Browns. The league has spent the last few years repeating, over and over again, that concussions are to be taken seriously. If the Browns are using bogus concussion diagnoses to avoid having to discuss players’ off-field problems, that would be an appalling misuse of the league’s injury reports.

Something was odd about putting him in the concussion protocol on a Wednesday.......usually you hear about concussion diagnoses pretty quick.

Johnny Football........what a disaster.  Only thing making him less of a disaster than Ryan Leaf 2 years into their careers is draft position.  And to think, the Browns passed on Teddy Bridgewater and Derek Carr.

"Johnny Manziel has huge hands"

Every time I read that heading I have this desire to add a few words of my own. Like:

Johnny Manziel has huge hands...but a really small brain.

Johnny Manziel has huge hands...for chocking a bitch

Johnny Manziel has huge hands...and really large cock gloves

C'mon guys, let's see your efforts. Hopefully better than my lame ones.

Ha ha, another QB hand controversy......

Jared Goff can joke about it, but his hands are suddenly one of the hot topics at the NFL scouting combine.

The California quarterback is widely considered one of the top four passers eligible for the NFL draft and could be the first one off the board. But his hand measurements could potentially affect his draft stock.

β€œI’ve been told I have pretty big hands my whole life,” Goff said Thursday. β€œI heard I have small hands, apparently, yesterday. No, I’ve never had a problem with that.”

Goff’s hands officially measure nine inches, according to evaluations performed at the combine. By comparison, North Dakota State’s the hands of Carson Wentz, largely considered to be Goff’s primary competition for the first quarterback taken in the draft, measured in at 10 inches.

At the annual NFL scouting combine, every little thing about a draft-eligible player is scrutinized and analyzed every which way.

One of the trendiest topics in recent years has been hand size for quarterbacks.

I've heard people bashing this measurement. Yeah, it is only a non-issue until you find yourself having to handle a wet, frozen ball on a windy day at Lambeau in December. Suddenly you are fumbling and throwing INTs like it is going out of style.

If I am not mistaken TOG had some of the biggest hands measured....and we all know that he threw very few INTS.  None on cold days at Lambeau.

Well, big hands are nice, but not if they are accompanied by a 10 cent head.
